In the ending taeho didn’t actually reunite with his daughter.
In the ending, Dorothy actually used her nanobot abilities to form a brief telepathic connection between him and his daughter. He was also shown an image of Su-ni “at this exact moment”, which depicted her floating somewhere in space. When they were connected, Tae-ho was given a chance to hug Su-ni and tell her goodbye. The scene ended with Tae-ho being told that she had “departed the orbit” sometime this year. What this meant was that Su-ni had died while being stranded out in space for too long. As for how he was able to communicate with a dead person, it was of course the nanobots that made this possible. They were able to “interpret the data” from Su-ni’s mind and essentially reactive her consciousness for a few seconds. Tae-ho didn’t get his daughter back like he had wanted, but Space Sweepers’ ending at least gave the character some degree of closure.

small correction. the bomb would not have destroyed everything within 5000km (thats way to big). The bomb would have destroyed part of the factory, disabled its orbit and plunged it into earth. The reason they had to get it 5000km away was because that was the range of the Krypton (yeah I got superman vibes too) radiation emitted by the bomb on detonation. Krypton radiation kills nanobots and since the nanobots keep Dorothy alive they couldnt let her be exposed to that.

@@daytradersanonymous9955 it's been a while since I watched the movie. From what I remember they never specifically say where they came from.
All we know is there are the basic nano bots that can be destroyed at extremely high heat.
Then there are the other nanobots that we see at the end (IIRC they are usually a red color) and those ones are indestructible.
I believe they also mention they are omnipotent, can think and create on their own and the little girl can communicate with them, due to the ones that were injected into her body.
