KL was getting overcrowded, so the then government planned for a new Federal Government Administrative Centre to replace KL as the administrative capital, hence Putrajaya was built and became a city of its own.
There you'll find all of Msia's governmental ministries/offices as well as the official Prime Ministers' residence.

Putrajaya is a well planned city with several precincts. This City was built around tin mining land. The beautiful lake is a remnant of the tin mining era. When I first stepped upon the City while in it's construction phase, I was simply awed by the immense beauty of the buildings with the matching landscaping works.
I had a similar experience when I first visited Ulu Basir Estate, in Lower Perak, belonging to the United Plantations Ltd. group. It was just commissioning the new palm oil mill. It had a modern Mill Complex with an airstrip nearby for it's aircrafts, as well as brand new modern beautiful workers quarters and staff bungalows. Simply an awesome view of a mini city in the middle of nowhere.

  • @RayRafaaz
    @RayRafaaz Před 3 lety +2

Putrajaya is the administrative capital of Malaysia, established circa 1998, to replace KL due to its congestion etc. Located less than an hour from KL, but half that time if u drive fast on the MEX highway hahaha... It is also only around one hour more or less from the KL International Airport, so the location is very strategic.
It is a well-planned city, formerly a palm plantation. Those whole lot of buildings are located on this man-made island, and from above you can see it is surrounded by water, the those bridges.
Basically about 80% of the buildings are government buildings, they house different ministries. Amongst them based on your remarks:
    a. the long stretch complex in the early part of the vid: MInistry of Finance and the Treasury (tall building next to it with dipped design-kinda)
    b. Pink Mosque: The Putra Mosque
    c. The green-domed complex atop a hill next the the pink mosque: The Prime Minister's Department complex. The PM Office has various mini-ministries, so that's why they need big buildings, which is not only that one coz another complex of buildings next to that roundabout is the extension of the PMO
    d. The long stretch of road is an avenue, that started from that pink mosque/PMO building, all the way to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on top of another hill, the one u said was Tony Stark's house hahhaha
    e. The nice building with white dome and about 4 mini domes - that the Palace of Justice, that houses courts and justice-related affairs
Outside of the island are various precincts where government housing quarters are built, so people who work in Putrajaya mainly live there. It's a walkin/cycling friendly city as you can see from the walkway paths all over the place, my personal favourite when I biked a lot. You can cover the whole 'island' of Putrajaya in around 1hour if you cycle at a leisure pace.
That's some info I can share for now I guess :)

Putrajaya is equivalent to the Washington DC to the US - It serves as the administrative capital to the country. Most of the buildings shown in the video are located in Precinct 2,3 and 4 where most of it are actual fact government buildings serving each and every different ministries of Malaysia. It is located along each side flanking the central spine (boulevard) from North to South. The red-colored mosque is indeed one of the mosques u guys had reviewed before which is the Putra Mosque and also another which is constructed mostly in steel - Masjid Besi. The big building on the hill with the green dome next to the red mosque is actually the Prime Minister’s office which is equivalent to the White House of the US. Located all the way at the end of the boulevard which you guys thought was a concert hall is actually the PICC building - Putrajaya International Convention Centre Building. Hope all these infos helped!

If you look closely, Putrajaya was designed with Haussmann's Paris blueprint.
And another fun fact Putrajaya was initially planned to be built in a place called "Kind-hearted Divorcee", but UMNO leaders back then changed the location to palm oil plantations/village called "The Great War".
I wonder why they didn't retain the original name of Putrajaya as it's totally badass to have administrative city with the name of "The Great War".
And if you can turn back time and visit Putrajaya during 1999 and 2000, you could still witness farmers and herders herding cows and buffaloes on the streets of Putrajaya. There's sad stories for villagers of "The Great War" back then with the development of Putrajaya. But every modernization comes with a price to pay I guess.
