The applause after she removes the black cape consists a classic ESC moment, for me at least.
yeah and look at the show now, here was the music in front. Now is all Bullshit
Croatian sounds awesome . Greetings from Türkiye
2022.
This song should won! Beautiful voice, beautiful woman, beautiful song...
Everything was spectacular!
Legendary.....❤
True winner 1998
Still gives me goosebumps. This should've been the winner.
This is my runner up, after the United Kingdom.
That dress reveal is a Top 5 of all time moment for me.
Honestly all of the top 5 bar Israel would have been worthy winners
so agree :)
Tough year, but great, great song and performance.. I still listen to it 20+ years later, and serbo-Croatian is not my native tongue, but she is mesmerizing.. love her phrasing also
This must be the best opening ever in the ESC history. And the best Croatian entry with 1999
What about the opening in 1984?
And how you have seen the Croatian entries from 1990 *, 1989*, 1987*, and in 1995? (In years with *, they were Croatian represents for Yugoslavia!)
P.S. In 1984 they won (Sweden), maybe because of the draw. Spain or Ireland were higher class!
@@aleksandaraleksovski2423 in 1975 and 1976 the winner opened the contest.
Beautiful lady. Beautiful song. Still my favourite 21 years later
Thank you 😊
She still looks like this. 🤗🤗
Dama, lepotica, vrhunska pesma, performans❤❤❤
this and Doris were the best Croatians entries ever
Doris was Yugoslavian entry
@@draganadc he means Doris 1999. For Yugoslavia Doris was there 1986
@@draganadc Doris and Maria Magdalena IT S NOT Yougoslavian entry at all ! It was Croatian entry! Second Doris is Criatian singer ! Third in .1999 Yougosoavia didn t exist !! Doris 1986 'Zeljo moja" was Yiugoslavian entry but even than t she was representativ of TV Zagreb witch is today HRT (Croatian radio television !) So your commment doesn t make any sense !
@@zb496 Whatever...that stuff doesn't bother me at all...
Till now 😉
One of the 10 best Eurovision songs of all time.
Agree the BBC concert orchestra and set design was amazing
When the orchestra elevates already a great song...Classic! :)
For me this is one of the best songs ever from the Eurovision contest
Fun fact; this is Icelandic entrant Selma's favorite Eurovision song!
BUT THIS IS FROM 1998 SELMA IN 1999@@Euroviking86
I agree😊
Should have been the winner!!!
A song I truly dislike.
The orchestra really adds to the quality of this song. The live version is much better than the studio version.
Danijela and this song show what used to be wonderful about the Eurovision Song Contest: a great singer, a great song, sung in the country’s own beautiful language, and a great orchestration.
Beautiful and powerful!
I kiss her when I bring her a red 🌹 at HRT show at dance floor!
Crazy thing she( Danijela) still looks the same in 2020 hahaha
25 Years Later.I like this song! 🧡
12 points from Israel
A beautiful song in croatian with a famous croatian singer...
The top !👍♥️
She managed to come 5th in a televote-only ballad with a ballad in a native language after after being 1st in the running order 😎 She beat pretty much every predictor of a bad result 😂
My favorite Croatian entry! The orchestral arrangement just adds to the beauty of this song! Hvala Danijela!
One of the best eurovision song of all time!❤️
Legendary! This song should won! Beautiful voice...
This and Israel were my favorites, so I was pretty happy with the results ; )
Agree
Koliko volim Danijelu,Grasu i ovu pjesmu..kao klinka sam imitirala ovu izvedbu danima.. Djetinjstvo 😍
Amazing orchestral arrangement.
My favourite eurovision song of all time ❤️
Hands down my favourite song that year. Memorable voting, very tight in the top. Don't mind Dana International wining, but Danijela was amazing!!! Love Croatia from Poland ❤
Pozdrav iz Hrvatske prijatelju dragi. Cheers ❤
masterpiece! greetings from Greece
It is such a beautiful language! 😊👌
This song aged so gracefully...very diferent from the winner that year
I think if she had performed more in the second row of the show she would have made it to the top two for sure. Remember this was the first year with televoting, being first that night performing, I think it did hurt her a place or two and not have her in the top three.
This and Rim tim tagi dim are my fav Croatian entries ❤
Now, this is Class you have a live singer no crap behind her just a voice to die for, and a live orchestra from Ireland 12 points.
I remember the Video to this on Irish TV R.T.E. they showed the Euro preview ON A SUNDAY and I remember this classic Danijela hair was jet black
IT WAS SO CLEVER TO GIVE Danijela blonde hair.
That was in the good old years when Croatia still sent great entries to the Eurovision. I miss those days. Neka mi ne svane is such a good song and Danijela is a terrific singer.
2024 ❤❤❤❤
This is the first Eurovision performance I watched in my life! What a great premier :)
I can't comprehend how this did not win... Just ridiculous.
Danijela is awesome as the song is.🥰🌠 Croatian entries rarely fail. They have beautiful mediterranean breeze.🌬🌊 ne ka mi ne🎵🎶🎵🎶
Cok tesekkurler! Greetings from Hrvatistan! 🌹
@@vilavelebita88 🥰🌊🌺
stunning. would have been a well deserved winner
Croatia 10 points and 2 points for the beautiful Croatian language = 12 points.
12 points from Israel! My favorite song from the entire 90's
Danijela - To me She is always one the Best!
This is pure magic!!
That song should have won❤
This Song should won, that's thrue..but croatian have Not a lot of luck on eurosong..
ESC 1998 has the best top 5
That was what I call Eurovision Song Contest with live orchestra not this shit what we have today.
So agree
kako čudovit glas od divne Danijele
Sjecam se davne 1998. Ovu sam evroviziju morala snimati na video kasetu. Posto BiH nije ucestvovala, navijali smo naravno za Hrvatsku. Predivna pjesma 😍
@@ivanmikulic2182 Pozz iz Bihaca. 😀
@@petarmisic8718 Hvala. Lijep pozdrav. 😀
Time to say, wonderfuuuuuuuuuul!!!!!!!! Even in 2020, thank you ...
A very nice song !!
A very nice voice !!
It's just great song 😢💞🇭🇷
notice on how this song tastes so much perfect this way rather than the studio version
The live version is really special, yes. First of all the performence by Danijela is very good. But I think it's the orchestral arrangement by Stipica Kalogjera played by the BBC Concert Concert Orchestra which really makes this magical.
@@escLIVEmusic1 in any case this song would have been killed if it had the studio version playing.
No wonder its my all time favourite
@@escLIVEmusic1 daniela was actually sick here, had a flu... So she had trouble singing :)
@@Dynoman9398 Still sang beautifully🥰
Still Wonderful 😘👍🏻
Opening act and she was 5th!!! She would be in TOP3 if she was preformed in second half. Brava Danijela ❤️
My childhood song, favourite one. Goosebumps 😊 thank you for your kind words all. Greetings from Croatia 🤗
She is and remains the winner ... She is the most unique A absolutli UNIKAT ,She is a person that I never before met in my Live ...
She is the Only winner 💎 in my heart 💙
Her name is GOLDEN ČUPAVA
My 🍀
Ovu pjesmu volim i danas 💞
Masterpiece!
i love this song and it should have won the Eurovision song contest
This is 1999 Icelandic entrant Selma's favorite Eurovision entry!
@@DuchessTheAristocat She's actually the third member of Euroband and she performed the song at their show in Iceland that I went to. I believe she also stated it before when she sang it on Icelandic TV.
Beautiful and has such a strong melody.
Fantasticna Danijela ❤!
Najbolja Grasina pjesma u bajkovitom izdanju njegove inspiracije i savršene Fanijeline izvedbe.jos se jezim i drhtim koliko je ovo moćno jaka stvar.

