I got a tip for you. Whenever legendary pokemon spawns, take normal pokeball and look at the color of the circle. If it's green, it's never real legendary.
Pro tip: hold the ball on the screen to see if it is hard to catch, if it is easy it is a Zorua, or if it has an outrageously minimum amount of CP, it is also a Zorua.
A reminder: shinies in pokemon go DO NOT appear in the overworld. If you find an overworld shiny, it’s 100% a zorua disguising itself as your shiny buddy. Don’t waste ur master balls on these :(

I had a similar encounter with my shiny Mega Gangar, my first reaction was "wait, that's not mine", followed by "wait, Megas can't spawn in the wild" followed by "also it was shiny" It was the girst time Zorua was available, on Halloween, wasn't up to date on the whole Zorua, but since I knew the Pokemon I figured it was a Zoroark, not quite but close enough.
