Just to clarify, this is one of the last times they were together while being filmed. The last known photo of Ringo, Paul and George together was around 2000. They would have one last private meeting when George was dying from cancer.
Was this photo public somehow or was it kept private?
@@enjoeymusic It's definitely public. It was also taken by Pattie Boyd.
wasnt George dying from stab wounds?
@@sroycze9284 no
@@videoestres yes.He did.
He had recovered from lung cancer, and the stabbing tore open the stiches, and the cancer came back soon after.
What's wild is seeing how totally different the Beatles could sound - this is old school southern blues they are doing here, probably the same stuff they were playing at 15, and managed to sound completely authentic. That's just pure love of music.
They got together outside playing simple Ukeleles … and those few seconds and notes became that distintcfull AWESOME Beatles MAGIC!… Glad my 16 year old daughter learnt to appreciate their music!
The song they were playing inside was Raunchy.
Imagine the nostalgia they all must've felt, man
True! It's like they came full circle!
Raunchy was George’s audition song
Just seeing the three of them together at that point in their lives gives me chills. And the what ifs. If John hadn’t been murdered, would they have done anything together somewhere down the line. But we have their music for eternity. And the memories any particular song brings back for all of us. I know whenever I hear a Beatle song, some memory pops into my brain.
Gaurenteed they would of all got together
John Lennon died about 20 years before I was born, so for me he was always just a part of history like any other famous figure. It is strange to think that he could easily still be here today if things had just gone a little differently.
I had read that Lennon (around the time of his death) thought the Beatles had been apart long enough for each of them to have their solo careers and wanted to get back together to produce an album.
Woulda done Live Aid in 85
I cry when I see stuff like this - they were the absolute greatest
Yes the Beatles were the Beatles a awesome group alot of great songs
Poor pete
There's nothing comparable anymore, these moments are priceless.
❤ agreed They’re always going to be the best! 😢😊
so very true one of a kind ever
Wow, that's 28 years ago and would put Ringo at 54 , Paul at 52 and George about 50. Now George is gone and Paul and Ringo are 80 and 82. For me 1994 seems like yesterday. Time is short and it does make you think of your own mortality. I turn 66 next month!
Time does have a habit of sneaking up on us all. But you're right. It does seem like yesterday.
In the scheme of things we'll all be gone very soon. Make the most of every day.
Like someone once said: "Life is what to you while you're busy making other plans."
George was 51. He was only 8 months younger than Paul. Paul born June 1942 and George born February 1943.
That was a chap called John that said that 👍@@alonenjersey
In the 28 years since this was filmed, George has died, Paul has really aged, and Ringo.......still looks the same.
William is older than Ringo.
The Anthology still remains to me as the most complete and definitive Beatles documentary.
It is indeed
It's not complete AT ALL.
@@thomaspuhringer8332 How so?
As much as I still love the Anthology perfect I agree. I still wonder why Cynthia, Maureen, Patti, Jane, Yoko, Linda & a few others weren't interviewed.

I was in the same 'room' as The Beatles. I saw them, live on my 9th b-day. 22Aug1965 PortlandOR USA
My first thought was, 'That's really them' They played for 35 minutes, but it seemed much longer.
It was smack dab in the middle of Beatlemania. Girls were screaming and crying at the same time. I was 9
It was the best place to be on the Planet.
Nice to see three old friends just hanging out.
I saw Paul in concert in Portland about 6 years ago. Between songs it got pretty quiet so I yelled as loud as I could ( ( I LOVE YOU ) ) .. Paul replied back on mic, I love you too! It was amazing.
That is a great story and a memory you will have forever. In a concert I held up a really small sign (half A4 sheet of paper) with a message. He saw it, we had eyecontact, he mouthed a question, I nodded, and he smiled back. I have never had such a feeling before or after. It was very special.
@@IamMagPie awesome!
@@IamMagPie sorry I think you were just imagining things.
@@VNP707 Why do you say so? I have friends who attended the concert. We were so close to the stage that there was no doubt. They saw it as well.
@@IamMagPie well pardon my doubtful nature. we’ll just have to take your word for it won’t we?