Another day has passed by
Once more, the moon has come
Silently, like a dear guest
To abridge my mornings
For the sorrow leads me through the years
Steals the dream, till a new day dawns
May the dawn never rise
May I disappear, may I cease to exist
May I not wake up without you
May the dawn never rise
May I disappear, may I cease to exist
May I not wake up without you

Silently, like a dear guest
To abridge my mornings
For the sorrow leads me through the years

Such sad and tragic lyrics! In my opinion Danijela moves too sensual on stage for such lyrics. Her performance doesn't translate the emotion of mourning and depression, only feminity.
@@voloshanca To be honest, reading these lyrics in English (very good traslation actually), it does sound tragic and dark and my thought was also like yours: her stage performance does not correspond to the lyrics and atmosphere of the song. On the other hand, listening to ithe song in Croatian, there's nothing wrong with her coreography and the atmosphere of the song is not nearly as dark as it is in the English version. I guess it's what they call Lost in Translation.
Therefore, you can find an english version of this song on her album "To malo ljubavi", and we may talk again!
czcams.com/video/P9YbWc9mGSw/video.html
The translation by Jonathan is almost perfect, but if you do not like it, listen the english version.
@@aleksandaraleksovski2423You must"ve misunderstood what I'd written. I never said at any point Jonathan"s translation was not good. On the contrary. At the same time, I'm aware of the english version of the song from "To malo ljubavi". album.
Dla mnie najlepsza piosenka Eurowizji lat 90 XX wieku wszech czasów . Poland
THIS is how you open Eurovision! Very memorable! 😍
Hrvaysko Cer
Hvala puno
Danijela
Jako lijepo izvedeno, otpjevano❤❤❤
I wish some people who spoke English regardless if they don’t understand my language At all (hrvatski) would listen to this and feel the goosebumps and the absolute amazement I feel listening to this. I wish I could have been there to see it live. Wonderful
as someone who speaks English and doesn’t speak in her tongue, this song gives me the goosebumps. That’s why I love Eurovision because it is the full embodiment of universal language of music and the breaking of language barriers
There was some very good songs that year.
Wow..that was amazing. Who's here in 2020?
Does 2022 count? 😄
What about 2024?😊
@@wissmit That's awesome. I love the internet. Just out of curiosity, what is your age range?
@@JeremyUSA I'm 43, and yes - the Internet is just great in showing us sometimes very unexpected and wonderful things)
Watch the Eurovision Song Contest when Doris Dragović performed, Danijela had a great song, beautiful sentimental and tender while Doris Dragović had a powerful and stage strong song, for me the two most beautiful and best songs ever performed at the Eurovision Song Contest. This is what every Eurovision song contest should look like.
This was great performance of a good song.
I love this songs and it should have won the Eurovision song contest and it is so stunning
❤ I like this song. 1998 was one of the really good ESC years. ❤
best first song for a long time, bad luck cause it was one of the strongest contests
I just came to say that this (and Dana International) was Eurovision's cultural reset
Classic Eurovision moment! Superb...

Pomakni se, Michele Pfeiffer 🙌
Serbian lyrics for this song would be exactly the same, the only difference would be that in Serbian from Serbia they'd say mesec instead of mjesec. In Serbian from outside of Serbia It's also mjesec.😊
