Congrats on your summit. We could only have wished for -12C! We had -40C 100km/hr gusts. One by one, guys were quitting, till it was just me. I decided not to go it alone. I made it as far as Canaleta.
Sorry to hear you had to turn back. Canaleta is a fab achievement on a normal day, and even more in those conditions. Impressive!!

Nice climb. Congrats on making summit!! An epic accomplishment. Our expedition was climbing the mountain at the same time you were. We may have even crossed paths and didn’t even know it. So, it was fun and interesting to watch your experience. We were with InKa guides and we summited on Jan-13-20. I also created a documentary film and posted on my channel if your interested in watching. Are you looking to climb all the 7 summits?

Nice vid, thanks for sharing. Aconcagua is incredible. Just one little tip - next time try to get the audio balance right between your voice and the music. It's a very common mistake by all content creators, professional and otherwise. We want to hear what you're saying, please don't let it get drowned out by the (well-chosen) music. Happy hiking! :)
Thanks moviemad! Aconcagua was incredible and this was my first video I ever edited. I do have a tendency to put my music levels too high but I have got better after this first attempt. One day I may go back and re-edit this (if I ever get time!) All the best and happy hiking.

Hi Dave, thank you for sharing your video, I just watched it and I subscribed to your channel. I plan on going to Aconcagua Nov of 2024, any tips.. i fit and I hike weekly here in Los Angeles mountains.
Thanks Javier. It feels like such a long time ago, just take it slowly. Acclimatise as much as possible - listen to your body. Make sure you're comfortable with your gear before you go, especially your boots.
Hey Dave, when did you guys all change to double boots? Just summit day or was it cold enough on other days climbing high to warrant it?
Hey Ad, we all changed into doubles from Plaza de Mulas so around 4300m so we had them on for 2 or 3 days. Potentially you could go higher with normal boots but it would be a bit chilly and it would mean carrying a set of boots up from base camp so not sure it's worth it.
Excellent video! How did you find Elbrus Tours? The package for the price looks good value - did you feel like you had enough acclimatization time?
Elbrus tours are great George! Loved them. You won't get all the creature comforts you get with the bigger Argentinian companies like some have beds at base camp while you put up tent (but you still get a chef and dining room we hung out in). I found the Argentinian guides to he very much "manana" if conditions weren't the best whereas Russians are fearless and ridiculously fast and strong so they would push you but still care about safely. Ultimately its up to you what you want to get out of the expedition. If you want all the perks then Inka or Grajales.... if you want a cheaper price, food and tent and dining room at base camp provided and a load of kick ass Russians to get you there and back then Elbrus Tours.
I booked Elbrus with them for this year but had to postpone til 2022 and they've been great with that, all the way up to the boss of the company.
So as you can probably tell ;) I've been one very happy customer.
And yes I felt there was enough acclimatisation time. Infact we were sitting around twiddling our thumbs for 3 days of bad weather when we just wanted to summit!
@@itsdavechant Thanks so much for the detailed replies! Very good to know. Yeah - I was also looking at Inka and Grajales. I wasn't going for all the perks... I'm late 20's, fit and healthy at sea level with experience 5500-5900m. But how I manage in that final vertical 1km is unknown... but sounds like Elbrus tours keep flexibility for this, and of course the weather!
What were their blood pressure standards? Despite being very physically fit and experienced with altitude my naturally blood pressure sits around 140/90 and I’ve always been concerned that they won’t let me continue on a climb like this.
I don't remember the exact blood pressure - they seemed more interested in Oxygen Saturation. If saturation was too low that was the main reason they wouldn't let you continue.
I heard some people say that Aconcagua & Denali are in the same continent apparently. Even the Spanish wiki page says they are. (I don’t agree with that).
Definitely different continents. The joy of Wiki is that we can all edit it, but that does make for some dubious comments!
@@itsdavechantI wonder why people say that Denali & Aconcagua are on the same continent anyway. I learned the answer. It’s because some other countries’ geography classes teach people that Denali & Aconcagua are on the same continent.
