    • DIY Home Theater Build...
    I built this myself using a winch and ceiling tv mount. The mount is a Cheetah Mounts APLCMB Tilt, Swivel Black TV Ceiling Mount. It is raising a Sony 65 inch X900f 2018 model tv that weighs 70lbs.
    The mount is designed to be locked, but adjusts allowing the arm to swing freely. I will be adding a safety latch when in the upright position. The winch power switch will be modified to sit in a wall outlet that is installed in the wall next to the tv for easy access and a clean finish.
    I designed the unit to have enough room for a center channel speaker to sit on the pole of the mount above the tv that lowers with the tv.

    Hello Brian, how did you make it stop at the certain lower point and make it stop when it reached the top? Is there a limit switch?

    • @coinkeeper3389
      @coinkeeper3389  Před 3 lety +2

      I currently know the lower point and the upper point lines up with the framed box around the TV.
      I was going to put in a control board/switch to turn it off at certain points, but I haven't gotten around to it.

      @@coinkeeper3389 i would get a limit switch and connect it with a relay or get a switch that can hold the current so that when it’s setup as normally closed the circuit continues while holding the button. When it hits a certain part of the frame, the circuit opens and pressing the button on the wall wont dont anything since the circuit is open (reached the ceiling). Using the down button will work since that circuit is closed and operational. Once the limit is depressed, (going down) the button will become operational again. Your concern is the upper point not the lower point, but you can do a similar setup for lower point if you like.

      Your limit switch NC(normal closed) would be in series with the button for going upwards.

      Basically a splice in between the cable of the button

    Hey!! nice work!!... how do you make engine go up and down?? it's a engine dual function or what??

      I used an electric winch I picked up at the hardware store for $100. It has a lock on it so when power is lost the winch stays in place. I then cut open the switch and modified it to fit inside a little wall mounted box so it looks nice on the wall.

      Here is an update I just recorded. I was hoping to put a cover under the tv that slides away when it lowers, but the time to rig and build it wasnt worth it. I also closed off the winch and insulated it(not shown) to reduce noise. It can still be heard running through the house, but it is at a reduced volume. Enjoy.

      @@coinkeeper3389 Thanks for the updated video, and taking the time to reply and post this project. I will try to give a shot hope I'm as successful as you lol.....where did you get that control or did it come with it?

    • @coinkeeper3389
      @coinkeeper3389  Před 4 lety +1

      @@Big0281 good luck. I used the switch that came with the winch. It was pretty easy to remove it from the housing that it came in. I fed it through a hole in the wall and then I just hot glued it to the inside of the mount you see on the wall.
