  • This London walk takes place in Kingston-upon-Thames in Surrey - a 30-minute train ride from Waterloo Station. This 17-minute walk takes you along the River Thames on a beautiful autumn day with Halloween just around the corner. The sky is blue, the trees are turning yellow and orange, and everyone is enjoying one of our final warm days to make the most of the sunny riverside before more ‘typical’ autumn weather takes hold.
The walk starts at Ravens Ait which is on Portsmouth Road just down from Harts Boatyard pub. I walk along Queens Promenade past all the river views, coffee shops and restaurants to Kingston Bridge. There is a Part 2 video which takes you into Kingston Town Centre via the ancient market place, Clattern Bridge and red telephone boxes to complete the walk.
All parts of the walk along the route I have taken are timestamped below.
    Route timestamps:
0:25 Ravens Ait to Kingston Bridge along Queens Promenade 17:30
03:05 Riverside toilets (not always open)
    05:15 Riverside coffee shop
    05:45 Parrs Boats
08:25 Turks Launches (one of their boats was in the Karma Chameleon video for Culture Club)
10:15 Riverside restaurants, pubs and coffee shops 15:50
    17:30 Kingston Bridge
The two combined walks - Kingston Riverside (Part 1) and Kingston Town Centre (Part 2) - work very well in reverse, starting at the telephone boxes and ending at Ravens Ait where a pub or two is around the corner for refreshment before the return walk. Or you could continue to Surbiton (around 20 minutes) and get a train to Waterloo from there (I can provide route information or a new walking video on this). From Surbiton you can also take a train to Hampton Court (King Henry VIII) and either walk back along the tow path to Kingston (a good 30-45 minutes, especially if you are tired by then!) or take the train again. In summer, boats also run along this stretch to Kingston and Richmond.

    My equipment:
Gimbal - DJI Osmo 2 Mobile, what a joy this has been to learn and balance;/
LG mobile phone - a bit on its last legs and overheating at all the hard work, but just about hanging in there.
I do the immersive first-person walks with these two items.
For vlogging to camera, I use my Canon G7X Mark ii. One day I hope to buy a proper camera gimbal so as to use the Canon for the actual filming, but this will take a bit of saving up for, and then a bit of learning!

Nice walking. I was Richmond in 1990 - 1991 by the riverside. There is a pub The white cross hotel I worked there.

Wow, that's a great location to be working, although I imagine it got rather busy in the pub, especially in the summer!

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela I have lots of memories there. But there are two things I always remember. 1- River tide 2- My managers: Quantin and Denise (perfect people) and the name of the pub was ''The White Cross Hotel'' not ''The White Cross'' I wish I could send you some photos from there in 1990

Hi Angela just finished watching your very first video you made and what a great video to start off your channel . Kingston on the Thames is very beautiful never been there but a beautiful never the less . I guess you didn't do Narration at the very beginning but I understand you properly just wanted to see how it worked out.
But just like your current videos great job and beautiful scenery with great filming I am so glad you kept going .
Thank you Angela : you will always have my support.

Hey Michael, thank you so much for your kind comments and for going to the trouble of watching my first ever video! Back then I was using an old mobile phone and struggling to operate it on the DJI gimbal. I started doing narration as I felt frustrated I couldn't share bits and pieces of information about the areas I was walking through and it seems to have worked. CZcams channels, as you have spotted, are always evolving as the chances of hitting on 'the' right approach from the get-go are pretty low. All the best, Angela

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela Hi Angela and Good morning to you in London as it's 10:56pm Monday night as I write this here in western Canada. You are Very welcome my dear you do a excellent Job on your Narration and explained things very well . Even on your first video the filming was excellent but I also understand what you are saying by struggling at first it's normal for that to happen at first. But that's how we learn and get better something that I am doing on something I will tell you about it sometime. Anyway like I said I will always watch your walks as it reminds of home even though I from up north 😂😂. Keep up the great work luv.....

Thank you for sharing it. I was on summer holidays in Teddington in 2016, 17 and 18 and I love this area (Kingston, Richmond, Teddington) so much. Beautiful memories.

Hey Ira363, thank you so much for being the first ever person to comment on my channel:) I just checked out your Bushy Park video on your channel and it is lovely. You are right, this is such a lovely area, and in the summer especially with all the trees, plants and wildlife in full bloom. I have literally just started this channel after two years of trying to find the time and hope to continue with these types of videos. I can see you are doing a really amazing job on your channel, so if you have any advice for a beginner, do pass it on!

Thank you very much, to be honest during the last months I don't find much time to make new videos. Now it's getting more and more complicated with CZcams. As you already know it's always a big problem with music. It's so lovely to see in your videos all the places I know and where I walked during my holidays. I love the Bentall Centre and visit it every time when I am in Kingston. I am looking forward to see more of your nice walks. @@ayiosonthames4291

I must admit, I didn't realise quite how time consuming it is to manage the equipment, do the filming, do the editing and so on, so it is hard to get on any kind of regular schedule. And as for music, yes, I think we have all learnt that the hard way at some point! On my most recent upload, I decided to risk leaving in the busker singing Wonderwall, so time will tell. Fingers crossed for both of us:)

      @ira3634 Před 5 lety

Yes I know, it's very time consuming especially all the video editing. But I am always happy to watch videos from Richmond, Kingston or Teddington. @@ChattyWalkswithAngela

The Thames between Fulham and Hampton Court is almost rural on both sides.

Oh no, I missed it! Which boat is yours? I had a look at my recent Kingston video in case I could find you on that one, but wasn't sure where to look. I'll look out for the boat next time I'm along there, whenever things get normal again....
