Yep, this show is 100%, "We "know" that this guy is the dragon and is supposed to be the main character, but if he did everything like the books, he would be rescuing our strong women! And in 2023, you just cannot do that. So we show the bare minimum of him being powerful and then basically just have him show up just after the strong women! do not need him, so he could say, yeah, I could have been powerful here, but did not need to be because you are awesome strong women!""

Recently read WOT books up to Book 4 and this show is nothing like the books. Movies like the 3 Lord of the rings movies, as well as the Hunger Games movies, were amazing because they conveyed the 'feeling' and 'atmosphere' from the books, even if they differed here and there or left out something. Still they were really fantastic (I've also read the LOTR books and the Hunger games books), but this show should not be called WOT as the characters are nothing like the characters in the book and they've changed too much of the story. It is a shame.
Yeah you're never gonna hit it 1 for 1 but the showrunners completely changed every character and aspect of the world. It's actually insane that the mainstream wot subreddits have good reviews for this trash.

Agreed, I find the argument about how the show needed to change so much because of the format almost like gas lighting. They have 48 hours to tell the books, that's almost 3.5 hours per book. Everyone knows the middle books can be condensed down giving even more time to major plot lines. Their argument is base, they had plenty of time to tell the story created by Jordan but chose not too in my opinion.

You forgot to mention that after Not Galadriel opens the arch she, Hollister and Simp just stand there staring at each other dramatically instead of, ya know, GOING THROUGH THE SUPER IMPORTANT ARCH IN A TIMELY MANNER. Thereby conveniently giving Head Boss Lady just enough time to catch up with them. Top tier writing right there.
Also, Cougar lady specifically needed the secret Hagrid map to find the portal, yet _everyone_ else just knew where it was!
If Rand used the power inside the Ways, then they all die. He had to break her shield outside the gate, or it breaks the story of the gate.

This was glorious… which is not usual for something Wheel of Time TV related.
My only disappointment was you not making special mention of Dumbledore’s Rooster doing double duty as Hollister’s Personal Ring Announcer.

Did you not read the books? The forsaken always acted independently, each trying to show each other up, to gain the Dark One's favor. That's sort of his plan, to just throw everything at the Dragon, all willy nilly, because the Dark One only has to win once, but the light has to win over and over. There are no consequences to the Dark One, for failure.

The attention to detail in this show is amazing...
It's because they mixed Lanfear with another forsaken who DOES wear all black. 🤷♀️ They smashed together a couple of different forsaken so there's only 8 instead of 13, like in the books. 🤷♀️ so yeah, that's why she wears all black when being a dream domme. But then she wears colours when she's pretending to be Selene, technically. And then she wears white when she's in Dreamland with Ishy. So yeah when she's acting like her regular degular self and not putting on an act... she's in black... So the show the show is kind of consistent, in it's own way! What colour she is wearing is consistent with the tone of the scene, IMO.

They really sucked all the fun out of the show espeically Gambler. He has an awesome adventure in book 3. He's not mopey. He's very plucky and having fun. Dicing and brawling and rescuing women and hanging out wtih Thom (you know, the guy who's in one episode of season 1 but is a second tier supporting character in the books. He gets more screen time than Not Galadriel does).
Thom....who is this person you speak of? Not some amazing Gleeman with good stories a court bard, knives, sacrificed himself to save Rand and Matt against a fade. Oh right, never happened.

This intro on episode 7 breaks the age logic. 20 years ago Moe and Sue Ann were young, like 20ish and just graduating, skip 20 years ahead and it’s revealed that Moe has a younger sister in her 70’s…sooo wtf is it, she’s 80 and looks 40? But 20 years ago she looked 20 and was a young woman ?

Hilarious! I don't know why but the "cut to...a lizard" was so funny I did a hot coffee spit take all over my keyboard. I've never watched any episodes or read any of the books and literally have no clue what is going on ever in this show and I don't care. Cut to...and scene.
This is a perfect example of the stupidity of this desecration. That lizard is Suroth's pet. In the books, it is a lopar, more like a bear than a lizard; it is over a ton in weight and more than 10 feet in length, and it is named Almandaragal.

