Most of us either gave up or had 'a friend' who is just like Bill, knew how to tune a carb, set up a distributor and time an engine to make it run as best it can. Old school principles of meaning what you say, and doing what you say are sadly missing in far too many people these days. Good friends like Dennis Place to you guys and some of my late fathers friends live by these principles and their friends do the same and trust gets built over decades of being there when needed and being there for them when they need help in turn. Glad you were able to find the problem with the lifters and rockers adjustments. I had some Rhoades lifters in my CJ at one time and the engine would just lay down at anything above 6200 rpm, a cam change and solid lifers and Harlan Sharpe roller rockers and it would pull really hard to 7500rpm, probably further but didn't want to twist that old FE more than that. I been a spectrum tech for 10 years in Louisiana, a crimped wire will definitely cause problems that aren't always visible to the tech and his meter. Also you could have a neighbor with bad cable wires backfeeding noise into the system causing modems to drop off. To be honest there are all kinds of things that cause equipment to drop off. If the problem persist keep calling in. Don't put up with it for months before calling back in. The more you call the more they notice, and believe me every supervisor, manager, and field tech will hear about it. At least that's how it is down here. We get emails every day with the list of repeats and are expected to answer why a customer had to call in so many times and what did we find. Good luck

    • @tuk2433
      @tuk2433 Před 2 lety

      @The Old Man’s Garage
      I disagree entirely with Spectrum's analysis of the internet problems you are having. "Dust" and "Not having their Appliance", in the window in a excuse and just shows that the techs they have working them haven't a cue. Signal issues to the modem have to be within range, i agree. Coax and or fiber crimps / connections need to be perfect and their is no excuse for this, If a recurring problem has been your experience. My suggestion and i have plenty of experience to back it up is to ditch all of the Spectrum gear that they want you to use ( monthly rental probably ) and purchase your own cable modem ( if that is what your service is ) and just have them connect your modem to their network. Everything else downstream should be your networking gear ( Mesh networks ) work well, but i highly recommend running cat/5/6 wire as a hardwired infrastructure between buildings and using non wireless routers and switches to support wireless access points. Ditch Spectrum's gear and invest in a real network, your YT channel / business depends on it or keep being frustrated and listening to Spectrum tech excuses.

    • @MrKKUT1984
      @MrKKUT1984 Před 2 lety

      @@tuk2433 the dust excuse is bogus unless there was enough built up on the equipment to cause it to overheat, the only thing about keeping any equipment in the window would be if it overheats from roasting in the direct sun for hours which is highly unlikely this time of year as it's not even hot enough down here yet for that to happen. But yes the signal levels have to be within spec and it doesn't matter what equipment you have how expensive it may or may not be if the levels aren't good it won't work. Period. With that said there are plenty of people who have our equipment that works great with zero issues and there are cases of the opposite. Just know that if something happens to our equipment we replace it free of charge, or if you buy your own which is perfectly fine you are responsible for it, setting it up and if it takes a dump on you. But you definitely have much more control over what you get and what features said equipment has. There is no fee for the modems and the wifi is $5 a month. Which is pretty reasonable for most people. But still none of that matters if there is an issue that hasn't been resolved. And the best way to do that is make some noise if it persist. The squeaky wheel gets the grease

      @@MrKKUT1984 For the average home user a all in one gateway may be fine, especially if it is broadcasting from the center of the house. Beyond this, it is limited. I have procured internet to many homes dealing with all the top ISPs and i will say, especially the residential installs the techs
      knowledge is basic. Sure there are veterans who know their stuff. Renting a large corporations equipment is foolish and becomes a slave to there system. Most users are complacent and don't know any better.

    • @MrKKUT1984
      @MrKKUT1984 Před 2 lety

      @@tuk2433 I wouldn't say it's foolish at all. You go out and easily spend $200 + on your own equipment and take a lightning strike (which happens alot down here) and now all your equipment is toast. You have to go buy all new equipment again unless it's under warranty still. For most families renting the router is plenty good enough, on average that wifi 6 router covers a 2000 square foot home and supports enough bandwidth. If they have larger homes, bigger families where they may have alot of kids and everyone has devices then I tell them a mesh network is going to be a much better option for them. Another thing is not everyone has the skills or knowledge to set up Hotspots or wire a home with ethernet nor do they have the money to pay someone to do it for them. And when it comes to techs not having knowledge yeah there are some people who just aren't that good and some who are new and just don't have the experience yet. Just like IT people. And also people don't realize that a cable tech is not responsible for individually addressing your equipment with our equipment nor are they trained for that. With charter/spectrum in particular on a business account the tech is responsible for everything from the tap to the equipment which means just making sure WE have internet straight out of the modem or router. We are not responsible for YOUR equipment nor are we allowed to touch your equipment. And on residential we can hook your equipment up ie tvs, computers, tablets and so on and make sure internet is working on at least 1 device. Most techs will try hooking every up for you but if you have 1or 2 devices that aren't working out of many that are, we aren't responsible for that.

      @@MrKKUT1984 I respect your position to defend the company you work for. Spectrum. But, i don't agree with your logic and how it pertains to The Old Man Garage's business and what is the best solution for them. So many better options when informed and you don't settle for the status quo. Spectrum.

    For your suspension test you'd probably get a pretty decent idea of the effect of the shocks if your first pass you run the shocks full loose on all of the clickers then go to an actual baseline shock setting for the second.
    Keep up the good work sir!

    I think the spacer will be an excellent addition on the Mali! Heck before when I was fuel injection I even had a throttle body spacer and loved it. Then when I motor swapped I still injoyed putting a carborator spacer on. Its almost a must have.

    The super victor intake is a great intake for high rpm race applications, but in the Malibu I can't help to think an intake like a performer rpm air gap being a smaller runner dual plane would not only help throttle response but also make more torque and horsepower across the board in your current combination at every rpm range except for maybe at your max rpm...I bet just this intake swap would be worth a couple tenths in the quarter...love the content and everything you guys are doing!!! Be blessed brother!!!

    Glad to seen Denny in this Video he’s been absent too long. And ain’t no better feeling in the world when you’re building a street car and testing at the track. You make that pass and they hand you that ticket and see you ain’t got a cage and they tell you your done too fast for no cage. Or not enough cage for the Et you just ran. It make a person smile knowing that street car is coming around.
