J Hood is conflating some of the events of this story. He was well past 20 when his mother’s apartment burned down. Anyways, most people don’t understand the music business. J Hood had never put anything out or had any good features on other artists’ albums, so he was never going to have any money.

I was just talking to my homeboy about that a couple days ago. That's partly why the economy in this country is so f*cked up. Everybody's trying to have "their own" when in other countries, the entire family stays together, and shares and saves a lot more than Americans do. We get "shamed" for living with our elderly mothers and fathers, while we REALLY should be shamed for putting them in homes and facilities with strangers who just want MONEY, and don't care about them at all. Smfh.
In every country other than america, most people live with their parents till they are married. And sometimes, they still live there. Its not about being a failure, its about family and being together. Its sad that americans lost that idea.
This is very true but who wants to live with their parents that long? I can understand if you fall on hardships and need to go back for a period of time but it's hard to grow into your own living at home with blood relatives.
