  • One of America's newest National Monuments, Bears Ears has been the subject of intense debate since it was first proposed. No matter your position, no one can argue that Bears Ears encompasses one of the largest collections of Ancient Puebloan, or Anasazi archaeological sites in the nation. It also entirely surrounds Natural Bridges, one of the nation's first National Monuments. So as we go camping in southeastern Utah, boondocking right within Bears Ears, we bring you along hiking to explore both.

    ABOUT US
    Welcome to Grand Adventure, a CZcams channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
    We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on CZcams, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
    We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

    Another great video for sure. Your videos are documentary perfect. I think eventually you will be asked to do a TV show........... good luck. A new PBS show starts this fall called THE RVER's.

    Hi Marc...thank you for guiding me towards this video. This looks like an awesome spot!! Yes...you are correct; it'd be an easy loop to leave Ouray, thru the Paradox Valley to Monticello, then down to this Bears Ears Monument, and then loop over to check out Valley of the Gods. But....as you know, it is like Lays Potato Chips.....you can just stop at 2 locations in UT!! Safe travels!

      If not, keep it in your back pocket for next time. The sheer number of Anasazi ruins that you simply stumble onto is mind-numbing.

    Super sweet camping spot!
    Enjoyed your tour of the Natural Bridges monument and very informative.
    My wife and I love the scenic beauty of your videos and the information that comes along with them.
    I heard about the living organisms on the surface down in Sedona. It reminds me of instruction I received when I was up in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. They warned us about not stepping on the permafrost.
    Thanks for a great video!

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Před 5 lety

      Thank you so much! Don't recall seeing your name around here before, so welcome, too. Bears Ears would be a wonderful stop as it's not too distant from the North Rim. While you're in the neighborhood, consider boondocking in Valley of the Gods (czcams.com/video/-uY-FV9bMg8/video.html sorry for the production values, it's one of our first videos) and camping at Lone Rock Beach on Lake Powell (czcams.com/video/ZGlbYKsD7xc/video.html - same excuse). There's also Goosenecks State Park near Valley of the Gods & Mexican Hat, and Kanab (czcams.com/video/ZFPn5Wk25LA/video.html) is a funky little desert town where you can visit Best Friends while you're there. Have a great trip this year!

      Thank you G&Z! Are boondocking sites hard to come by in the UK? Here in the US it's slim pickings on the East Coast, as most of our public land is out west: nationalmap.gov/small_scale/printable/images/pdf/fedlands/fedlands3.pdf

      This one (and the next one) had a bad smudge behind the UV filter that we hadn't noticed while filming -- so sorry! We were deeply disappointed ourselves to see it when we offloaded the footage. The sensor, though, is immaculate.

    How long is your trailer front to back. Is it a good length for the locations you go to. Do you have limitations due to the size or not? Thanks again!

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Před 5 lety +1

      Sam, we're 25'11" tip to tail, from the hitch front to the rear bumper. The "box" is 23' long, and it's 15' wide with both slides bumped out as the slides oppose one another. We've found no issues at all with size, aside from small, older Forest Service campgrounds where we have to park side-by-side with the trailer as we're 51' overall when hitched.

    As usual, information is incomplete. a permit is where?

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Před 5 lety

      True, you need to obtain a $2 hiking permit available at a ranger station or major trailhead. We mentioned that in the video. There are no permits required for overnight camping.
