  • A challenging day for SAICT enforcers on the EDSA busway.
    While many drivers and riders tried to use the exclusive bus lane as a shortcut - they had their licenses confiscated and were sent on their way with expensive penalty tickets.

      That's what I wonder sometimes, if maybe those who are so intent on defending the busway violators - if maybe they're also misusing the bus lane.
      Because if you were using the correct lanes every day and then you see people misusing the bus lane, flying past you - I can't imagine why you'd want to defend them.
      I know that the MMDA and DOTr receive a LOT of complaints like that.
      But let's say that you really don't care, you can surely still understand the impact that it has on commuters, and the busway service. Especially because when you start turning a blind eye to violators, more and more will misuse the bus lane, which eventually will cause even bigger disruptions.

    • @kakabamonster
      @kakabamonster Před měsícem

      Not to defend these violators, but if there are so many of these people that you can make videos about them regularly like this. Then it's a sign that the system needs adjusting, on some level it's the government's fault that there are so many violators in the bus lane.
      Think about it like this. If there was so much rape and murder in a particular city or barangay then at some point you ask where these violators come from. Why do they feel the need to violate so easily? At what point is it the responsibility of the government do something about the situation?
      The high level of violators means there's a lot of room to improve in the system somewhere, the bus lane system? the general traffic problems we've been having? the amount of private cars in the Philippines?
      I think at some point, the responsibility goes to the people that make the decisions, not just the people that violate the rules to "get ahead".

They should also take away your driver's license for six months. That should be enough to make you think twice about driving in the EDSA bus lane. To discourage the use of blinkers they should be fine 2x for using bus lanes and impound the vehicles for 2 weeks or more for multiple previous violations.

    I'm really puzzled though why aren't they apply the same strict implementation between Guadalupe to Buendia southbound. Everyday during rush hour there's quite a number of blatant violators.
    LTO should join them to apprehend and REMOVE unauthorized blinkers. Hoy GISING!!!

    If that guy with the blinkers was in the UK, he would have been arrested for impersonating an emergency vehicle. Authorities would have his car taken away and have points added to his licence & a heavy fine or worse a prison sentence.

    Kudos to SAICT. Great job. However, what I don’t like is that one of the arresting officers hit or beat the owner’s vehicle. If the vehicle drives off, all you need to do is get its plate number and report it to the LTO so they can issue a show cause order.

    One of the real problems is the absence of a cohesive public transportation network. A lot of people resort to bringing their own vehicle on a daily basis, hence, the high volume of vehicles. If taking public transportation were so much more convenient, would the majority still choose to drive within Metro Manila? In the meantime, while we wait for other better and long-term solutions, we just have to bear with stop gap measures. Although there is still room for improvement, I do believe that the EDSA Busway is a step in the right direction and is part of the bigger solution.
