Hey man you are a saviour, I have a Razer Widow V4 X keyboard I bought only 4 months ago and to be fair only used in the last 3 and my 'e' key was intermittently unresponsive so only 3 out of 4 'e' key keystrokes actually registered. This is like a £114 keyboard and I was so frustrated. But your fix suggestion WORKED !!! plastic new 'perfume bottle' spray from Amazon, Isopropyl Alcohol, spray it with keyboard turned unplugged, gently waggle, flick and press the green micro switch 'e' key up and down, leave 12 hours to dry, come back and the 'e' key works 100%. Many thanks you are a star. Thumbs UP !

If some of your keyboard switches do have issues with responsiveness, then you could definitely do this. However, i would use a higher percentage alcohol, like 99% just so there would be no risk of corrosion, and alcohol isnt conductive. Theres not much risk of shorting, more of a risk of corrosion (no risk with 100% alcohol). Also make sure you shutdown your laptop and unplug it from power just to be safe. thank you i was sceptical but i pulled the switch out (I have a hot swap) and soaked a little alcohol into the socket and it worked!! my keyboard was impressively dirty like there was probably a whole ecosystem I just terrorized
It probably works, no guarantee. Make sure its at least like 40% alcohol. It will take way longer to dry though, so make sure to use a lot and press hard to avoid needing to repeat the steps. Wait overnight to be safe, in a warm place, not an oven or fireplace or it might melt, well ventilated.

This helped my keyboard, Just using it right now and it feels good, Most of my keys would randomly not respond and i'd have to hit it an extra 2-5 times until it would register, This solution seem to has fixed whatever fucked issue it had. Thank you alot, I'll try to keep you update with how it goes after a day or 2
I have a switch it works but i need more press than others what solution should i use alchol or it a default problem on switch I mean the actual point are not same compared to other switch on same kb
It could probably be fixed with these instructions, as there may be dust between the contacts so a harder press would make it work. It won't hurt to try cleaning it with alcohol.
Only the middle one since that's where the actual switch is. The ones on the sides are just to stabilize the button and don't actually have any electrical components in them.
So the problem here is not actually with the switch since you tested with other ones. There might be a problem with the contact points of the switch and the motherboard. You could try cleaning the motherboard on the contact area with a bit of alcohol and a cotton bud.
Try doing it one more time. The dust and dirt inside the switch probably resolidified. Be generous with the alcohol and press down on the switch really firmly while wiggling it side to side, this will remove anything stuck in it. You can also take the whole keyboard and give it a few firm taps on the side while the alcohol is still liquid, this will dislodge anything that's still stuck. Goodluck, if it still doesnt work, make sure to keep me updated!
WD-40 is a dirt displacement liquid so it is safe to use and is non corrosive. If you do it once, you shouldn't get the same problem again, the dust is likely due to the manufacturing process. Erm cologne should work but you do need to use a generous amount. Try getting actual alcohol, just ask your parents ,if you can, to get it from the pharmacy. Say its to clean electronics and stuff. No need to screw the keyboard open. Unless if it is hot swappable, you can replace your needed switches with unused keys like function or numpad switches.

why would you even wait this long? he used 70% rubbing alcohol which dries in seconds.
Since the alcohol enters inside the switch, it doesnt have enough airflow to make it dry at the same speed as it would just on an open surface.

my guy u have saved me for a few 100 bucks u are god send
Insane, glad to have helped!
does this work with a less alcohol like 20% or higher or 50% or higher or it needs to be 70% and higher?
Well it would work but there is a higher risk of corrosion. So you will need to let it dry for way longer amd maybe use a warm, NOT hot hair dryer to speed up the drying process.
@@YoussGm bro i wish you a good life it worked i found 100% alcohol i was sad my mechanical keyboard was broken but i followed your tut and it worked very well thanks bro fr
IMG THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHHHHHHH YOU SAVED ME(btw my left SHIFT key is broken...now its fixed THANK YOUUUUUUUU)
thanks a lot man! my Y wasnt working and i thought i have to get a new keeb. this is so helpful :>
i fucked up, i had this huge tournament coming up and i was panicking cus i didnt have time and there was no alcohol in my house so i used cologne 😭
Not only it didnt fix my "w" key but now my "s" key bearly works. Do i screw open my keyboard or something? this keyboard is expensive and i dont want to waste money on a new one
i am a retarded 16 year old teen dont blame me
Erm cologne should work but you do need to use a generous amount. Try getting actual alcohol, just ask your parents ,if you can, to get it from the pharmacy. Say its to clean electronics and stuff.
No need to screw the keyboard open. Unless if it is hot swappable, you can replace your needed switches with unused keys like function or numpad switches.
@@YoussGm I did use quiet alot of the cologne but i feel like it did way more harm than good, it feels sticky and shi. I have a razer huntsman mini, and it isnt hot swappable. Ill try with alcohol tomorrow, its 3 am :d
this fixed my space bar. as you can see. however it took me two goes
Very cool! Hope it keeps working!
holy #¤@% that problem was so annoying to have. Thank you very much.
i did it with water and feels like it's a new key lol
worked for me, thanks a lot
No problem!
seems like only thing i needed to do was to turn the keyboard sideways and smash it a few times on the table and drag my hand across keys up and down. Probably dust moved to the side of the keyboard and now my keystrokes works perfectly. Look... this i have written on first try without needing to go back to fill missing keystrokes :D My space was fucked and now its not. Thx tho for the idea.
Impeccable execution, glad it worked 👍
