Ever since Reza played an acoustic show in San Clemente last year with his enigmatic friend with a british accent (drive.google.c..., I think we were all very curious to hear and learn more about Billy Tibballs, Mr. Hollywood Baby.
About a year later, we got exactly what we wanted when Billy Tibballs played what I believe to be his first electric show, backed by a familiar Reza on drums + Lucien on bass, and a stunning lead guitar man named Tristan (I overheard).
This was a good rock and roll show. Songs were very good. The familiar Hollywood Baby was incredible, a really good arrangement I thought. A few others stood out for me during the set that I will probably know all the words to in only a matter of days. I appreciated the non-predatory version of Little Queenie with the lyrics changed from "17" to "23".
The songs reminded me of Reza. I see why they are such good friends. I was describing the performance to my sister today and told her about Reza's drumming. I described it "as if God had told Reza he only had this one show to play the drums before dying". Perfectly executed and so full of life. Noah described him as "an animal". I thought that was pretty perfect too.
