At Norfolk State University where excellence is a standard; members of The Spartan Legion are scholar musicians who attend class have one of the highest graduation rates of most band programs across the country and are truly dedicated to practicing their performances so that their performances are merely practice. Some say that they are sad that Norfolk isn’t on the level it once was.Truth be told The Spartan Legion has always remained the standard by which other bands measure themselves. (AGGIE PRIDE). 2018 at GHOE was just a glimpse of what’s to come. The way y'all filled out the ENTIRE field is impressive. Incredibly powerful sound I bet they could hear you for miles. 3:24 Just behold that perfect pose. The dancers are killing it! Only thing that sticks out is the dance move at 3:56 which is more of a Prince move. But no I'm wrong.....MJ did it too. Prince's version had more of an angle. 3:57 Can we all take a moment to appreciate this choreo. Watch the four male dancers as they walk-snap to the front to join the female dancers. That was very clever choreo! And we all know MJ loved to walk-snap. 6:35 We get to see the ghouls creep up and do their thang as well. Very entertaining. 4:44 Is a teachable moment. It shows how important it is that the members on the edges of a routine and those in the direct center must hit their mark. If they get uncentered, the other members will follow. As is shown at 4:48. The dancers on the right forgot to spread out to the 45line but they self-corrected. 6:24 THRILLER! Amazing all the MJ dance moves included in this routine. It must've been so satisfying to have been in band that year. You work your behind off practicing for a performance. Then you still have to study and write papers. Keep your grades up. You go to bed so dead-dog tired......but it's a good kind of tired. And nothing feels better than when the crowd cheers cause you killed it!

WOWWW, Incredible!!! Now I'd have to say I love Drum Corps and all, but this hands-down more entertaining than Drum Corps. This is actually what is missing from Drum Corps. More people would probably watch Drum Corps if they'd play the right music!! I like how they MIXED Drum Corps style in with show style!
Nah. People still dont even watch this. Lol. I love both styles. But I love my DCI too. I love getting emotional with they play so clean. Now Show style I'll take with a couple of beers and ready to get in the groove.
This is fantasic, but I think I would still take a good DCI show over this when it comes to amazement in the music and the sound and musicality of the group. Also, dci plays the right music to what are were doing, and that is to get good scores, but when it comes to more casual crowd, this type fits better.
Now when people say A&T has always been better than NSU think again. Every band goes they a rebuilding year. This was A&T’s rebuilding year. They are a lot better now and a lot bigger than pictured here and n this video. Norfolk State is still one of the best programs in the country.
And to think we (WSSU) had just smacked them in the mouth with a MJ show just a week before at that time, y’all took it to a whole notha’ level! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Smacked? You poked the empire and caused them to smack NCAT around ALL show. They are glad they are out the MEAC to escape these experiences of getting drug on their own field. NSU took their fans!
Just Lookin too bad that the only show people remember from Queen's City 2017 was NSUs show. I'll say they are back to this level. Size doesn't make a band like some others.
