  • This 2011 Ram 1500 pickup came in with a dead battery. After replacing the faulty battery and starting the engine, I found the reason why the battery went dead. The new alternator that the customer had installed was not charging. The battery light was on and there were two codes stored related to the charging system; P0622 Generator Field Control Circuit Open and P063A Generator Voltage Sense Circuit.
The battery had been down for so long that it would not recover and had to be replaced.

Thanks for taking time to walk us thru diagnosing.
Was that type of plug U could have unseated complete wire with ends and slid into new plastic plug?

Yes, If you had another connector body you could have swapped the terminated wires into it. Thank you for commenting. Hope you also liked, shared and subscribed. Sparky

What was the voltage gauge reading with key on?

My gauge connected to the battery would have read a nominal battery voltage of roughly 12.6 volts. While running it was closer to 12 volts due to the 31 amp load.. If you are referring to the one in the dash, it showed about 1/4 scale according to the video.

Yellow/black wire goes to the top prong?

There are no yellow/black wires at the alternator connector on this model truck. What are you working on?
