Overall, combine the lack of situational awareness of most top tier USSR aircraft + AIM-9Ms which are really damn busted at sim, and you get a really frustrating environment to play in. As of right now, you get the SU-27, which has a ton of offensive capability but is blind as a bat (and the flight performance is weird. Becomes a completely different aircraft below 700Km/h) And then you get the MiG-29 SMT, which provides plenty of situational awareness, but your offensive capability is not enough to prevent the merge, and when the merge does happen you're a barely-flying brick. Understandable why red teams are always empty. Also i finally understood why flat maps are absolutely terrible for top tier SIM. Everyone skims the deck, which negates all radar missiles. Every blue team plane will be able to see the entire map basically, and your SPO-15 is just begging for mercy the entire match. So it overall becomes an AIM-9M fiesta.
The biggest problem for me is the red radars. identifying a friend or foe takes too much time and you are losing initiative. Hope it'll be changed with data link implementation
F-16 is really the jet of all time. You simply cannot go wrong with it. Also 0:49 screw people who get triggered about fighter slang, who gives a crap. If it helps viewers understand what is going on, use it. 6:02 I've done this more time than I could count xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Agreed, I also think it's good for new players to hear/learn those terms - gives some substance to what you're doing and perfectly explains different approaches to BVR/BFM fights. It's a shame that it's gotten such a bad rep

My comfort Sim plane is the MiG-21S R-13-300. Like last night, spent 4-odd games running 3+ K/Ds against F4Es and other much higher BR aircraft using the S’ R3Rs and engine power. Love it, just gotta bang songs like Phantom the whole time.
I've started playing mig 23 in sim and its rough when you got used to f16/f15 with good rwr but as you were saying, there is always a lot of people to shoot down on blue teams (especially a lot of bombing phantoms) :D
Have you tried the 104S in sim? Personally, that's the plane I hop into whenever they have the 10.3-9.3 lobbies up. That and the Israeli F-4E or FGR in 10.7.
I have yeah, it is VERY good in that bracket but because of the playstyle you need to adopt in the 104's I really need to be in the mood for them.. Usually if im playing 10.3 i just stick to the F8's, israelie Mirage or something like the MiG 19PT Sometimes ill even hip into a sabre to to spice things up
MLU is still my most played jet in sim. The Block 50 is my fav f16 BUT i get TK'd ALOT playing US. MLU's got the best of both worlds. Yea it aint a block 10 but still more than capable. Also, you're gonna love the M4k. Insane low speed acceleration but the radar gives me old CS5 vibes but still managed to well in it :)

I play the mig29g and a good strat I have found is using radar very sparingly, basically, use radar to get rough direction of enemy turn it off, get low using mountains to break their pings and guiding in using ir search. Doesn't work on alot of maps since alot are too flat and small.
Comfort prop is F4U-4B. Comfort jet is either the Mirage 2000 or Mig 23 ML. Im soooo close to having the mirage 4000 but it feels so far away sometimes.
Don’t touch and grind for any of the 4th gen ussr. The 27er is basically used as an excuse to nerf all the Soviet 4th gen’s. I rather have the r27er removed.

Using dogfight terms isn't cringy since it helps you learn and understand your jets limits in a dogfight. Anyways i hate vs f16 that ain't on us side because they make me have to check any f16 flying around because they might be the enemy 😂
This. Most lvl10 timmies in their 23ML don't check, they see an f16 silhouette, send the missile out and MLU pilot receives a free RTB. AT LEAST it's free these days. Used to really suck having to pay to be TK'd.

@@DotVanish Track IR not the problem. It is War Thunder. Multiple times the view got stuck looking backwards. I am sure it is because of a button I pressed but I have not figured out yet what it was. There was some other viewing problems That I found the buts key bind and disabled them. I am doing keyboard and mouse. I intend to get a joy stick but I need funds.
play 11.0 on ussr and most of the other team IQ has gotten so low 1 player can make the entire other team rage quit on there first take off i was in a 1v5 the other day just doing a slight climb up while waiting for my buddy to takeoff and he just took them all out without even trying and none of them tryed to do a 1 circle they were all trying 2 circle the entire time me 1 circle is head on 2 circle is trying to get on each other 6

Why bother with the flanker and fulcrum, all of their systems, FM are so crap, just due to the fact that they carry the r27er.

I won’t lie I’ve been really enjoying the Harrier GR.7 lately, so nimble and fun to dogfight in with a great missiles and air to ground loadout.
