- Watch as a Southwest aircraft is painted into a special livery design. Imua One is dedicated to Southwest Employees and the people and communities in Hawaii who have welcomed us with warm aloha. Imua is a rallying cry in the Hawaiian language that translates to an urging forward, and it underscores a key value at Southwest-Teamwork.
The eight central visual elements of the Imua One livery hold significance in Hawaii and at Southwest:
Ohana (Family): Root in relationships.
Honu (Turtle): Move with perseverance.
Aina (Land): Find common ground.
Ama (Support): Connect to strengthen and balance.
Hoku (Star): Guide with purpose.
Kai (Ocean): Harness good energy.
Lokahi (Unity): Succeed with Teamwork.
Imua (Forward): Go forward with strength, courage, and strong spirit.
On April 28, 2023, Southwest marked the fourth anniversary of its first interisland flights within Hawaii.

This is a remarkable looking airplane. The livery of "Imua One" stands out. It's a testament to Southwest Airlines' presence in Hawaii, and it's been going really good for them for some five years so far, and that's important news for them right now. Good for you Southwest!! It's quite an impressive airplane to say the least. This is the first Boeing 737-MAX-8 logo jet I've ever seen. I just hope the Alaska Airlines "Salmon Thirty Salmon" scheme doesn't die, and can be put on one of their brand new Boeing 737-MAX-8 airplanes they ordered, and hopefully bring a new "celebration jet" to the Alaska Airlines history.🙂✈️🙂✈️
I absolutely love how SWA does their livery paint jobs! The Tennessee one is probably my favorite though.
Freedom one is my favorite
@@MrDoublej33ame here. The video for the Freedom One was also extremely motivating and inspirational! Almost brought tears to my eyes!
@@MrDoublej33Me three here love the freedom one and now 2 nd favorite is this one
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERD WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE IMUA WENT TO ST. LOUIS?
My favorites are Freedom One, Tennessee One, Imua One, Desert Gold, Canyon Blue
My favorite livery yet and I got to see her land at Houston this afternoon such a beauty and she is so much better in person! So excited for the next special livery!
That's the nicest livery I've ever seen!
Beautiful! I hope we get a chance to fly with her from the Bay Rea to the islands!
the way you make a plane is very cool!
I really like your airline it's pretty safe and I just subbed (hope you have a good day/night 👍🏻)
woah that is so freaking cool! i am denifinly going to fly on that livery from la to hawaii! nice livery! also love all of their swa's paint jobs!
Every livery you guys make looks amazing
I love it! Makes me want to visit Hawai'i!
Love the canyon blue!
Noticed that too 😅
One of the best liveries I've seen from South.
Wow. That’s beautiful.
It’s not a state flag, but that’s honestly OK. There doesn’t need to be any more new state flag planes since Freedom One represents all 50 states.
I love how this aircraft is supposed to be a tribute to the communities who work in Hawaii that welcomed you with open arms (or wings), and I like that it’s on a Max 8 instead of a -700 or -800 plane.
As always, you did a beautiful job with yet another special livery, and I hope more Max 8’s get special liveries soon.
liked the video! thank u southwest!
and a 737 max too! love the max planes!
Finally someone who doesn’t backlash them
I flew on this one and got photos with the pilots! It was awesome!
Cool 👍
I just bought a 1:400 model of Imus One. I believe my collection is 150 model airlines...old and new. They used to sell for
Dang!! Gorgeous
Beautiful I love it
Love That Special Livery😍❤️🌺✈️🇺🇸!
I live in lower Whitestone NY and out of all the planes I see coming into LGA, I gotta admit, one of my favs on the entire line is southwest b737s, I even have a model one made by Daron
Beautiful.
BEAUTIFUL! 💙♥️💛
I’m can’t wait to ride with your guys again
Can't wait for it's arrival at oakland!!!
Same here at Kahului!
Beautiful livery!
Good effort love logo jets southwest are up there with the best ones
this is really nice
Nice I love it
another big W for SWA
Waiting for it to be at Dallas Lovefield Airport!
Imua in Hawaiian means forward or ahead
Hope to see the MAX 7 soon
Hopefully it comes to BNA (Nashville)
Can’t wait to have a canceled flight with that plane
Awesome new livery. You still can't beat Arizona one though, it's my favorite special livery. What tail number is that?
N8710M
@@AviationManiak thanks
is this new southwest livery gonna be at Tampa international
I always wondered how did they do that?
Luv 💕 the exterior! Now how about 2 inches in width per row. 🎶Not, just a little bit 🎶
I seen ima one at the Tucson airport
Maryland one is my favorite.
That is a lot of paint. But it looks great!. Very eye catching.
The logos on the flight board in Norfolk are 1998 logos
I’m the second person to watch this video!
Noooice
Looks like a express of Hawaii
This is nice but just wondering if they got permission from the native Hawaiians to use the term and concept of Imua and also traditional art designs?
Great, now do that will all your interisland aircraft! At least badge them in some way. 🤙
How often do southwest airlines new liveries get painted
Planes are repainted about every 7 years. New specialties are not on a standard schedule. Their last specialty was 2 years ago in 2021.
@@TheLazyTaco oh ok its cool how southwest do their special liveries painted airplanes and new liveries come out
Ive seen it not too long ago
Shoulda kept this in the drafts or did more research on how to correctly spell those elements.
Exactly. Many of these names are missing their ‘okina & kahakō, where it should be “ ‘Āina, ” instead of “ Aina “ and “ ‘ohana “ instead of “ ohana “ and “ lōkahi “ instead of “ lokahi “ and “hōkū “ instead of “ hoku “ etc. With the resources they have, it is a disappointment seeing the lack of research going into the spelling of the words. Leaving out ‘okina and kahakō can completely change the meaning of a word. I hope they can fix this and I really hope the designer was a Native Hawaiian/Kanaka Maoli.
