Giulio Cesare - Blackwater Valley Opera Festival 2024

Ireland’s Summer Opera Festival took place from 27 May - 3 June 2024 with four performances of G.F. Handel Giulio Cesare in the grounds of Lismore Castle, Co. Waterford. The headline opera featured the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the BVOF Chorus, conducted by Nicholas McGegan, directed by Tom Creed, with Set & Light Design by Aedín Cosgrove and Costume Design by Catherine Fay. The Giulio Cesare cast included Ingeborg Bröcheler, Anna Devin, Nils Wanderer, Carolyn Holt, Sharon Carty, Dean Murphy, Iestyn Morris and Fionn Ó hAlmhain.
Festival Director Eamonn Carroll said, “The atmosphere all week long was just electric, from the world-class performances to delightful dining experiences, and of course the glorious weather. We were delighted to see people of all ages enjoying the programme of events and welcome both returning visitors and those new to opera and classical music. We are indebted to the over 100 volunteers who supported us over the week, our valued sponsors and donors, and we are incredibly grateful to the The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon , Waterford City and County Council Waterford Leader Partnership CLG Fáilte Ireland Kildare Village Marsh, AIB the John Pollard Foundation, Castlemartyr Resort Waterford Distillery and the many local hotels and businesses for their support." 🙏🌟