2023 … but SOOOO NICE to see them together … still giving goosebumps ❤
George always had the exact same personality he never aged
Ringo's timing on those thigh slaps are impeccable!
I feel like you can still detect some frostiness between Paul and George, who I think really genuinely loved each other but still got on each other’s nerves.
Yes, both love and frostiness were seen here.
George didn't like that Paul had to lead The Beatles after Brian Epstein died. Ringo said that without Paul, their output would've been half of what Paul made it be. George wrote 5 great songs, and wanted to be treated as the equal of John and Paul, who wrote over 100.
@@gordeauxd this is what I always say when people talk about George wanting equal output. He never had the catalogue of songs that Paul had. I mean, he got freedom on the white album and we got piggies and savoy truffle lol you can't just give another member of the band equal billing if they don't have the songs to back it up. George's ego was the biggest issue in the end I believe.
So could I . Not the perfect little”reunion”is it?🙄
@@TheKevza To be fair, I LOVE George's contributions to the White Album (not Piggies so much) - and his work on Abbey Road and eventually All Things Must Pass suggests he had a spell there where he was working at the same level as J+P, and of course in the early days in Hamburg they would share stage time and lead vocals almost totally equally, which took a back seat. I can imagine both Lennon and McCartney would be a nightmare to be in a band with, even though I think they were fundamentally good guys.
George really was a master on the ukelele.
Haha love the way George just starts jamming as Paul is talking, incredible! But George was always something very different
It can´t be The Beatles without all 4 of them. But this is as close as it gets.
Don't say that to the Who..
I can only see two Beatles here.😊

Seeing the then three surviving Beatles together......well it's simply magical.
Probably one of the coolest conversations between 3 people In the history of Rock n Roll
Fantastic to see the remaining three Beatles together (RIP George) and they were all still looking so young and healthy, as late as 1994, I could have sworn this was 1995 because that's when The Beatles Anthology was first aired Nov 1995..
What I find to be really strange is that this was around 27ish years ago from today 2022 and it was to commemorate 25 years since The Beatles split in 1970, however at the time 1970 to 1995 felt like many decades separated these eras but it was only a mere 25 years, where dramatic changes in fashion had occured and musically, yet 1995 to 2022 only seems like a 10 year petuod at the most where nothing hardly changed in fashion or music wise..
Makes you realise and appreciate how great we had it, being spoilt rotten with the fabs and other fabtastic music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and I suppose the 90s the very last decade of classic music.
I love how much Paul has fun with his brothers when they’re in their element.
This is beautiful. Beatles live on in our hearts forever.
Ypu can just see they are having a great time jamming and just being together like old times.
George Harrison only did this for the money.
Beatles Anthology can never be beaten in Documentary categories for best of all times
Lets just say it is the last time they talked about the old days. Like it a lot... So happy this came out.
After just watching Get Back and then watching them play here.....it has a different perspective now because Get Back showed us them in a whole new light.
And I still see three teens meeting to play songs in a garage, dreaming of making a career in music that might luckily last three or four years... I love you, Beatles. Thank you. The Love you take is equal to the Love you've made🥰
Always a pleasure to look at this clip off the anthology. The easy going friendship and humour and reminiscences lies deep within them. Such a shame that John couldn’t have been there.
Theres no doubt in my mind they wouldve all settled their differences if John lived.
George was a great F1 fan as you can see from the large picture of the late great Ayrton Senna in the McLaren behind Ringo.
He also supported Damon Hill financially in his early racing days...What an amazing talent George was..and a great human being...a lovely man.
Cool info, thank you.
The car featured is actually XP5 which was the 5th prototype vehicle. McLaren still own it to this day. My guess is that McLaren lent it to George for this video as his was registered in January 1995 so presumably was still being made at the time of filming.
