  • Hello everybody, my name is Leo and with this video, we will share a direct comparison between the Mooer GE 200 and the Hotone Ampero ONE. First of all, we will hear the two units in action in demo song, then we will compare the technical differences between the two units with a very detailed comparison chart, then we will hear more clearly the units in a specific section of this video, comparing also the GE 200 and the Ampero ONE to real Tube Amps, and finally, I will give you my two cents…I hope you enjoy and please don’t forget to subscribe and to hit the bell…it would be of a great help!

    Leo thanks for the review!! Great way to see the differences!
    I would prefer the Ampero because it sounded significantly more real to me. Although the tone capture feature is nice in the GE200 at the end I haven't heard it to be that real so overall even though I'd be more limited in the Ampero there are a ton of good sounding amps and effects.

    Great rundown and comparison. Can you share your finding for their non-amp modeling tones? Can't seem to find any around that specifically test and compare the effects/modulation/drum machine sound. Quick listen of the two sound clips, the Hotone has the lowest noise floor, and more 'organic' tone than the Moore. Can you share your finding?

    Gran bella recensione! one question, in a live context, which one would you use in terms of ease of use? I've read in another comment you suggested the GE250 for the extra switch, and it's understandable, but which one do you think would fare better on stage between these two?

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  Před 3 lety +2

      Grazie Max! Well, I don't see any particular reason to choose one over the other for live use. If you are fine with 3 foot-switches and one exp pedal, I think that you can choose either of the two.

      Yes, I think you can put the distortion pedal in from of the Mooer GE 200, which does not have a loop. Therefore you can not then control it inside the signal chain of the pedalboard.

    Gentilissimo Leo, scusa la mia ignoranza.. e se non mi rispondi, lo potrò anche capire... :) ma, dimmi se sbaglio, quando tu intendi , per le pedaliere, Jensen + shure, questi ultimi due, sono sempre virtuali , corretto? la IR invece tiene conto dell'accoppiata cab+ mic? e quelle custom hanno comunque dei riferimenti , cioè da quale accoppiata è stat creata (la IR)? Non ho capito come fai ad utilizzare la IR sull'ampli "vero".... ultima cosa, hai mai provato, specie per i suoni puliti, queste pedaliere con la headrusch 108? buona giornata

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  Před 4 lety

      Ciao Luigi, NON sono assolutamente domande "da ignorante"...anzi, scusami se non sono stato chiaro nel video. Provo a chiarire: quando parlo delle pedaliere con Jensen + Shure, mi riferisco alle loro riproduzioni virtuali disponibili nella pedaliera stessa. Ma poichè ogni pedaliera ha la sua "versione" di tale speacker e microfono, credo sia utile anche testare le pedaliere con un IR (Impulse Response) uguale per entrambe, per valutare solo la qualità del suono del modello di amplificatore. Tale IR è comunque l'insieme di speaker e microfono (sempre Jensen + SM 57). Per usare l'IR con l'ampli vero, registro solo il segnare dell'ampli con il Suhr reactive load e poi carico nel computer l'IR (uso torpedo wall of sound) e tale IR è lo stesso delle pedaliere. Non ho mai provato la 108...forse in futuro. Grazie per domanda e spero di aver chiarito. Un caro saluto.
      Hi Luigi, they are absolutely NOT "ignorant" questions ... and sorry if I haven't been clear in the video. I try to clarify: when I speak of the pedalboards with Jensen + Shure, I refer to their virtual reproductions available in the pedalboard itself. But since each pedalboard has its own "version" of this speacker and microphone, I think it is also useful to test the pedalboards with an IR (Impulse Response) equal for both, to evaluate only the sound quality of the amplifier model. This IR is still speaker + microphone (always Jensen + SM 57). To use the IR with the true amp, I record only the amp with the Suhr reactive load and then I load the IR with the torpedo wall of sound in the computer (this IR is the same used in the pedalboards). I have never tried the 108 ... maybe in the future. Thanks for question and I hope I have clarified. See you!.

      Hi Gaetano, the comparison with effects is more difficult than comparing amps, as you don't have a reference. I mean for the amps, you have the real amp, but for the effects it is harder to find out what is the real deal. I will think about this, thank you for your suggestion!

      Hi Matteo, if you have the extra money I would go with the GE 250, expecially for live situation I think that both the etra footswitches and the XLR connectivity is better. As regards the GE 200 or the Ampero One, I would go with the GE 200. For me the possibility to make your own profile with the GE Labs app or to download profiles from the Mooer Studio web site is really a selling point. • @miffokarnevalen
    @miffokarnevalen Před 3 lety +2

    I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it already but at least on the Ampero One you can not only connect an expression pedal to the "Exp 2" connector, but a foot switch to get two more foot switches (a total of five). If that can't be done on the GE200 (it didn't look like that when I browsed through the manual quickly) the Ampero One might have the edge in a live situation.

    • @eirinn

    Is it really that big of a deal to have balanced outputs for live playing? I do like the idea of the smaller units.

      Hi, if you find a good tone that you like with your amp modeling pedalboard, in my opinion is better not to mic, as you are gonna have a consistent sound in every gig, without relying on how good your cab is gonna be mic. The XLR out allows for longer cables without noise, while if you use unbalanced cables, and you run long cables, you are gonna have less quality.

    @philippeverneris8956 Před 3 lety

    Dear Leo, i like the way you play the guitar, but in don't agree with your comparative, sorry...
    At first, the Ampero one costs 280 Euros in europe, and the GE 200 costs 255 euros (so, 25 euros more than the Mooer).
    There are a lot more cabs in the One (34) and more amps (9 ) than in the Mooer, even if there are no empty slots in the One: so it's not fair to put a red mark on this line.
    Same thing for the looper: 50 seconds or 52 seconds is almost the same value and doesn't justify that you put a red mark on the One.
    And, at last, i got both the GE 200 and the Hotone Ampero (the One has the same sounds), and i can assure you that the high gain amp sounds of the Ampero are really the best of both!
    So, i think that, except the price and the impossibility for the ampero One to load profile capture, for me the best sound machine is the Ampero's.

      Hi Philippe, thank you for sharing your opinion. Let me just integrate you comment saying that the prices I mentioned in the video are the ones at the time when the video was done (beginning of may) and that they may change (nevertheless, there are still many shops where the Ampero one price is >300€). As regards the amps and cabs, well, I still think that the green thumb is more appropriate for the Mooer, as the possibility to load profiles in the empty slot is a killer feature, that allows us to expand the tonal possibilities of the Mooer by ourself and actually you can download 10 amp profiles from the MooerStudio cloud very easily, exceeding the number of amps that the Ampero has. With the Ampero your are stacked with internal amps, and only firmware upgrade could bring new amps. As regards looper time, well here I can be more flexible, but for sure I'm gonna be then receiving messages complaining that the looper time of the Mooer is longer :). As regards High Gain I for sure respect your opinion: my only suggestion is to check out also High Gain amp profiles from Mooer Studio cloud, where maybe there could be sounds that you like.
      Thank you once more for you message and for sharing your valuable opinion with us: I think that these conversations are very helpful for other guitarsits in order to find the best solutions according to their needs!
