The crystals were also what accelerated the evolution of sea life, reflecting humanity in the creatures the squids and octos that consumed the crystals in the ruins of Alterna

The reason Cuttlefish is forced into a squid form and all dried up is because when Agent 3 is listening into the Radio Transmissions between Mr. Grizz, and Cuttlefish is because Mr. Grizz states that Cuttlefish’s Brain is exactly what he needed.. Before cutting out. Which is most likely Cuttlefish is laying there lifeless.
A thing you didn’t mention was that Mr. Grizz actually did survive the explosion. If you watch the credits and look closely, you can see him floating around, still alive. I feel like this has to be a hint at his return in some form, since if they wanted to get rid of him, it would’ve made more sense to just not show him again, but this was done intentionally. People are already speculating that Lil’ Judd took over Grizzco, so maybe Mr. Grizz may have a supportive role if he comes back.

I kinda hope Octavio's progress gets elaborated on in the dlc as after the first confrontation he disappears for the entire game but the end. Would be nice to see more of him as he try to make his new mech seen in the final fight instead of it being entirely random.
Especially cause the octolings never get cured of fuzzy ink- there's no way he's just gonna give up on his troops
I think it's a very likely possibility, considering that the DLC seems to involve Pearl and Marina and Marina was one of his scientists.

My favorite Easter egg is that Big Man’s Fight is actually a reference to Super Mario Sunshine. In Sunshine you fight a Shadowy Manta Ray that splits in half and leaves ink trails right behind just like Big Man. The name for the boss is even “The Manta Storm” and Big man’s boss intro calls him “The Hype Manta Storm”.
That's the first thing I thought of when fighting him I'm glad I'm not alone
When you finish the story mode, the Mr. Grizz radio can be found next to the Squidbeak Splatoon, and the radio is replaced with Hugefry holding Mr.Grizz in his mouth. You can see it in the Salmon Run lobby. Love this little detail.
also lil judd has a little mic on during the end of matches after beating story mode. this is presumably supposed to show that lil judd is running grizzco now… for some reason

You forgot one thing, Li'l Judd. Li'l Judd gains a headset after beating the game for unknown reasons. People believe it has to do with Grizz Co but it still remains a mystery.
Not having the Judd's in the story mode Titled "Return Of The Mammalians" just makes me believe Li'l Judd will reveal his backstabbing plan in the DLC.

It is canon that Li'l Judd has a grudge against Judd as Li'l Judd feels inferior for being his clone. I think this will be expanded on in the DLC.

One thing I learned
The more broken the spelling is, the more likely it is that they are native speakers
there is also a sunken scroll seemingly written by lil about Judds weaknesses. and last time there was a seemingly random sunken scroll about a character, it was foreshadowing for pearls final attack in OE
Theories as to how Cap'n cuttlefish got revived:
Cap'n cuttlefish isn't an inkling, and as such, can survive water.
Inkling tears aren't actually water.
Dehydrated inklings can be rehydrated with water, and brought back.
Also, the saddest part of the ending was Mr grizz saying "you will not receive severance pay."
Inkling or not, he IS a living creature. They ALL need water.
Cap'n Cuttlefish isn't a Cuttlefish despite his name, he's an inkling just like Callie and Marie
Inklings and octolings still need water to survive
Inklings arent allergic to water its just that too much water can make them pop, I like to think of them as liquid filled membranes that swell up due to osmosis, with water wanting to enter the body rather than exit, this also in turn dilutes the ink they are comprised of and cause them to burst when surrounded by water. This is why i think rain is a relative non issue for them unless they get stuck in a typhoon or flood, though that begs the question why they have an entire water park resort.