Plus only just under 2 months after Ayrton senna died
Saw Paul McCartney in Nov 1989 at The Forum in Inglewood. Fantastic - his first world tour under his own name. His piano was on a platform that lifted him to almost balcony level. That's where he played "Hey Jude". And we were seated on the side balcony closest to the piano. omfg
Ever since they stopped touring, there's always this weird, very, very slightly dysfunctional chemistry when you'd see them (3 or 4 of them) together. I describe it like this: Ringo just adores and cherishes being with "the boys." His love is unconditional. George is okay with Ringo, but George has this thing with Paul. I wouldn't call it hate. But I would say there's a low-level resentment of Paul. Probably born out of jealousy or envy. For Paul's part, he's going to command the room any time they're all together. He's the most outgoing and he likes being the center of attention. Besides, SOMEBODY'S gotta do it. He's aware of the fact that George isn't his biggest fan, but he tries to be civil and keep the optics good. All three of them are amazing talents. And yes, to have had John there, with them, in the flesh, would've been the absolute best.
Both Paul and George have said that they got on each others' nerves.
And if John were alive, he’d have been the center of attention. He was the natural leader whether he wanted it or not.
Nailed it exactly. George had major issues with Paul but the fact is , Paul was like that from the beginning, along with John. It was George who's ego changed around the latter years, thinking he deserved more input.
@@mrsbluesky8415 You always knew that the most memorable thing that would come from any media coverage of the Beatles would be something John said, whether it set off record burnings all over the United States or howls of laughter all over the world.
@@TheKevza John was a bit more accommodating of George. He gave him songs to sing before George wrote any himself. Paul never did that. By the time George really came into his own, John was saying things like George's songs were the best thing on Abbey Road while Paul was telling him how to play his guitar. John was angry and genuinely hurt when George barely gave him a mention in I, Me, Mine. Paul couldn't have cared less.
What is special about The Beatles is that they are all individually so goddamn lovable creatures with great chemistry.
Sometimes they sound like me and my friends jamming at a BBQ, other times they sound like the greatest band on Earth.
In the end, these 4 souls are a powerhouse that changed music. What is so beautiful is that they were always so Liverpool. They never lost their root... OK And who is my Fav.... I always love Ringo.
Never lost their roots? Despite them immediately moving to London never returning and Ringo laughing when Jonathan Ross asked him if he'd ever move back to Liverpool!
I was reading something about the Beatles and it was from an observer rather than a Beatle. But they were talking about the carmarderie was still there, and as soon as they started into their very first song, they were just on it, you could see exactly why they are and remain the best. I don't know who you are, but I absolutely agree. Their genius and personalities shine through with stifling each other and the songs.
Rest in Peace John and George, see you soon guys.
Legends just can't get enough of them!!
Yes I agree 💯 awesome legion, awesome group
I think of them every day. And listen to them almost every day.
Imagine just picking up an instrument and mucking about with your best mates on a Sunday afternoon, yet sounding like the Beatles every time 😅🤣
I was 35 when this was filmed. I had been a Beatles fan since the beginning when I was a child. My whole generation loved the Beatles. Seeing this was very cool, bit it tugged on my heart that it wasn't really a reunion as it could have been... John wasn't there.
They were the absolute best band of all. All of them matured into good people and the message of their music was simple; all you need is love. They said it from the beginning all the way to The End... not a bad legacy for four poor kids from Liverpool....
By the looks of George's car he was living in the Material World! Ha! Ha!
Great to see this again, tremendous legacy, chemistry and experience. Just think about what they knew about each other. Heart warming and as usual, all so polite and respectful. No massive egos around that table despite their eminence.
I had sat on the living room floor and was in awe at the reunion and new hit song free as a bird. I choked up while watching the video. They were the guys I grew up listening to.
They are all clothed Miami Vice style.

I remember when they were putting together this Anthology album. Everyone was hoping they'd do a reunion tour with Julian filling in for his Dad. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, at least we have this video! Thanks for posting.
When The Beatles started recording "Free As A Bird" in Feb.1994...the UK papers said that "The 3 Beatles will be playing a MASSIVE concert in Central Park in NYC during the summer. The Beatles will be paid $35,000,000 US each...and might be joined on stage by Sean and Julian Lennon!" Of course it never happened. In early 1996...they were offered $250,000,000 for a tour of the US...UK...and Japan...and Sid Bernstein offered them $500,000,000 for 20 minutes at Shea Stadium on August 23, 1996...all offers were refused.
@@beatlejim64 that’s fuckn crazy there’s no way they were offered that much to play and performed but then again I understand because the Beatles wouldn’t be complete without John and they kept an Oath that if one wasn’t in the band or passed away then they will go out as the Beatles.
