    This video is perfect if you have the button by the key hole (I believe it's called the "smart switch), but if you don't have that button, it's much easier; you don't even have to remove the door panel on the inside. There are other videos that show the replacement when you don't have it, but if you do, this is a very detailed video on how to do it. Great video!!!

    Thank you so much for this video. Before I watched this I was considering replacing the entire door instead of taking it apart. I am hoping to replace the dying window motor and door handle. I think I will take a stab at actually fixing these problems and replacing the parts rather than just throwing money at the problem and buying a whole door off a salvage car.

    Thanks for posting this. It's a big help. This is my 2nd door handle to fail. Question: My Versa doesn't have electric locks and windows. Is it possible to do this without taking the interior panel off?

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 7 lety

      Mark Davis i'm pretty sure you need to take the door panel off. The window crank has a clip on the back that you need to pop off. I would a google how to remove a window crank handle i've seen some pretty cool videos out there. If I had when I would link it up.

    • @DuckTracy
      @DuckTracy Před 7 lety +1

      Hey, thanks for the reply. I HATE removing door panels but this went smoothly. I really appreciated your video. BTW....funny you should mention the window crank. No problem getting it off, but won't stay on now. I even drove it on with a rubber mallet. Still scratchin' my head.

    • @HowtoAutomotive

    Is the key tumbler with cover enough to control the backward movement of the handle by itself? My key hole cover broke and I'm wondering whether my handle knocked the cover off or if something else did it in.

    @breaddrinker Před 4 lety

    I only need to replace the lock cover portion on the handle. Guess I'll find out, but do you think I can get away with not removing the door panel? It has pieces of the old cover still stuck around the lock cylinder, and it is the version without the button.
    Hoping that freeing it at the side might give me enough access to remove broken pieces and snap the new one into place?

    • @breaddrinker
      @breaddrinker Před rokem

      As much as I tried not to, I had to remove it anyway. There were pieces of the old cover still on the lock, and removing the lock, removed the yellow lock clip.
      Somehow my door latch came unsecured too, as it had lost a clip, so with the interior panel off I could relocate everything.
      Something about this car has seen more little plastic bits break than on any other car I've ever owned. Not a big fan.
      This video helped enormously. Thank you.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 7 lety +1

      Robert Niccum I don't have a video on it but if look inside the door from you should be able to follow the wire and see where it mounts. Just keep in mind when you're running the wire through window will be going up and down and try to keep it clear of all the moving parts.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 7 lety

      trusso11783 if your Car doesn't have the electrical switch then you want to have the electrical wires and you just re-install the lock cylinder. It'll be even easier it will be less stuff to take apart. I don't remember the Torx size sorry
