Spoiler: the suits are fake. Simon is AI
Glass and rum my favorite cocktail
bro can you do anything right
I love how low key this launch video is, it's like you guys just found out you're a synthesizer company this morning and are a bit amused by the idea.
Very much like that, yeah haha.
woah
i hear they are looking for someone to do a video manual ;-)
@@cod.liver.failureLook Mum No Computer or Hainbach would be good people to send one of these to. Maybe not for a video manual, but for a review video. Seeing as how they are into unusual music hardware.
Woah indeed
Ha! ha ha! I saw your face light up in my head as soon as a read the comment
All the drone and musicial drone stuff make it a very fun Instrument. The cycling Round Robin concept is really innovative and intresting + effects and jazz arp magic.
Thank you! 😁
Oj oj oj! I started watching your videos ages ago, at the time you asked people to send you pedals to be circuit bent, the world was black and white, everything moved too fast. But look at you now, you made a beautiful baby! became a responsible dad in a suit and everything. That name though. Does it imply that you want Robin to be what you were never could, be round?
But seriously, Congratulations
Thank you for sticking around all this time to finally seeing me dress proper 😆😆
why did i think it was like, a wifi keyboard that connected to each other and make music in multiplayer mode
Because it might be (give it a year, but also don't really think about it too much, please. I beg you. DO NOT)
You look good in a suit. Like a circuit bending lawyer.
I am only 3 minutes into this video and already decided I am going to get this instrument
What a creative device! I would love to give this to a kid and just say “figure it out!”
I think that's what they did.
You made the perfect Stereolab instrument. Very good indeed!
oof I'm feeling bloated from all this GAS
You now have my money. Maybe I will give you more of my money... Everyone needs one (or two) of these. Thank you so much!!!
Round robin super cluster can't hurt you, it's not real.
This comment:
I actually love this. It looks and sounds like a proper fun tool.
I dont want to sound stupid but im considering this and I dont know much about synths.
Is it polyphonic and can I connect a midi keyboard as a keybed
@@Elsewhere-g2z It definitly has a midi-in for external equipment like PC, Keyboard, sequencer etc. I am not sure about the multi-timbrality, as from the video i can tell at least 4 notes simultaniously. Also there is a link in the video description to the preorder page with a manual and a discord server where you can aks questions.
This is the first video & instrument i have seen from this channel. Its wonderful, please continue making neat instruments
We will!
it's amazing. very much worth the presentation suits
Yes. Been eagerly awaiting this! 🥳
This is so amazing! Great work Simon, Analog, and DDC!!!
I love the interface drawings! Super cool and full of character!
That's such a crazy instrument! Amazing job, congrats to you and all the team behind it!
Fantastic synth! Well done guys...looks cool, sounds good, lots of functionality.....
Great job y'all! This really is something special. I'm excited to see how people use it.
Great work on this you guys!
I would like to hear this in a musical context with some of your effect pedals maybe.
That is coming hopefully very soon indeed 😁
Awesome. Great work
What a crazy little machine!! The possibilities seem endless!
Absolutely 💯 !
Nice one 🎉
Very critter and guitari ish. But you know deeper. Nice.
Really awesome. I look forward to the tear down and the design decision video. 😀
Ah hell yeah, i'm gonna nerd out on some specific ass details of HW implementations
I saw the suits and got scared that I won’t be able to afford anything now that you are looking good and you have embraced the corporate paradigm.😂 Neat synth.
хорошая шутка
Just finished the video and saw you might hire someone to make a video manual. I make video manuals for the Synthstrom Deluge and AE Modular. If what you see on my channel is to your taste, I'd be happy to produce a manual for this too.
looks and sounds amazing
love you guys so much
Congrats!!! That hold feature is a super smart design, this is going to be an drone monster with pedals!
Eheh, i'm glad you think it's smart design! Because it's sort of a nightmare lol
this is really cool
Major organelle vibes. Might need one asap.
