It's thoughtful of the Enterprise's HR team (seems to be Riker and Troi) to station most of the ugly-faced aliens in the nacelle tube where the rest of the crew don't have to look at them.

11:42 Previous episodes with the Traveller and Where No Man Has Gone Before have established that at the level of subspace, thoughts and reality are one in the same. Same reason Q’s powers and the Enterprise D jumping to warp have the exact same flash effect. So this actually fits within TNG’s world building.

Imagine if Troi and Worf got together and had children (like in Parallels), their off-spring would be part-Warrior, part-Empath. So they could bat'leth you to death, and feel your pain at the same time. 😱

This is not so much Picard's first suicide as it is just his first SUCCESSFUL suicide, and that's only if you don't count visitors who left the ship to kill themselves (which happened at least twice).
Worf attempted suicide at least twice.

They do make some good points but sometimes I think they get a bit too hung up on some of the technical aspects of the shows plot points while ignoring others. There will always be plot holes in a Sci Fi show but there are times where it's up to the viewer to use their own imagination a little bit to elevate the viewing experience.
For example, I'm not a big fan of this particular episode...not because it "never really happened outside of Troy's mind," but moreso because it involved brand new characters that we have no emotional investment in.
