- Join The Big Forkers on a mouth-watering investigative journey through Delhi as we hunt down the ultimate butter chicken! It's a battle of the most legendary restaurants of arguably one of the most famous dishes in the world. We taste them all and crown what we believe is the best Butter Chicken in Delhi and probably the World.
We also decided to take on the case between Daryaganj and Moti Mahal which revolves around a legal battle over the rightful ownership and use of the term "Butter Chicken." Moti Mahal, an iconic restaurant established in Delhi in 1947, claims to have invented the famous dish. Daryaganj, a newer establishment, asserts that their founders were the original creators and have the right to the legacy. The dispute has escalated into a court case, with both parties presenting historical evidence and testimonials to validate their claims. The outcome will determine not only who gets the official recognition but also who can market their culinary heritage as the true originator of Butter Chicken.
The Big Forkers took the decision into their own hands and made their opinion known in this video. They have also asked some of their friends to lean into this decision:

Only Chef Saransh got it right. It's the invitation in Ashok Vihar, especially their boneless version, where they pull apart tandoori chicken so that every part is covered in that rich gravy. It pairs very well with the butter naan, which is garnished with dry coconut. Only true foodies of Delhi know the other two places, as they are not in tourist areas.
We have to try it. Though the dry coconut has me worried

I’m 50 and have been having chicken all over Delhi . Both these at Panadra road have changed their butter chicken numerous times over a period . However both of them are not famous for butter chicken . Olsen says when they were small dhabas their desi chicken curry was the only thing they sold .
The original butter chicken of Delhi remain Moti mahal / Jama Masjid road , old Delhi .
However - one of the best chicken curries is - Rajender da dhaba next to the old Kamal cinema complex in Safdarjung enclave . Try it ! You will thank me .

My favourite butter chicke was from a small shack called Sanjaa in Bund Garden, Pune ... tonnes of absolutely great memories. It has to be a tandoori chicken which is deboned and then blended into the gravy for me and I prefer it with plain tandoori rotis :) Fabulous episode guys you brought back a tonne of memories

When Sid started tasting Moti Mahal at 13:47 he said BC in a neutral accent. However, at 14:04 the way he says BC sounded more like Pancho closer to the city's food you're reviewing, precisely, the Punjabi way of saying it.

The best butter chicken I’ve had in my life is from Pelican Pub here in Mysore, Karnataka. I’m Mysorean and I’m sorry that’s about as far as my horizons go because I haven’t travelled at all. Every Saturday from 1999-2002, my dad would pick me up from school and we’d drive to Pelican Pub to get our routine takeout order of butter chicken and chilly chicken. Good times.🤌🏻✨✨

On my last Visit to Delhi In April This year we went to Darya ganj in Gurgaon i think sector 87 same plaza where Karim is,The butter chicken was not good at all.I was not Happy with their chicken Tikka also.

The one you have to try - the only one comparable to Havemor is Pal Dhaba in Chandigarh.

As a long time Havmore hater and Gulati’s fan i can say that Havmore has the better butter chicken but because of nostalgia i go to Gulatis everytime

General consensus of some south Delhi guys -Best really is havemore ....Also goila bc is average,try bhookemon,sandos ... They are different but really good.

The Moti Mahal you’ve tried is the one which happens to be at the same place where Gujral & Jaggi started but it isn’t owned or operated by anyone from the either family.
The Gujral owned Moti Mahal is known as Moti Mahal Delux!

I am from U.P and lived in delhi most of my life, i had butter chikn in a restro in dubai, i swear to God, the cheef put curry patta in butter chkn, when i complaint about it to the manager, he said this is how we make it😂😂😂😂

Moti Mahal Restaurant the original that is located in old Dariya Ganj has lost the quality completely. Havemore is preferred by the new generations. Once I had gone to Pandara to try Gulati & they used to have a lunch buffet, the butter chicken gravy tasted burnt. After tht I have never been to Gulati restaurant.
Havemore has been around nearly as long as Moti Mahal as has Gulatis
