I remember when Vang Vieng was a party paradise. it was so crazy there, lots of drugs, alcohol, and you could literally do anything as a tourist. Glad they cleaned up! Well done Laos

Blue lagoon is usually blue but during rain season mud and dirt drains to the water which changes the color...
Yes, it was not the perfect season to go. But we still had lots of fun in Laos at this time. And best of all it didn’t have many tourists :)

Most excellent video! What amazing scenery! Flying to HCMC 7th Jan, buying motorbikes going up HCM Trail to Hanoi with a friend, taking about a month. Philippines for about a month then back to Hanoi. Then adventures in Laos for a month or so! SOOOOO excited! Thanx again for a super awesome video! ~See you in the jungle!~

Such a unique country to visit. I think so many people overlook it and go to Thailand instead. I think the laying Buddha in Bangkok is actually from Laos too!

The blue lagoon was definitely blue when i was there, perhaps seasonal rains have flooded the region.

Absolutely FANTASTIC! Just Wow! I imagined Laos like a super dirty country with nothing to see there, but damn, those ricefield look no worse than the ones in Bali, the food better than in Thailand and those hills.. I haven't seen anything like that before! Would really love to visit Laos one day, but what about the mosquitoes? Because I am very afraid of all those asian diseases

We did the balloon ride a few years ago. It was 95usd per person but we'll worth it. Also did a cave tour via a boat. Just an awesome place.
My gals brother lives in their father's house in Vientiane. We had one built on the banks of the Mekong farther south.

Yea probably wrong season for the blue lagoon waters compared to other videos but regardless blue or brown I'm jumping in there and enjoying my vacation and I can't wait to visit Laos next year the motherland hopefully I can retired there

You guys went at the wrong time. It's the rainy season when you went to Vang Vieng so all the mud from the surrounding area gets washed into the lagoon. Go during the dry season like January or February and you see how blue the lagoon is.

vang vieng, those cement companies are ruining those karste mountains by gouging the base of these mountains to make cements. sad check out and stop the video at 7:13 and you can see the base of them to the right and that far middle and that one in the emiddle.

Nature is good, otherwise it's the most depressing place ever. Vang Vieng used to be a good place back in pre-2013 before they stopped the tubing. Now it's just a place with super unfriendly local and greedy people (can't blame them, they witnessed so much crap done by tourists and so many idiots). I would never ever recommend anybody to go there. If you like nature there are better places in Laos with actually friendly people. The second time I stayed there it was 80% Chinese, and 20% western Tourists who smoked meth, and just overall drunk people harassing the local population by peeing on their storefront at sunrise. During my 3 days stay two people from my place got drugged by the local women in the night club and they woke up later the next day without wallets or phones. If you're not into cheap parties, drunk tourists, sketchy locals, smoking meth, heroin, or taking shrooms, don't go there. Seriously.
Not sure we agree. Locals seemed very friend and welcoming. And also all the clubbing and partying may not have been the best with lots of accidents this place was floated with drugs and prostitution. Now it is much cleaner, much more calm. And the tourism industry makes even more money than it did from these “poor backpackers” that just came for alcohol, drugs and sex.
@@DreamTeamTravels Just my opinion after visiting twice with almost a decade in between. The drugging and robbing of random people were really bad. Those people just got pills popped in their beers, that was all. Two people from my place in 3 days, must happen shockingly often. But imagine what the locals have been through, I really saw the worst kind of tourists there. The local people are not genuinely friendly, like in similar touristic places that attract massive alcohol and drug tourism, after all that time it's all about the money. There are so many more places in Laos worth a visit, with the same or better nature and really really friendly locals. I just don't know why it has to be Vang Vieng. Visiting Laos is super nice, there is just no specific point why to visit Vang Vieng.
