Grate video, just got a AF 1 mini, allredy have a AF 1 twin and I had a AF 1 standard. Grate series.
Thanks, someone just gave me an mju as well so looking at doing a comparison on these two.
I was thinking of getting this one for the same reasons you said. Portable! Light! I like your pics too. Very nice.
Thanks lucy, it can produce some great images. Looking forward to running some colour through it later in the year.
Nice video. I have never tried the leader-retriever tool before. I usually just do it with the leader from another film and some water, but that tool looks great.
First time I used it in 'anger' so yeah I was pleased that it worked. Thanks for the comment and glad you liked it.
Very impressive indeed! Such a nice sharp lens, and lovely photos. I have the infamous MjuII, which I got from my dad who had it stuck in a drawer somewhere for years. I don't like it at all. I don't like the fact that I can't change the ISO, which I do for a lot of films, and I have to always remember to turn the flash off. I also find it very small, I prefer a solid feel camera in my hands. I have a Minolta HiMatic AF2 which is also a point and shoot but one can change the ISO and there is no flash always on issue, it also has a great lens. The Minolta is my preferred over the Olympus Mju II, which now sits in a drawer in my home.
Thanks for the comments, I defiantly would like to try a compact with more control like ISO/aperture in the future but it needs to be as small/light and not cost the earth.
I bought it quite cheap but the flash broken other than that i really enjoy this camera.it got me addicted to film
That's probably a good thing as you don't have to remember to turn it off when you open the camera to take a shot :)
I have one of these cameras.
When I put its batteries in and open the mechanism, a red light comes on in front of the camera, but the display does not show any type of information, it remains blank.
Has this happened to someone?
Hi thanks for watching. Unfortunately, it sounds like your copy is faulty. Without film, an E should display on the LCD.
Hi ! Loved your video :) Did you have any trouble with light leaks on this camera ? I got one coming from back, check the seals and they look good so I taped the film window. I'll try another roll. The leak seems to come from left and bottom of rear camera according to position on negatives. Thanks !
Thanks arthur. Fortunately I haven't had any obvious issues with light leaks with my version of this camera.
@@ChrisEdgecombePhoto Thanks for taking some time to reply ! I'll see what happens with my next roll then. I don't really think the rubber seals could be faulty.
I just loked on ebay. The prices for these small Olympus Mju cameras are really way out of hand. I'm happy with my SLR thankfully. Those shoots do look very good though. Excellent quality.
Thanks for commenting; I agree the pricing is all over the place for these types of camera especially if they are likened to the Mju and Contax style compacts. I was really surprised at the results but do enjoy using an SLR too but would want to lug it around all the time 😄.
Fantastic video Chris! A little gem of a camera.
Does this one read the film ISO from the DXO code on the film or do you set the ISO?
🤓👍 I like my point and shoot for the same reasons, for the everyday snaps on the run.
Glad you enjoyed it Scott. There is no option to select the ISO so I believe that the camera reads the DXO code on the film. It goes upto ISO 3200.
@@ChrisEdgecombePhoto ah brilliant, great it goes upto 3200 too! Could see that being great at a wedding as a guest snapping. 3200 Black and white on the dancefloor 😍🥰 is there a flash cancellation option too?
@@Spencer_White Yes, when you open the clamshell, just tap the flash button twice to turn it off.
I just bought one but I need to buy film for it, what kind should I get?
Depends what you want to shoot and whether you want to shoot colour or B&W.
Do you still use it by the way? What's your grab and go choice?
Lucy, thanks for the comments. It depends on how much control you want over your images. If you want to shoot film but don't have the time or inclination to work out what aperture, shutter speed or exposure compensation you want and don't want to take the time to focus manually then yes I would say for me in those scenarios the AF-1 Mini still fits that brief for my go to film point and shoot camera.
just bought one - this vid makes me excited so thank you
Good to hear Natalie, hope you get some great results.