@@AsWellYouShould To me, the best look a like for John was Gordon Waller from the duo Peter and Gordon.
@@AsWellYouShould oh shut up, Julian is great - and it would have made perfect sense to have him in that position.
@ The New Era Of Music
Wrong. They were indeed made that offer. It was in an old people magazine.
You’re forgetting. 500M, between the 3 of them and Yoko breaks down to about 125 each. Then, they got to do promo and videos and all the rest. There was no reason to do it without John.
I’m so glad it never happened.
These videos show what they did as a band was special. But here they sound crazy generic and boring.
The records are what remain fresh.
And if they’re not enough, Paul literally has covered every Beatle song in his tours.
They ate special because they quit when they did. And it was it:
The last performance of the 3 surviving Beatles unforgettable
funny how much all the memories of hamburg and klaus and astrid etc are still in their heads after all these years 😂
I love the way George still shreads on that ukelele
JUst to clarify they did not play any BEATLE song.. all of those songs in the footage are old but not theirs.
They played Thinking of Linking at one stage and George played Dehra Dun from the India trip.
George began playing I Will on the ukulele while they’re talking 🤦🏿♂️
Well...this is just fab & now so fab to remember them like this, lovely easy going, talking friends 🙏😊

Damn I miss John. George too, but John is unique.
Even at the end, it is amazing how much Elvis meant to them..
Having seen the 3 of them solo but not collectively makes this FAB confab even more meaningful....
Nobody will ever replace them in the number 1 spot. The reason being, if not for The Beatles, rock music would died in the early 60s.
How they changed so many lives!!! Thank you for all the great memories in my life.
The Beatles will live forever in our hearts and minds ! They changed my life as a 7 year old in 1964 being on the Ed Sullivan show on 2/9/64 on TV. I am a big Beatles fan even at my age of 67 in 2023 I will be Intill the day I die I was in a rock band in the 1980s I became a bass player because of Paul he made playing bass cool.
This was fun to see. I saw them all in concert the 3 times that they came to San Francisco. So I was at their last concert ever at Candlestick Park. Little did we know….. But they were right, you could barely even hear them, and I was up close in the stands. There were no seats on the field to the best of my memory, but there may have been.
Man oh man, this gave me goose bumps. It's so hard to find the words to describe it. My mind flew wondering what if they had that reunion, what venue that'll be large enough for I'm sure millions would've like to see them. But, there are things in this world that really aren't meant to be. Thank you so so much for sharing this video.
They did have a reunion, which produced new songs for the Anthology CD set. These were new recordings by the Beatles. They did not tour after 1966 I think. But they did not end in 1966.
@@777jones No they did NOT have a reunion..John wasn’t there.

I still believe if they had all lived they would've played together again eventually. Not sure if they would've made an album, but they may have played together at least.
For a quick buck sure why not. I'm sure John would have liked Sean to see them play together to see that his dad was a hero.
I remember watching this when it came out and wishing I'd been there, just jamming. So much fun to just get together with your band, or mates, and make joyful noises.
Ths is great, all the old resentments through with and just 3 old friends hanging out and having fun. The chemistry is there and the harmonies but knowing they did bot have the mantle of performing to the public as The Beatles made them feel comfortable in my eyes.
Que maravilla!!!!
Verlos juntos.
It’s so nice to see them together jamming and having tea, but there’s also a sadness because John couldn’t be there. 😓
George, Paul and Ringo were always my favorite Beatles. They seemed very down to earth, you can tell they are friends as nd the three of them were do talented. RIP George, and all the very best to Paul and Ringo.
"Sir Paul" (William) is in love with himself.
Uh, John was a part of it too. I realize you obviously hate him but he was one of them. Deal with it.
Awe…this warmed my heart seeing them together ♥️
This is 30 years after coming to America and I’m watching this 28 years after this meeting! Wow!