I'd love this one in my new studio!!!!
Super impressive! Neat instrument
Super inspiring synth!
I love the lens over the screen, gives a very analog feel!
I trust your suits and these avionics and this sounds wonderful
Looks awesome and fun
Congrats gentlemen, a fine looking and sounding synthmachine that will tempt my wallet into various indiscretions
Reminds me of the "Day of the Tentacle" score so much. Love the retro vibes!
Suh dudes! Very impressive!
beautiful machine .!
Goodness gracious, if I had a spare $450. This is a super cool synthesizer, definitely interested in buying soon
Some people in this funny old world I really would love to hug, say thank you and buy them a drink....you know who you are x
Pinta muy bien 🙌👏👏
It is beautiful
Supercool, might get one
Interpolate! I love this.
Beautiful 🙏
Best gear that you've done! Do more!
On it!
I love this concept and the design is sweet, I would personally swap the filter and the envelope tho. I've used modules that have sliders for cutoff/resonance, and it's not NEARLY as satisfying or tweakable. I think like the feel of the filter is more important than feel the envelope controls.
Fantastic
Awesome!!!
Love. It.
I love this. I have no synth knowledge (my only synth is a korg monotron duo, so basically a toy), but I want one. Hope to be able to afford one when it comes out, and if its not immediately sold out.
Left-right cutoff and reso faders, interesting layout
This great!
now we are talking
BATTERIES! YES!
This feels like an evolution of the deep space devices antikythera.
27:45 The camera died!! lmao, just the perfect plot twist, couldn't have been better if you planned it!
Something so compelling about men in suits being creatively childlike.
Google ads are working - Beautiful synth. Functional, portable, interesting. I don’t see this collecting a whole lot of dust.
Cool! Congrats on the launch
No, you're cool
This looks awesome. I LOVE that you included microtonal stuff. The round robin arpeggiator sounds fantastic. Just add a beat and a simple bass line and you have a song. I am assuming it can accept MIDI clock.
Recording the sliders is brilliant. I wonder if this will do 303 type shenanigans. Because Recording the filter cutoff would give you a hands free 303. Even if it doesn't sound like a 303, it could still be really cool.
I love how different this is to other synths. $450 is more than I would like to spend. But this looks like it's worth it. Well done!
This is really awesome. But I hope you've thought about MIDI out, because that's a powerful sequencer I can imagine people wanting to use with their other synths.
If we implemented that, It'd be only available through USB, since it was never intended to be a midi controller
@@ddcddc_
Sure. I suspected that. But worth thinking about for version 2. ;-)
Smart ideea. Departmetalizing a wave form in 4 segments. Very cool,
Looks like a police car radio station?
It’s perfect
18 min - this is beatutiful!
You two are so wonderfully awkward and so creative. :>
*Cries in too busy to be in the video*
oh my god i need this so bad
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, I wish I wasn't broke atm. I have a Moog Matriarch, and while it also does the round robin oscillator feature, it always felt like it wasn't really made for that, so a dedicated synth for that would be fun.
Haha perhaps you should get Loopop to review it! Great job guys. Looks like a fun device.I bet the first thing people will ask for is Loading your own samples or waveforms! But it is not a sample player. Or is it?
wow this is an unbelievably inspiring synth!! insane amount of features. I hate to be that guy but the lydian scale on the scale mode seems to erroneously have a flattened seventh degree (the Bb should be a B). still a beautiful scale but just thought I'd point it out!
Oh nice catch! We now plan to go through all of them over on the discord again in case we missed some more😆 feel free to join!
@@SimonTheMagpie With the Bb it's Lydian dominant (aka overtone series scale), which is also very useful, but @JadenRaso is correct, C lydian has B natural. Great synth btw!
soo niiice
This is sick as fick
🔥
🎉 looks like a lot of fun! Curious to hear more about the waveforms! (Are they editable/replaceable? Sounds like youve set them different based on the instrument if i'm understanding correctly.)
