  • This shows how easy it is for you to #install your own Fog Lights on your #Rushmore #RoadGlide. You don’t need to buy a kit from Harley-Davidson. Your Road Glide is already wired to have the Fog Lights installed. You can take some, or all Factory Harley-Davidson Lights to install them. But the Factory switch and wiring harness used can be purchased making it a “Plug-N-Play deal. You can use Harley-Davidson lights to make installing lights easy. The Harley-Davidson Part Number for the Switch Assembly is 69200172. The assembly has the Fog switch and two blanks. The wiring harness I used is 69201109. The Black lights are 68000092. Chrome is a different number, but the same cost. Or you can use Aftermarket lights. You just need to make the plugs for those lights and use a relay to handle any extra current they may require over the #LED lights. The voltage is supplied through the BCM. Excess current can ruin the Harley-Davidson BCM. It will cost and the Dealer to replace it. So use caution with Aftermarket Lights.
    You can also use this for the light installation on the #Streetglide too.

    Great video. I think that the second harness that you showed came with the kahuna heated grips that I put on. I didn’t have to use it at the time but I definitely need more light from the crash bars.

      There was only one harness. The other wiring was attached to the lights themselves.

    Very helpful I used your cool flow fan install video also. Does your dash light, light up also when the fog lights are on? I did the install but haven’t added lights yet but if I use the fog light switch I don’t see the dash icon light up like my softail did when adding fog lights.

      @@gtomczak215ii Thanks for watching my video. The only indication the Fog Lights are on are on the switch itself. The dash never has eliminated.

      I understand your frustration not being seen. Just remember when you install the lights, they will work by just hooking them up. But will only work on Low Beam. So do what I did. I took my pine to the dealership and had them program the lights to work both High and Low Beam. Makes the bike more visible.
      Now I ride with the lights on all of the time. It makes me more visible!

      Well, I never really think too much about the washing, just my riding. I just want to let riders know how simple it is to do your own wrenching and not pay the Dealer for something that can be done in the garage.

    I’ve seen poor reviews for these lights on the Harley Davidson website. Apparently water gets in the lenses and fogs it up causing the lights to blow. How are yours holding up? I’m considering buying a set.

    • @TheRoadGlideRider
      @TheRoadGlideRider  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I installed these about 10 months, and 15,000 miles ago. I’ve rode from Virginia to Las Vegas. In rain, cold and Desert Heat. My lights never “Fogged Up” or failed to light the way. I’ve found those that had problems didn’t mount them with the drain hole on the bottom, causing water to form in the light. It’s important to follow directions when mounting.
      Now don’t expect these lights to reach down the road. They give great light on the side of the road and form a “Pool of Light” in front. And give on coming traffic a point to be recognized.
      Thanks for watching my videos. 🏍💨🏍💨

    Good stuff! I’ve been looking at doing exactly this. The P&A manual says that the left switch assembly you installed won’t fit my ‘21 RG Limited. It looks like you used the one for the Electra Glide, is that right? What year is your RG, and can you list the part numbers you used for the switch and harness?

    • @TheRoadGlideRider
      @TheRoadGlideRider  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks for watching my video. My Road Glide is a 2021 Standard.
      I searched my Harley-Davidson Part Catalog and used the Switch Assembly for the Electra Glide Limited Ultra (FLHTK). The Harley-Davidson Part Number for the Switch Assembly is 69200172. It came with the Fog switch and two blanks. The wiring harness I used is 69201109.
      I hope this helps. (I added information to the video description.)
      Later I added the Harley-Davidson CoolFlow Fan Kit too.

      The use of aftermarket lights should be activated using a relay. The current for the Harley-Davidson switch is supplied through the ECU and is limited. If the lights used are too high, it will cause problems.
      The LED lights I used were Factory Harley-Davidson Lights.

    • @TheRoadGlideRider
      @TheRoadGlideRider  Před rokem

      The connection for the switch is already hard wired into the Factory Harness. If you want to use any switch other than with Factory connection, you need a Factory Service Manual to access the Factory Wiring Diagram. Thanks for watching. 🏍💨🏍💨

  • @normb28
    @normb28 Před rokem +1

    are the other 2 switches/Buttons dummy?

    • @TheRoadGlideRider
      @TheRoadGlideRider  Před rokem

      Harley-Davidson has install wiring for most accessories sold for their models. Depending on the accessory purchased, dictates what switch is included. With the Fog/Driving Light set up, only the left is operational. The other 2 are dummy plugs.
      Looking at the switches from seated, the left is Factory Wired for the Fog/Driving Lights. The right switch is Factory Wired for the Accessory Fancool Fan that mounts behind the rear cylinder. The center switch is wired to a Non-Relay Accessory wire plug under the seat. This is the same as the center switch on the left switch panel.
      You will need the Factory Service Manual to see the wiring diagram to follow the Factory Wiring routing. If just installing Factory Accessories, you’re not required to use the Factory Manual. But if you want to use the Factory Switches for other than Factory accessories, you will need to use the Factory Wiring Diagram. But be careful. Harley-Davidson now uses a Buss System. Like the Fog/Driving Lights power is supplied through the ECM. If you make a mistake, you can blow the ECM, requiring replacement.
      Thanks for watching my video.
