      @@Caromaros A few years ago, he awkwardly flirted with some fans online (who are NOT underage), with their obvious consent. Because of Caff and Turps being dropped and the controversy surrounding that whole debacle, Lewis had to start tightening the rules and taking a no nonsense policy. Some people brought up Sjin's awkward flirting and provided some pictures, claimed that the flirting made them uncomfortable, and as a result, they had to take action. This action, was pretty much forcing/pressuring Sjin to leave. Sjin 'technically' left of his own accord, but it is very much obvious that Sjin was forced.
      It's all just a mess really, Sjin simply apologizing for making anyone uncomfortable would have been completely fine. Due to poor handling with the situation, he's now just being compared to Caff and Turps, who did far worse than his awkward flirting. It isn't any better when people like you (I mean no offence when I say this, just pointing this out) who are misinformed because of others also being misinformed and spreading misinformation, which paints an innocent person in a negative light and contributing to generally making a persons life miserable.
      Seriously, it's just a mess.
      TL:DR: He awkwardly flirted online with a few fans who also returned the flirting with Sjin a few years back, he did not assault anyone nor did he harass anyone either.

  • @Wandervenn
    @Wandervenn Před 4 lety +196

    I'd say there was a Golden Age and a Renaissance for joining Yogs.
    Like in the beginning Hannah, Sips, Sjin, Duncan, etc probably got huge boosts especially since the Yogs were fairly popular. Then minecraft became less popular but still the way to go for most channels who built their community on it. So new channels joined and unless you were like Kim or Hat Films who did collabs with the bigger channels often you missed out on a lot of the benefits (P. Flax, Bebopvox, Caff, etc) and they were also accepting a lot of new members at the time but not doing a great deal to expose them beyond a couple shoutouts. A lot of channels like Strippin and Bebop also quickly became inactive or distant from the yogs content.
    Now we have a revival and I feel that I'm finding plenty of new creators from the Yogs again or old members who didnt get much spotlight. Mostly in part to main channel TTT being a good way for people to get a feel for someone's personality without having to search for one of their videos. Now we have Bouphe, Lydia, Mousie, Spiff, Ben, Tom, Zylus, friggin Daltos etc that I cant imagine not being part of the Yogs.

    To be fair as well, when he first put out dig'n'rig, those videos were hilarious. His way of characterizing things and people in the games he played was hilarious. Since he started streaming instead, he's mellowed out a lot and lost a lot of that original humor. He's still funny, but he is not the same as he was.

    dont know about streaming days but for youtube you also had access to editors and artists and stuff. Doing all that yourself is a massive time and motovation drain.

    I'd always thought Sips and Sjin came much later. I didn't even like Sips at first cos I didn't get his sense of humour. A few videos before the Jaffa Factory. Then the Jaffa Factory came and just from being exposed to Sips I started to understand him better and then he became one of my favourites. I really used to love when they'd pair Sips and Sjin together for things like Gary's Mod builds and they would just troll the entire time. I'd actually just be in stitches watching them frustrate Lewis and the crew by not taking it seriously. Remember that one video where they had to build cars and Tom had to step in as like a mod for the video and tell them to take it more seriously? Still remember laughing so hard at that

    Man, looking back on the yogs it makes me sad that we'll never get to see Sjin with them again, nor will we get to see the big Minecraft series' with everyone. I love all of the content they produce, even the constant TTT videos. I just hope one day they'll get back to being popular again and be more inclined to making videos on games that they really want to play, without thinking about if it will be popular enough.

    Something I'm so interested in these days is the rise and fall of mega channels due to the individual exposure of their employees/contractors. Like Rooster Teeth... It's only as valuable as its members, but it brought those people together and developed their chemistry. And in many early cases, made those people's careers. To the point where people get attached to the members and not the business itself. You're basically building these people up to the point where they leave you because of the equity they have with people in your community, and in some cases, take those fans with them completely. And then you're basically hoping that new talent can take their position and keep the fan base or grow a new one.
    It's like in old, super long-lived tv shows when someone would leave because they got too famous. The only difference is they usually left to do different things, not play the same character, just on a different platform like it is with new media.

    Yogscast is special in the way that everyone just seems like a family. Most MCNs don't feel that way anymore really. Like how many networks can boast their creators have karaoke night and hosts one of the biggest gaming charity events?

      @finleyjennings6051 Před 3 lety +3

      It annoys me when people say that the Yogscast is too corperate now and they used to be just friends messing about. They have to be reasonable and make buisness decisions yes but you would be lying if the main draw of joining the Yogscast isn't the creator support network and the loyal community. When joining the Yogs there are no contractual obligations to collab or video appearance quotas, you don't have to engage at all and some don't (like vadact or hitscan) which is fine but there's a reason so many do and the Jingle Jam wouldn't be as good if they weren't all friends.

    So I've read alot into why Yogscast fell and it seems to be 3 major reasons. 1 Minecraft became unpopular after awhile and since they were a heavy Minecraft franchise they went down with the ship. 2 major content creators leaving, primarily Simmon and Sijn arguably the 2 most popular content creators. 3 CZcams changed, especially with the ADpocalypse. CZcams just became a platform that wasn't really worth the trouble anymore and with the rise of Twitch it became more advantageous to just abandon CZcams. Take Sips channel for example he doesn't even really use his channel any more but he's on twitch everyday. These 3 reasons are what I've gathered from the community as to why Yogscast fell.

      When you have a group who are so tight and work so well together the second you start taking members out of that it breaks hard. Turps fucked up no excuses for him sjin get fake accusations and fired undeserved but lomadiah blackmailed lewis to fire him then she left the company straight after (total scumbag bitch) but anyway with 2 core members gone they just started splitting up. They couldn't even gets sips to be in videos anymore simon was gone 90% of the time for health reasons so they just went to a total new crew full of diversity hires which obviously didn't match comedy or chemistry.
      Biggest cause of dead channels on youtube is people forgetting their roots. These were a group of friends playing games together. You can't simply ditch and replace a group like that and expect fans to stay. Just look at achievement hunter. Channel pulling 1-5 million views per video most of the og cast gone now channel is currently pulling 10-30k views per video lol. Idk why people expect channels to stay popular if the entire cast has changed.
