  • #tallulahgorge #hikingtallulahgorge #georgiawaterfalls On this fantastic October day, we took the Neal crew to Tallulah Falls State Park to hike the Tallulah Gorge. Wow! What an incredible hike. The scenery, water falls, rock formations and early fall colors made this one of those days we will always remember.
What you will experience is one of the largest canyons on the US east coast. Over 1,000 feet deep, you can expect to see 2 water falls, scenes along the mountain river, a trek across an 80 feet long suspension bridge and beautiful trees and flora along the trails. On the day we hiked, we saw an eagle land on one of the gorge rocky ledges.
This hike is not for the weak of heart or those who are not able to take on strenuous activities. Aside from the 2 plus miles of hiking through the gorge, there are around 1,200 steps, 600 down and 600 back up, that must be navigated to see the falls. If you're able, it is worth every step. So take your time and enjoy all the sites and sounds that nature has to offer.

I like that they have stairs now, back in 86 when I went to sliding rock there was no steps.

This is a great area. So many places to hike. The Gorge is really pretty. Panther Falls is a few miles down the road. Helton Falls, Desota Falls. Brasstown Bald. So much more. We can't wait to return in the Fall. Have fun!

You bet! Worth the effort, but the steps back up are something.
