This would actually make a great series, An affable, if somewhat untutored and inexperienced new king, now forcibly wed to a ruthless and Machiavellian queen. Now he must somehow learn how not only to govern effectively but try to do so while attempting to maintain some of his good nature. Then he must develop a stratagem and the ambition to somehow seize power. all while being very closely watched.
That's actually really simple. Have you seen the mortality rates of childbirth in olden times? Just honor the "duty of a husband" and keep her pretty much constantly pregnant. She gets her companionship and legacy and all the power she wants. You get a bunch of heirs and spares and eventually a throne and nation that has been substantially increased through the work of her Machiavellian scheming. Not to mention you will have learned much about running a kingdom in the time it would take. And who knows, maybe she actually falls in love with you and loosens the reigns to the point you do actually share the throne... at which point you still win. The only scenario you lose is if she goes black widow on you, which was probably her plan from the start anyway. Invade, Capture, Marry into the lineage to give the conquest legitimacy, kill you and rule as a dowager queen and make the kids puppet figureheads.
@@Wasparcher1 In the medieval past. approximately one in four women died in childbirth or soon after. But this is a likely taking place in a fantasy kingdom. Likely possessed of magic such as healing potions, cure disease spells, and the like. Furthermore all she needs is a heir, and possibly either a spare or a princess to marry off. She likely also has access to herbal or alchemical contraceptive concoctions, as well as numbwine {suspension of opium and hemlock in wine, sort of a historical precursor to laudanum} to aid her in her agony of childbirth,. So your first scenario just might not be possible. Secondarily. she needs him alive to function as a "face man" for her, due to her reputation as a tyrant. That's why she kidnapped him and forced this marriage on him in the first place, as opposed to the normal route of state visits and negotiations. Killing him would only help further cement that image, particularly since she is feared and that he is well liked by the populace. If, or perhaps more accurately, when, she tires of him, or if she thinks that he's more trouble than he's worth. She would have to tarnish his public image before she could kill him. To kill him while he's still highly regarded might well incite a rebellion, uniting the whole common populace of his kingdom, as well as at least some of the nobles therein, against her. Thus destablising her rule over it.

Me: (starts resiting the bee movie script in a monocrom tone)

The listener: "Marriage? Sure sounds good."
Me: "Well if we get married then our kingdoms merge which means that my kingdom will also be dragged into her wars. Which means all that sick tax money I'm getting goes straight down the hole to pay for soldiers. Realistically if I agree to this then I can buy some time and set up an assassination plot after she's preened my court of disloyal vassals for me. Then I simply declare our progeny to not be mine, enlist the assistance of the other kingdoms she planned to war with and wipe her now leaderless forces off the face of the earth. Then again I am an unmarried king which makes me a loser......
10/10 never been this invested in the political machinations of an asmr kingdom before.

Save you are the good but inept King. She is the smart evil bitch that literally saved your ass from the tracherous nobility that will end killing you. And she did this conquering you.. in every aspects.
Trust me, it's better for you to be chained in her bedchamber as her trophy groom, than think to be able to rule such a nest of vipers with your ineptitude.
@@pincopallino5674 The problem here is you're defining the sole value in this scenario as being alive. Whereas to me, being dead is a vastly better alternative to living as a trophy for someone I'd genuinely despise.
Also someone with political acumin that the listener clearly didn't have you'd be able to spin the situation into innumerable beneficial outcomes. But again, the stand in king is lacking in that department, ergo the current situation.

Lady, do you know how hard it was to bribe the nobles to assassinate my parents AND keep my name out of their mouths. Unify the peasantry under me while simultaneously making those who would betray me come out to the light. I was PLANNING the damned civil war, a dozen disorganized nobles more concerned with their own lands and power is nothing against the weight of an entire unified nation of peasants and a few loyal vassals. Years of work, thousands of crowns paid in bribes, thousands of freshly trained soldiers. And you put it all to waste with your little stunt AND did my job for me in one well timed strike... Well, quite a nice video. From the looks of thing, she very competend as an ruler, and a general. And if anything, one thing is preaty clear, she doesn t toy with her problems, she handles them.... for good. (and this is probadly why she gets a "crueal queen" nickname).
Even If I were the listiner, I wouldn t trust her, considoring her plans... and ambitions, I wouldn t be suprized if she get rid of him the moment he lost his usefullness to her , since unfortunetly, this is the word of rullers and politics.