@@lulubellzy very true
@@lulubellzy exactly, should’ve educated themselves before utilizing our language to boost their ratings amongst the Hawaiian community. Giving cultural appropriation
@@catiamarielewis3275yikes, they just wanted to represent everyone-
@@jaylenjackson2403 all i’m saying is they shoulda did their homework before throwing those words out there. Because like the person above said, without those markings, the whole word changes 🥲
I didn't know Southwest had planes capable of flying to Hawaii.
yes Im with First General ABRAHAM Brian L.Thank You very Much😇😎🙏
Is it pronounced with a long I or short i
3Rd Boeing 737 MAX8 special livery
Are you all going to keep using Boeing with the safety issues? I’m concerned about my upcoming flight after the Dutch roll incident….
Love it! Now maybe swa won't have cxls!!😊
Can’t wait to see it at Bradley soon 💙💛❤️
Ditto here at Kahului!
Bring back Shamu One!
Was this designed by a Native Hawaiian/Kanaka Maoli?
Looking like ABSOLUTELY NOT. Giving ABC Store vibes
Yes, it was designed by a Hawaiian design team and firm.
@@jviation737 Hawaiian as in ethnically Hawaiian people? Or do you mean just from Hawai‘i? Just trying to clarify because often times people from the states think that if you’re from Hawai‘i, you’re Hawaiian, when we actually reserve the term “Hawaiian” for those with Hawaiian blood (since it’s an ethnicity, unlike terms such as “Texan”).
@@lulubellzy Yes, it was made from Kanaka Maoli/indigenous Hawaiian artists from the Oahu-based Osaki Creative group.
@@jviation737 How do you know that the designer who worked on this is Kanaka or not? Just curious because I wasn’t able to find anything on who exactly designed it.
i can already imagine how it'd look in infinite flight lmfao-
Infinite flight unfortunately doesn’t have the max yet though :(
@@JayJayAviation sadly :( btw i liked ur videos. They are amazing bestie
@@iwasmidnightrain. thank you! That’s very kind of you
Can you imagine if Imua One which is literally based on Hawaii wasn't an ETOPS bird? Loll
Yo we need a raise not a new plane
Iam redey sir espry panting job
Honestly you guys didn’t ask local Hawaiians about this plane
Is the Imua one the 737-900
Southwest doesn’t have 737-900s. This is a 737 MAX 8
Umm OK, it's pretty, but your customers see mostly the INSIDE of your planes. For the money spent on this elaborate paint job, how much could you have improved things like legroom, crew member pay, or (especially) scheduling systems? Seems like any airline that's just had a recent catastrophic meltdown would want to be be more frugal with its expenses.
While the IMUA paint price was higher then a fleet paint job, it is a required maintenance item. Just as any other maintenance item. The paint is a corrosion prevention and is required every 7 years or so. So why not get some marketing with a good livery?
SWA has some of the best legroom in coach of any airline in the U.S.... So BS there.. Also, crew pay is not terrible and all dictated by contracts.. The their IT and scheduling systems yes do need an overhaul i'll give you that but it isnt like they spent all of their money painting this aircraft..
@comicpilot as someone who literally worked on this aircraft and knows the $$ cost to paint. Like I said, IMUA was more costly than the standard fleet cost it was not that bad. The biggest factor was the clear mica that is over the entire fuse and engines.
The airline sucks, the livery is awesome ❤
Pay your employees
Instead of blowing money on fancy paintjobs, concentrate on customer delight like on-time departures, increasing instead of decreasing direct flights, and increasing customer service personnel when flights get cancelled. I'm sitting here with a six hour flight delay to midway when all seven of my co-workers flying to seven other cities all departed on time on other airlines. And this is not the first time. SWA and Midway were my go to choices for domestic business travel but the last three flights have been extremely disappointing. I'm done. I'll suffer the slings and arrows of O'Hare - if I did that today I'd be home by now.
Spend the money to update your computer systems instead
I don't care how you paint it, it's still a big flying metal tube. I hate flying but will do it only when driving is out of the question.
😢We feel you. Just breathe easy and focus on a downloadable movie. That might help. Take care.😊
@@havefaith4358 - If the airplane has in-flight movies I definitely watch one to help keep my mind off of the fact that I'm in a skinny metal tube 35,000 feet in the air. Lol.
@@MLMLW I get it if everyone expresses their choice, SWA would be here all day! But I like that too.
Bro really upset over a plane 💀
@@skyhawk401 - Yep. I really hate to fly.
Pay your pilots
SOUTHWEST = spend your money on making the INSIDE much better with more leg room, more comfortable seats, more arm room and not too people trying to share the same arm rest. Invest your money on the inside...especially by upgrading your outdated technology!! Making the OUTSIDE look better is completely irrelevant... such a waste of money as usual, ugh.
This is the first 737 in their fleet to have charging at every seat, and the MAX itself is a more comfortable airplane. It takes a long time to modernize a fleet of 791 planes and with most of those being the 737-700 they are going to have to wait for Boeing to get the MAX 7 certified before any changes are made to that fleet.
@@coflyer2949 SOUTHWEST needs to be spending their money upgrading their outdated technology causing nationwide flight cancellations instead of painting their planes... just ridiculous. The color of the plane is irrelevant compared to on time flight schedules.
Be careful with Phoenix, AZ... They're trying to play this game within the music business. I won already. My last name is West. They're not really going by the facts, no more. So, make sure you really pray about it before making a move. They're putting evil spirit in the air. I swear to God to you. This game to them... is not a game... it really is a legitimate business which everybody cannot do.
I hate this paint job
