Storms are the last thing anyone expects on a cruise vacation. What's even worse is being stranded in the middle of a violent storm with no control over a massive cruise ship. This nightmare scenario became a reality for the passengers aboard the Viking Sky cruise ship.

Because the cruise company paid for it.
with 1 heli
Yep and they’re all the countries that don’t get any help back
But if it's a refugee boat nobody does anything
Now for those who don't understand. When the ship's engines failed in the storm this caused her stabilizers to be offline. I'm not sure if this would have affected her ballast but that could have also been a factor.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but since they were in a heavy storm, and since cruise ships are not designed proportionally to the same standards of most ocean liners, those proportions make them a little more top heavy, and thus more prone to rolling. Ships are good at finding their equilibriums but sometimes the shifting weight can alter their buoyancy too much and then they're in danger of tipping over. That's probably why that crew member said go to midship, to shift the weight.
Long story short, big storm, ship not built for it, ship tilt over.

Amazing rescue crews & ships crew. What always gets me is the panic anxiety reaction that gets out of control in some people. This only makes rescue harder.
For those wondering, the remaining passengers and crew were towed back to port by 2 tow vessels
Yeah it says and shows that in the video
I’m guessing you’re a person who has an incredibly small attention span because it tells you at the end of this very short video that you clearly didn’t finish watching
He said the engines resumed functioning. Why would they need tow vessels?
Follow up to those with questions, when I originally commented this, the video simply cut after saying only half the passengers made it off, this can be proven by all the comments around the time of this original post and before mentioning concerns for the other half of passengers. I did some research through various news articles and the actual company account of the incent to better understand what took place afterwards. That's where I was told time and time again by separate entities with separate sources that the boat was towed to port. Within the time of my original post and now, the video was added to and now includes the portion stating that the vessel was allegedly driven back to port, I do not care for absolute technicalities nor do I believe I need to correct the video if it does make an error, I simply wanted others to be informed as I did myself.

Salute to all the countries who put the bs aside and sent help.
This incident took place in March 2019 during a two-week cruise ‘In Search of the Northern Lights’ voyage, starting and ending in Tilbury. The Viking Sky was only two years old, carrying 915 passengers and 458 crew, making her a relatively small cruise ship. The basic price for the cruise was around £4,000, or about £300 per person per day, making it a relatively expensive voyage.
The ship suffered an engine failure off the coast of Norway. Unable to make progress or steer, it was hit by extreme waves, with passengers’ belongings thrown around their cabins. An emergency was declared. Passengers put on life jackets and went to the muster stations. It was at one of these locations that a huge wave smashed windows, with a large inflow of water that swept a number of passengers off their feet and caused injuries, including broken limbs. A helicopter evacuation began, with the injured, wet and cold passengers winched off the ship individually and taken in batches of 15 to 20 to the nearby city of Molde. By morning, 479 passengers had been airlifted from the ship. The vessel finally docked under its own power in the port of Molde at 4.30pm, local time.
Thank You For The Details ❤
