I asked the same thing when I started thinking about upgrading my Kodiak 450. I build both online and the Grizz eps was thousands more for far less of a machine. One seat only, no notable improvements over the 2008 models, less power/ground clearance/towing capacity/accessories. This Outlander to me checks all boxes aside from the heavyweight but I believe that the extra weight is worth it for 90% of consumers.

About time, every manufacturer is pricing themselves out of the market with theses crazy ATV and sled prices. They had to realize that people can’t afford $20,000 price tags. Even 15,000 is much for an ATV.
Hopefully this will push Yamaha to give its customers an updated Grizzly in the very near future! I like this CanAm, they’re going to do well in this class.
I'd take a 2up with rad relocate and snorkels Not for mudding, here we have wet seasons and beavers, sometimes to stay on the trail it gets sketchy with water levels or mud. So easily crossing these trail spots with no worries is priority for my pick.
Look forward to your take on the Hunting edition if you get it. I had a single cylinder Grizzly years ago, jumped to a Polaris Sportsman 850 and wish I hadn't. I've since sold the 850.
In the summer, my Grizzly exhaust sometimes burns my left leg while my wife and I are out touring. I'm interested in this new can am for that improvement alone. The shifter is fixed, no more TTI rear suspension, more suspension travel, more ground clearance, more storage, a solid 650 single and all that for about $3000 less than the Japanese brands. What's not to love?
Funny. Same w my grizz - I had it since 2007. Just bought the xt 700 and no heat at all. Also smoother, way more power and way more features. And 3400$ less.
Just bought one and sold my 2007 grizz 700 that I had since new. Sad to let the grizz go, it’s like one of my kids and also the same age lol. However I went to buy another grizz but they’re over $17k out the door - the se version in Canada. One dealer I went to also had can am, they weren’t on my list at all. Anyway, read some reviews, found out the outlander 700 xt - after financing deals - is over 3400$ less than the grizz! And more features, plus 17 years of newer tech and lessons learned. So I bought one. My son uses it mainly, I ride my wr250 but we just put 100k on it and it’s actually a big upgrade from the grizz, handling, power, comfort etc. hope reliability is as good (I bought the three year warranty) and I think I’ll miss the diff lock although we had the xt in some pretty gnarly mud and it did fine. In spots where the grizz got stuck too (mud lite xtr). Saved enough money to put heated grips (they’re integrated in the pod, grizz they’re aftermarket), hand guards and a super expensive linq box - and still 2000 less than the grizz. Happy so far.
same here as soon as i heard they were dropping the 650 i bought a 2022 max as i had the 2013 650 max and loved it but decided to get a new one ,love the 650 twin
I hope some of these features transfer to the higher end machines. I like the small glove box and that front linq mounting on the front. Only thing I miss about my arctic cat is the glove box. So handy for small things.
Canam makes their own grip and thumb throttle heaters that fit perfect and work great. If the other manufacturers still use aftermarket heaters I’ll stay with Canam. With my 570 the front exhaust wrapping around the engine the new engine makes sense
They seem like a decent product for sure but no way would the looks and single cylinder get my attention over the Japanese bikes. The small Vtwins on the other hand sounded and performed awesome! Those engines alone drove a lot of people to ride BRP. Hopefully they’ll make a return.
It's price point. Everyone looking for less expensive options and canam just delivered it. I think they look cool and the more they get seen on trails I think they'll be accepted. Reality is they're gonna sell a million of these.

While many of them increased the price without any additional value this year we will see if this inspires them to bring back incentives, drop the price for 2024, or finally redesign. All 3 japanese brands have outdated designs. Maybe we will finally see a new rincon, a grizzly with updated instrument cluster and drive modes, a brute that can not only make it down the trail but also make it back.