Although firsts and lasts of important groups are noteworthy I am thinking about the many, many meetings these gentlemen had when they were in the midst of creating music together. I am thinking of the meetings when things clicked. When John brought in a part of a song and the others added their bits and their opinions and the song became what we would recognize. Imagine the give and takes, the suppression of ego, the friendly banter, the unfriendly banter, the joy, the brilliance and the foolishness that on myriad times would lead to the creation of some of music’s masterpieces. I like to think of four lads giggling together while a maelstrom of fan fed insanity whirled around them. How many meetings where bonds of brotherhood were forged and sadly where some were broken. I want to celebrate those meetings too.
This is so Beautiful I'm loving every minute of it
It's such a bittersweet treat to watch this
If only John was still alive he would have definitely been there. He was there in spirit
4:33 George always told this story of how the Beatle cut started, but it's different than what others say. Originally when first asked in 1964 he said "I came out of the pool and my hair was forward and the others liked it so it stuck". Here he retells it with a slight variation, but the consensus is what Paul says, that it was Astrid, Jurgen, and Klaus that initiated it. Notice how George starts uking over him, since that contradicts what he just said
after eternity of years later… there was NOW AND THEN
I will always love them.
I Love you guys, real people! Here's a Paul McCartney story no 1 has heard! I was in Tucson Az years ago , Paul was living with his wife Linda in Sabino Canyon! My girlfriend's son and 3 of his friends were heading to 7 falls in Sabino Canyon
There car broke down in front of Paul's house! From the road they could not see Paul's house but he could see them ,I say it was the end of July very very Hot! Paul walks down to them with a pitcher of lemon aid! While their taking the glasses of lemon aid they are giving him the once over, they asked Paul are you somebody famous! Paul says no but I once was a fab 4! The kids back to my girlfriend's and they asked me Keith what's a fab 4 ?,I say a Beatle they say what's a Beatle ? I start singing she loves yea yea yea! They say we just met 1! I get excited and say you guys met Paul ? Yes but how did you know his name was Paul? I started laughing and the only on this side of the pond Paul McCartney 🤣 😂 😆 lol Paul must love to say to kids no but I was once a Fab 4
The Beatles are a Class act
A great set of film clips. All three elements (studio, garden, coffee table) are available to see in longer versions on CZcams. When I originally saw the full studio film on its own I had wrongly assumed it was at Paul's studio in Sussex and didn't initially realise that they were all filmed at Friar Park. George's reference to meeting somebody backstage in the 1970s was Elvis Presley. In the longer version the explanation is more evident, they had all been huge fans of him back in their youth. Whether it is just the three of them or not, it was always good to see this set of films as footage and/or photos containing more than two of the group was incredibly rare indeed after the split. In particular, footage of Paul and George together is incredibly rare with the only other footage I have seen of them both was the two of them signing The Beatles dissolution papers in the NY Plaza Hotel in about 1974. John was meant to be there too but he didn't turn up - now if he had then what a rare bit of film that would have been!
Thanks Bob for influencing and enhancing the Fabs' lyrical and songwriting talents with your own music and by way of smoking a joint, and the Beatles for influencing Bob to get a backing band and go electric, culminating in some of the best rock music of their careers and of all-time. A historic and productive meeting indeed!

We're so lucky to have been a part of a civilization that witnessed their journey first hand. Hundreds of years from now, the only musically relevant artists that will be remembered from our culture will be the Beatles.
Just had this hit watching the three "lads" reminiscing around a table... one was missing. I wonder how the Lennon tree would have continued to grow. I tried to "imagine" him there, with Paul, George and Ringo. There would be different sparks for sure. In Beatle world, John was in charge of sparks. I sure miss his sparks as a fan.

0:32 "Should we go make a Record?" This really captives I think Paul's enthusiasm with this reunion. It's really sad they never did a full on Album it would have been really awesome!! If i had to guess why it didn't happen, it had to do with there was a lack of comfortability playing together without John being there. I remember them mentioning how hard it was emotionally for them to do Free As a Bird, Real Love and rightfuly so RIP John. I Think also they still had some creative tension, for instance the third song "Now And Then" George didn't like the sound of how it was coming along in the Sessions so it never appeared on the Anthologies and got rejected.
Despite not much content that got recorded unfortunately in the end they probably felt they didn't need to, after all The Beatles will be remembered until the end of the world!! 💯💯🔥🔥.
