  • This video shows the steps for a routine monthly and annual maintenance on a Brother SE400 that is past its warranty. There some additional tips on disassembly but for the video that focuses more on disassembly, check the prior in the series • Brother SE400 Embroide...
Note that after I made this video I found out that you shouldn't used compressed air so substitute that with a vaccuum hose.

Very helpful. I have this machine in a Costco version LB6800 I think they call it. It came with extra embroidery thread, but the same machine. I know I have lots of lint from sewing flannel. Now I have confidence to take it apart, clean and oil. Thanks for sharing!!!

You do not use compressed air on any sewing machines because it will drive the dust even deeper into the machines electronics.

My machine was soooo dirty. I can’t describe how dusty it was. It’s clean now. I’m having a little trouble with the screws and putting things back together. Imagine the estimate was $300 for cleaning a $400 machine. I love my machine and heavily rely on it. So I’m asking for all the prayers, well wishes and positive‘sewing Mo-jo’ that can be sent my way, please?

  • @jenniferdimplesandtangles

Thank you, this is just what I needed to learn how to oil my machine! Two questions- does the embroidery base ever need to be oiled? I know it has some serious moving parts! Also, in sewing mode, my machine is stuck only sewing in reverse. I googled and tried the "turn machine off, hold button in for 5 seconds" etc. tips and that worked at first but now nothing is working. It sews perfectly when embroidering, just won't stitch forward in sewing mode. I would really appreciate any help!

@@lucyhavrilla8949 the feed dogs need to come up past the plate (because that's how the fabric pushes back), so like you should see spikes come above the plate when you move them. If the fabric doesn't move, the thread stays in place and you get the bunched thread in the bobbin area.