@High Octane sure as he'll don't see how. Dealers I have been to in the past or still visit on occasion always complain about the small CC Can-Am they're forced to get but never sell and just sit around. The majority of people that buy Can-Am and Polaris buy for the high horsepower. When most people buy a small CC machine, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha, always get the sell.
Great job as expected. Figured you guys would be there in Texas like some of the other reviewers. Good job on explanation of all the different models. Can-Am doesn't help when they have a 500, 700, then an HD5 and HD7. I've actually seen people say they are 4 different motors. Since you didn't say too much, are you waiting on getting one before talking in detail on the ride experience? Interested to know more about how they "felt" relative to others in their class like the Grizz and BF or KingQuad. Powerful enough, handling, ergonomics?
@@dirttraxtv Too late....I ordered a 700 Pro Hunting Edition last week... lol Supposed to be here in May but I won't bet a dollar on that. Low gearing, great ground clearance, stiff suspension sounded just what I needed for highly technical trails hauling everything I need for hunting and the extra weight if I get lucky. I did add those fancy new heated grips. Love the idea of one button for both grips and thumb.
These are good machines and as much as I loath going to a single cylinder, but the reality is that cheaper and more reliable is a solid bet in this class. If they start making a single pot 850 or 1000 I'm out though lol
i bought the 500 camo , rides better than my honda 400 rancher , is higher and i think wider but feells very top heavey going fast for turns , ive ridden snowmobiles and scoots and atv, ya top heavy
I know can am has stopped making renegade 570 XMR but would you like to come down and test my quad it’s not knew but you did the outlander 570xmr but people would like to know what a renegade 570 XMR has in store
what makes the Pro different now? looking at the XT 700 and pro 700 vs Grizzly. Does the XT have low NVH and long serivce same as the pro? chassis , engine and suspension all seem to be the same with main difference being the pro has more drive modes.
I’m torn! Older fella first 4wheeler. It’s between this and the Sportsman 450. Just for trails on my property. Any advise? 50mph is all I would ever ever need. I want power steering and 4x4
@@dirttraxtv it’s the same dealer, and my guy says both are reliable machines. He likes the 4x4 system on the Soortsman a little better but I’m leaning towards the Outlander.
It's going to be harder for Honda and Yamaha to keep selling the same wheelers for more money year after year when other brands are willing to offer consumers modern features for a better price.
Wrong Yamaha and Honda don’t break all the time that’s why people buy them I hope they don’t change the Yamaha or Honda design because what they have is proven they should just leave it alone.
Interesting marketing strategy and design choice from Can Am. Early adopters aside, I think it will be a few years before those in the single cylinder market jump ship from Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki. Those machines are well proven and battle tested - this new line from Can Am is not. Time will tell but I am not ‘sold’ just yet.
I've been shopping for months for a new utility machine for months, and I just ordered a 700 Hunting Edition to replace my 700 Grizz. Cost was just one factor but the features really swayed me over. Yamaha just offers the same, reliability. That's fine if you keep it the same price but they went up damn near twice what I paid years ago yet all that's changed was a third headlight? Really? Sorry, just not good enough. And when they tried a new engine, pretty much a failure.
Good choice if u already have a grizzly it would be ridiculous to buy a new atv even if the outlander is a lil better in terms a performance. The grizzly are just so fun to drive. Anyway there’s always better. So no need to compare.
If you want to work on or take your atv to the dealer to keep fixing it buy a polaris or can am. If you want to ride your atv buy Yamaha or Honda. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Very very disappointing, a 700 class wheeler only at 50hp when the tried and true 650 was 12 horse more. The twins are one of the many things that set Can Am apart. Now they are just as boring as honda and other Japanese brands, which ironically is what i grew up on. Can Am was a game changer when they went with twins, not anymore and that was key to me switching in the first place. Can Am just lost a customer and a family that has 5 machines already.
not impressed with looks. The front is way to square looking. Also, the gap between the front tire and fender is WAY to big!! Not a fan of these new versions. Merci
These seem real stupid, why would anybody want to buy a Can-Am in a 500 or 700cc when they can buy a more reliable machine like a Yamaha? Only reason I ever consider a Can-Am or Polaris, is for the big 1000 horsepower.

They look much better than the old models and ease of maintenance is a huge plus. I had a 450 and changing the spark plug in it was a hard job
Just got the 2024 500 and it’s perfect ATV for trails. No problems whatsoever.

Exactly. Plus that big storage box in front looks awesome. Should keep your stuff dry unlike that box back by the muffler.
