    As a Korean who served in the Navy, I can say that Navy food is quite well-known among Korean men. When some men ask why one would choose the Navy despite the hardships, some respond, "At least the food is good." Of course, it depends on having a good cook.

    Roscoe is correct about why they blur the instrument panels. I was a combat cameraman (AF) and we use to blur (block) instrument panels when we got the videotape of the cockpit before we could so any editing and such. They had various security levels - sometimes it was simply keeping a contractor from seeing another contractor's specs and at times it's because the instrument panels were such a new technology that Russia was very interested in finding the information (It was during the Cold War). There were times a person with a higher clearance than I held had to do the blocking on a copy that we then got to keep for editing for report/ presentation and sometimes for Public Release.

    I really want to recommend ‘The Iron Squad (강철부대)’ to watch next. It’s basically a show with different Korean special forces competing against each other. The last season that was released, season 3, has a team of 3 US Navy Seal guys and one from Green Beret, and I would love to hear you making comments about that as well! I believe they have episodes on CZcams but I’m not sure if they have English subtitles, but I bet they do on Netflix.

  • @robert-antoinedenault5901

    I'm always surprised on people's reactions when they are presented/showed naval kitchens and the resulting foods provided from them. Many assume that military style kitchens result with mass production of gloop. But the reality is that civilian naval ships such as cruise ships are all based on these military ships.
    Fyi as an ex-cooker from the CCGS Amundsen (canada research & icebreaker vessel) which left our port of call for 6-9months per season. Freshly prepared foods was the norm and the use of "large" ustensiles (as in the use of shovels) is favorable as if there was a storm it would simply knock you out (concussion) whereas smaller utensils turn into potential piercing "weapons". Every tool is chained up as the last thing you need in the kitchen during rough weather is a "free-range", airborne knife, spoon, tongs, even pots and pans.
    The larger (with more mouths to feed) vessels will utilize more "fixed" equipment, flat top, steam (jacket) kettle as to provide a safe environment to work into. But smaller vessels such as those i worked on have clampdowns on the stovetop to hold pots and pans in place. Keep in mind that all covers (on any of these) lock as to prevent content from spilling out (and causing burns) between wave periods and strong swells.😅

  • @OverDriveMan645
    @OverDriveMan645 Před 19 dny +2

    The shovel you see them using in the kitchen are specially designed to be used in the kitchen and are a common sight in Korean military kitchens. It's designed to be used alongside the massive pots that you see them being used in.

    My uncle was in the navy, now retired after 28 years of service, and is 6’4”. He took me on his ship after a deployment once. Watching my VERY TALL uncle crouch through doorways was flabbergasting. And then seeing the bunk-room?!?! He had a middle bunk and looked like a sardine. He later told me, off ship, that he hit his head plenty as well as his feet and shins. 😂 Needless to say he was grateful one he got to a promotional level where he was no longer required to go on deployments.