So with Little Buddy/Smallfry after rewatching the transformation scenes a lot because I loved it so much, it hit me. I think the reason he transforms is the same reason that Mr. Grizz is a GIANT bear. (since he was presumably a normal sized bear before). Little Buddy has been spending the entire story eating those fuzz balls. Those fuzzballs were made by mr grizz combining those crystal things with his fur. So Little buddy basically has a lot of those crystal things inside him. Similar to how they reacted to the wishes of the humans and then reacted to the wishes of Mr. Grizz I think now after all the fuzz balls he ate, they're reacting to Little Buddies desire to save the earth/fight Mr. Grizz/be a big boy (whatever motivated him)
Edit: my above explanation does not take away from the fact the calamari Inkantation was 100% involved. I didn't mention it cuz I assumed it was a given. I just think the song + the fuzzballs is what lead to the perfect combination of events that led to the creation of hugefry. I think the crystals resonated with the song and hopes of little buddy and all marine life.
The Calamari Inkantation as well, cause we know this song has special properties.
That's a perfect explanation, although I personally believe singing the calamari incantation was part of the process.
@@alexwixom4599 oh 100% the calamari inkantation was a very important part of the process as it has been in all 3 games. The transformation would have never happened without it. I just didn't mention it because when I typed it I had already considered it a given since the transformation happens right as the song starts. I edited my comment to include that the song was also involved
There is _no way_ the DLC is gonna top this epic finale, let alone the Octo Expansion.
Edit: I mean the final boss, not the end of the franchise.

@@mooncake8059 Technically speaking, the splatoon 3 direct labelled this story mode as the end of the saga. Most likely talking about the story modes specifically as a part of the New squidbeak splatoon, maybe the dlc will take a different approach.
Whatever they do, I just hope they don't end up rehashing Octo Expansion again. The rocket section is just a bad bootleg of the Kamabo Corp escape, and the actual style of levels (which btw were painfully short an unfulfilling) was just Octo Expansion 2 Electric Boogaloo. We need something properly NEW.

i like to imagine Mr Grizz survived the explosion fully, and tumbled back to earth, with his revelation of things needing to move forward, he could still use Grizzco and the golden eggs to make profit and make new discoveries for the sake of the new world

Sadly, its hinted towards that salmon run most likely went into lil judd's hands, because he gets an ear piece out of nowhere when you complete the story mode.
Yeah, who knows, maybe the Salmon eggs could be used to benefit Splatsville too. That, and I like to believe that he's still operating Grizz-co from space. (I know that's not the case but it's a funny thought)

Did anyone else notice that when you’re walking around the platforms in between the final levels you can hear a slow creepy version of the salmon run winning theme?
Yep, the "Happy Little Workers" motif seems to be in quite a few of the songs towards the end of the story mode
I think the "three lights" are mentioned on one of the sunken scrolls, so maybe it's an ancient event happening again?

I actually would have liked to see an alternate scenario where Mr. Grizz actually succeeded in his plan. Definitely would have been a very different ending.
If you fail the last phase of the boss fight a cutscene plays where this happens. Just look up "Splatoon 3 bad ending."

I think that maybe it isn't all sad: the lore stuff says how it was a human essence imposed on the squids and octopuses (I think), so basically it is human essence in squids, so they live on in some way. Idk, just looking for some hope. Bro, the Alterna people would have survived longer if they just stayed in the cave or exited through normal means, like -_-

The human scientists probably wanted to fly into the skies too, like their ancestors did. But yeah, launching a rocket in a cave definitely wasn’t the smartest idea.
Yeah imo it's melancholy but not just sad. Humans in their current form died, but their hopes and dreams and essence was passed on and continues to thrive

The Crystals are a big part of the lore you need to finish all the levels to get all the logs unscrambled
it is noted that the liquid comes from squids in one of the Alterna Logs and is what causes the ceiling of alterna to look like a sky despite being fake

Pretty sure inklings don’t just die when they touch water, they need water to survive, as seen with Cuttlefish before the final boss. They probably die when submerged in too much water. The new captain (old Agent 3) “reviving” Cuttlefish implies that he wasn’t actually dead, but dehydrated as Callie states. Yes, this is stupid and yes, you can reply with ”🤓”
nah, i think you prolly right. they might just not be hydrodynamic, and drown when submerged since they can't swim, but can still interact with water in ways we humans do

Ok so here’s my theory. Mr grizz is still alive and I’m pretty sure we all know that at this point and it’s hinted that lil Judd took over salmon run. But the big runs still happen which I feel like people are forgetting about. I think Mr grizz is still helping to do salmon run but in a good way to help the salmon not invade inkopolis and kill them all and I don’t think he’s evil as he has accepted the world will not become all mammals at the end of the boss fight. And for those wondering, the power eggs are probably now used to power inkopolis
11:13 this is actually one of the sunken scrolls! The three moving stages that the idol sing on that combine at the end of the show are part of a festival celebrating the joining together of three types of marine life in order to create one force that saved the entirety of splatsville and the crater! I loved how they tied that in and how the salmonids were the thrid type of marine life!