That is deserving of a long proper answer. So for now I’ll just say that YES they are both editable and replaceable, just not when they are inside Round Robin. Not in their base form sorta speak. But you gave me a very potentially fun idea that I’m gonna float with Analog and DDC so will have way more to say next week in video answer to this question! 😁
They're baked in the firmware, and there's no way for the user to edit them/upload their own. There might be ways to achieve such a result, but the unit was not designed to do that, so i don't wanna give anyone hopes for a future update where this is possible. But i don't wanna say that it's not possible.
@@ddcddc_ totally makes sense. I was thinking along the lines of being able to reflash the firmware with (for example) a different version of one of the instruments (where the wavs were replaced). That being said, I don't think there's anything wrong with being prescriptive about it (ie the waveforms y'all chose were (presumably?) chosen for a reason), just the first place my brain went when thinking about the way it's uniquely set up.
@@TemporallyYours you literally described 90% of what we're gonna do. Something along the line of different firmware that may or may not be custom. I had an idea that might be doable and might actually allow some degree of user customization. We're gonna talk about it in an update i guess!
7.06 I fell in love
Why don't you always wear three-piece suit? It suits you so much! Magician vibe!
did you just created a perfect thing ??
great
Am I translating that price right, 420 quid? Robbing Around may be a better name - I'll wait for the Behringer clone. 😂
Yummy and sweet looking. Liquorice allsorts made in to synths, just my thing 🤘
We do not recommend eating the unit
Great thing, guys! How about presets (sound, scale/arp settings), are there any?
Will there be stereo functions? Like a arp panned with different tempos, pitches ect.
Sorry to say that it is limited to mono out on the hardware side of things. However I do like the idea of doing that over midi. So it outputs one arp on audio and another one on midi. I will write that up and ask Analog 😁 maybe a future update!
@@SimonTheMagpie wow yes, you should ask analog, the midi guy, as we all know him
I think that was a lydian dominant scale, rather than just lydian, it's the Bb that should be B♮
I would love to see inside it, or do I have to buy it first?
I feel like this should be on the organelle. Totally doable in Pure Data.
SUPER COOL! but...where did the web link to all of your other pedals go? Your site only has the Round Robin right now.
Classic simon TBH
😮 [wowing intensifies]
I do very much appreciate the microtones
Can I see the back panel? Is there midi/volts_per_oct ?
It's a poor man's Astrolab!😅😅
Nick batt is gonna get one yes????
This is beautiful. Can you speak to repairability?
Hello! This is being covered over on discord atm since we had some durability questions over there. Also I can totally make videos for all possible hypothetical future repair scenarios 😁
I see a HUGE midi in... and what about the midi out, with this strange but interesting arpeggio capability of this gear? 🙂👍
We could probably eventually do midi out on the USB.
@@NicStage For a synthesizer with such analog use as this one, a true midi output, even a jack type, is needed. Please put it one... 👃🙂
I am really curious about midi implementation. would love to play this with my theremin
Idk what you have in mind, but there will be CC to control most (if not all) parameters. Midi note on/off messages are a given. Pitchbend too. Might code up some SysEx stuff, but that might come later on, because i really don't know what would we use that for lol
@@ddcddc_ a specific thing im thinking of is the pitch bend range. i can output pitch bend with the 14 bit high res setting (i hope im using the right words, im not a pro) using my pitch antenna on my claravox. a lot of synths i have tried to control via midi this way often cannot change the pitch bend range high enough (needs about 2-3 octaves up and down around the center note chosen on the theremin). also would be cool if it could accept poly aftertouch and note off velocity for pairing up with something like the hydrasynth.
@@GillamtheGreatest i'm not sure about the note off/aftertouch things. I'm not a midi expert, but i can look into it. And for pitchbend, we can make the range configurable. MIDI 1.0 pitchbend message is always 14 bits, so it's gonna be compatible with any midi compliant controller!
