Considering the English release of the first game had such masterpieces as '10th enemy has the bomb', if it were to be translated back to Japanese and then back to English I wouldn't be surprised if one of the old men actually said something that random.

“I wash it in the stomach” could easily be turned into a shrine quest for the Hebra Mountain shrine that you have to climb on the walls sideways to get to because it’s covered by a hill and has freezing water surrounding the shrine