I think they just went with Agent 3 again because Splatoon 3 keeps referring to the number 3 like the Octo Expansion did with the number 8. Also Ursine Anomaly 3 for the same reason :P
They went back to number 3 because the old agent 3 is the new captain

they did the same think with Octo Expansion. Octopi have 8 tentacles, Agent 8, 8 ball levels, 888.8% in the ending cutscene, Mr. Nogami's 8-pose in the credits - it's basically just the same thing with 3

It said in a Splatoon 2 sunken sea scroll that, the Salminoids come up to attack the inklings/octolings since "ancient times". So we might still fight the salminoids.
So log 6 tells us the squids and octopi that would become inklings and octolings became our spiritual successors? Pretty neat. That and more mentions of cryopods which is..... *interesting....*
since Cuttlefish had no ink in him, he was just squid, so water wont kill him anymore now

I think the return of the mammalians lore is so interesting. At first I didn’t like the thought that the squid’s evolution was sped up because of the hopes and dreams of the dead humans. But it’s kind of poetic and symbolic of real evolution. When the age of reptiles was over, mamals filled in the leftover niche. Squidkids just filled in the leftover niche of a civilization. Return of the mamalians strait up says the mammalians may be gone but their essence is still here. Just like the dolphins filled in for the ichthyosaurs and the birds filled in the terasaurs.
But there is one ‘mamalian’ left kinda. 1 the great zapfish clearly contacted some fuzzy ooze and survived. And ORCA while not an organic being is a whale- an aquatic mamal. It makes me wonder if return of the mammalians isn’t complete yet, if ORCA will find a way to regenerate whales to live with the inkling and octolings.
I personally believe Lil Judd will be a villain in the DLC. He is hinted to have taken over Grizzco. after the events of RotM by the fact he has a headset after you beat the story mode. He also has a full Salmon Run-themed deck of cards in Tableturf battles. Also, if I’m not wrong, one of the sunken scrolls says that lil Judd harbors a hatred or resentment for either Judd, Inklings/Octarians or at least his position in life.
If you looked at the credits you would have seen Mr. Grizz floating around in space probably shifting the salmon run shifts

Mr grizz is alive in some form due to him being able to breathe in space and also being seen floating in scape with his eyes open as one commenter stated
The crystalized liquid was the same liquid as the one talked about in Alterna log 3 and 5. In 3 it talks about how they made it and what its used for and 5 it talks about how this liquid effectively accelerated the Squid, Octopuses, and many different sea creatures' evolution by influencing their impulses to the point where they effectively forced many *many* generations of lives that would normally take much longer than 3k+ years (since only 5k years had passed since Alterna's Collapse and there would still need to be some time in order to cause such changes and to also traverse the world by land with a body not perfectly suited for walking yet so I'll say they left after 3k years of evolution) in order to satiate this impulse to walk on earth's surface.
At this point I think Grizzco will become a energy supplier, we know that the golden eggs hold power witch is why grizz was collecting them first until he though of stealing the zap fish so I think grizzco will still be around probably under a different name. We still know that the octolings are still struggling with power, then theirs that eerie comment that deep cut said about the zap fish looking different could mean that the zap fish itself is losing it power? but that's just a theory.

In splatoon 2 the ark Polaris is seen. There are warnings for bears in English on the map, which we now know is mr grizz. The secret log explains it too.
In the end credits you can see mr grizz is circling the world but he’s usually covered by the ink
Here’s one thing some people I think are getting a bit wrong. It’s the fact that Mr. Grizz is still alive and that there are still going to be more SR content especially since there is gonna be the invasions.

