Today I'm joined by Aodán Ó Cadhain, from trad supergroup, Socks in the Frying Pan here at day two of Dayton Celtic Festival.
This tune was requested by Eric Palmer specially for his wife Anne, who is indeed a saint!

I would like to speak to the guitar playing . Absolutely great , although he did lose the 1 at one point Pat Metheny spoke about this aggressive right hand strum style and it does a lot for the reputation of the instrument. In the real world we have to play all this to a clic like GarageBand or something now. This petal to the metal style is showboating , and that’s not a bad thing for entertainment well done ! and then … Pandemic

Well, I’m sorry but this is a bit show-offy to my sensibilities,…. I applaud both of you for your prowess, but just because you CAN play something incredibly fast, doesn’t mean it NEEDS to be played that way,…. I realize of course, that taste is an individual matter, but this is just too fast a tempo for what the spirit of tune calls for, it’s best when there’s just a hint of lilting longing as well as exuberance and joy.
