But they were just reflections of other people, and all they've ever known wasn't even real for them. They had to live with the fact that they were "insignificant". Nobody wants to accept that they are not special but they held on to a tiny hope and still got disappointed.
But they were ultimately significant in the end. Just goes to show that hierarchy structures of society don’t bring you value, it’s your character, decisions, and human nature that do.