Something of note: Mr grizz said that he wouldn't underestimate the squidbeak spaltoon leader AGAIN, meaning that not only does he know who cuttlefish is, but also has probably foughten him in close combat (or as close as bear and a military leader can get) but cuttlefish is now not only no longer the captain, but he is also a smelly old man, meaning the Mr.grizz fuzzball discovery was founded while cuttlefish was at his prime AND that the crystals had somehow granted him immortality including a substance that can turn living creatures into mammals

The story was absolutely incredible. I can’t believe we were right about Grizz being the main antagonist
the crystals mentioned in the final log are the crystals the humans of Alterna used to replicate the the sky, they’re also the crystals that caused the inklings, octolings, and other marine life to grow a conscious desire to live on the surface (and I assume the fact that the crystals were designed to change colors at the human’s desire is what gave the Ink/Octolings the ability to change their ink color

What still puzzles me is what happened to Marina after the last splatfest. In Splatoon 2, Callie was turned evil after the last splatfest of the first game. Maybe a dlc will explore the history of the salmonoids & we'll get to see everything that happened to the fan favorite idol of Off the Hook
One of the sunken scrolls mentions Off the Hook started doing vocals for some other band. There would need to be some explanation of how that's going for them.

Okay, you say you're explaining the end but neglect to read the Sunken Scrolls to learn about the Three Lights that united to consume disaster? It's all up in there. Just look through the sunken scrolls and it gives a bit of insight to things here

The crystallised liquid you mention is just liquid crystals, like the kind in LCD screens.
Cap'n Cuttlefish is a Cuttlefish, so he wouldn't dissolve or get hurt by water like squids or ocotz
ummm... isn't a Cuttlefish a type of cephalopod, just like Squids and Octopi? Because I feel like that could hint at them ALSO having ink and, by proxy, a weakness to water...

I never noticed captain 3 collapse and flop on the ground while playing which makes this so much funnier to me
So...villain is a relic of the humans and their age, having survived for over ten thousand years before emerging and repurposing human technology for his own needs. Then, he starts up a company to trick people into helping his plans, before using his creation to try and cover the world in mind-control goop, only to be defeated by the heroes with the help of some side characters and a big laser. And he's later hinted to maybe still be alive.

It says in the logs humans went completely extinct. After Alterna's collapse and crash landing of the Ark Polaris, I think it is safe to assume Humans are gone.
I know that I just thought that different groups of humans did something similar but just got lucky but I can understand your point

@@Miguel-iv5ft Oh I know about the war, but those Orca logs managed to record the launch of the Ark Polaris--which launched roughly before Alterna was established (as far as we know anyway). If there had been other survivors, wouldn't the log have also recorded them as well?
@@sealover7134 The ark was launched after the hour 00:00 (The nuclear bomb) so it probably that the sides of the war not share their info about their own "Alterna". Anyway, we would need more info about the last human war, and how advance was the humans in this universe.

Ok so I don't know all the details (nobody really does tbh) but there is canon proof Inklings actually have showers meaning SOME water doesn't actually kill them. It's sort of confusing but I assume it's a certain amount of water that could kill them.

Mr grizz is actually alive is you look at the earth in one of the scenes you can see Mr grizz floating around up there and why he still communicates with us and a side note once you complete the game he actually is replaced with a fish biting a bear

After you beat the story the bear statue canges into a seal statue in the salmon run lobby. So salmon run might be under new management.

People who played Splatoon 2 only: hopefully mr grizz is not a bear. People who only played this one: guys I think he is a bear. People who played both: Now I feel like a idiot
From bits that I understand from the lore of the second game and this one its that the salmonids are an annual thing in their world, as in I think they are a problem every 7 years I think it said in world and Grizz decided to make capital off them since he needed their power eggs and they are sort of a problem anyways.(turns out the real villain was capitalism this whole time) but I guess that's more theorizing on my part with the clues we are given with the sunken scrolls.
Also I heard that this is the last splatoon game with the story line of the squidbreak characters so I'm so hyped on what they'll do next. Maybe that last sunken scroll was setting up either the dlc or the next game?
I'm thankful this wasn't spoiled to me.

my theory is that lil judd is actually the new mr grizz, in tableturf he has a deck themed to salmonids and its stated that he hates judd and plans to kill him since hes jealous of him, so maybe the dlc will expand upon this
