a hugely underrated piece of work
I just watched this movie, breaks my heart. Everybody did their part really well. A big shout out to Nadine for showing a glimpse of how refugees struggle. Just so sad.

I watched both Roma and this . . . Capernaum should have picked up the Oscar his Year . . . Sensational film
'Shoplifters' from Japan also great story-wise
Saw both Shoplifters and Roma. Capernaum was better. So much variety and ingenuity in the shots, so much grit in the story, and the leading actors were so solid. Nadine was phenomenal. A true masterpiece.
at Cannes Festival, Shoplifters won the Palme D'or while Capernaum won the Grand Jury Prize
at Venice Festival, Roma won the Golden Lion
interestingly, all three films are BETTER than "Bohemian Rhapsody" which won Best Picture at the oscars
all three films were nominated only as 'Best Foreign Language Film' as they were not eligible for Best Picture, which goes to say thay the Oscars are full of crap and that we should watch out for Film Festivals instead
of course with "Parasite" foreign films were eligible for Best Picture for the first time. the Oscars affect box office and so it's good they catch up. The Golden Globes are usually a better indicator of quality, even so

though the golden globes and the oscars are probably the biggest award ceremonies in film,
a better indicator of quality of a film for me is to see that "stamp" from Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Sundance, Telluride, Toronto, among others.
that "stamp"signifies that the film is part of the official selection of the festival, chosen by a nonpartisan committee of these festivals who actually watched all the films which were submitted. and i mean they really watch all of it, hundreds of films every year
the fact alone that the film is chosen is already a testament to its quality, more so if it actually won an award such as the Palme D'or, Golden Lion, Golden Bear, and etc.
I mean these awards are given to the "BEST FILM" from such a diverse selection.

I want to say because it's a much powerful film with a strong humane message...
but also because it's in my native language, and in my country. And to see a part of the city I've never seen (in this depth). It completely shattered my heart.

I found this movie by chance and watched it yesterday. It is an amazing masterpiece, truly touching.
A great movie. It's a marvel. Hope rich people could understand the human struggles and remember that they're humans too. Not all people were born fortunate. Some need a helping hand.

This movie blew me away. Heartbreaking moving just made me want to get on my knees and pray for all the sorrow in the world. My heart went out to him his sister and the woman who took him in. So moving an amazing film.