This show is a tragic tale of how to destroy an adaptation even with access to all of the books.
The show stopped using the word "adaptation" in S1. It is now "based on".

It would be too short to tell the story, if it had twice the number of episodes. 8 hours isn't enough to cover an 800 page book.

I really want to point out that regardless of the book existence, they spent the entire season telling us how the MojoSwears are super importants and powerfull and you can't break them at all. Only for NotGaladriel to break the first one by using the mojo on people who didn't attack her (and are not litteral monsters).
And she ignored several commands from the person she swore an oath to obey.
And since she wasn't stilled just shielded, the MojoSwear didn't break on her.
It actually works if you know the character. Their adherence to the oaths is dependent on if they themselves believe they are acting within them, or not. If anyone can convince herself that all of the things she is doing, are the right thing, it's Moraine. She has never had a moment of self doubt, her entire story arc.

To maintain, not to shield. It would take more sisters. Traditionally, a full circle of 13 is used to capture a male just to make sure. And Suan isn't that powerful of a channeler to begin with. She was at the top of her generation, but her generation was not as strong as past ones. Probably because the Aes Sedai are not having children and the talent is being lost generation after generation.
and rand is 100x more powerful than logain, and in the book they used 13? aes sedai to capture him

@Liene's_Library the horn was sposed to summon 100ish hero's which is a lot more than it actually did, though it is hinted at in the books i think it's sposed to summon an army of hero's without them knowing exactly how many, and Uno and Matt are deffo not 2 of their number :| . it also doesn't slow time. i feel the MC's are questing to be Evil
they are also way more powerful, brigette is one shoting the ships, she's the one that destroys the fleet

In the books, Mean Girl will work herself into an anger to heal someone and overcome her block.
I refused to watch another destruction of a beloved book series. But from the reviews, this show is just bad TV, even 8f you ignore the break from the books. Terrible editing, janky dialog, worse camrea work.

The show already established that three Aes Sedai struggled to keep Logain shielded from the source. Rand, who is way more powerful that Logain, is shielded by one, who doesn't even break a sweat. Not only does this show shit on the source material, but it shits on itself as well.
It's impossible for any one woman to shield Rand. Even if they caught him by surprise, he could break a shield by Lanfear let alone mid-tier Suan Sanche.

Mean girl didn't get nicked by the arrow, she felt it through the bracelet bond when it hit the neck of her captive. And she doesn't do anything to help since she can't figure out how to use her Mojo when she is not worked up. Maybe next season she will figure that out?

The nails are an INCH long in the books. An INCH. And they're painted. Not jsut nasty long nails. So doesn't interfere with sword fighting. And is Hollister actually doing something from the book for the first time this season? Wow. How surprising. That's not Gambler's weapon. It doesn't the dagger on it. It's a proper weapon that he gets in such an awesome way. Yeah, the characters are way darker in the book. Also, Cliff Girl does not save herself. She gets saved by Mean Girl and princess. And her Mordsith is not killed but is left collared and thus exposes this terrible secret that will have implications across the entire series. Doggo died in book 1. Wow, they let Gabmler blow the horn. Thta's two male character that got to do something from the book. Amazing. Why doesn't mean girl just heal Princess? I mean, glad they set up Holister and Princess when they met in Book 1.Cradle is Semiraghe. She never captures Trinity in the books. But... It looked like an actual book accurate character being a Black woman who wear a white dress. So they can copy outfits from the book. So this was supposed to be the boko 3 and book 2 climaxes put together and they left out Callandar. It's the ulitmate proof that he's the dragon.
The showrunners don't seem to think anything as described in the books will translate to screen. It's why the Aes Sedai rings are so large and ridiculous, and also why they changed the way the a'dam look. A collar and bracelet isn't good enough, it has to cover the damane's entire shoulder and the bracelet needs to be a bracer.
"Cradle" isn't Semirhage... she's Moghedien... "the Spider".
@@Nyet-ZdyesYeah, that makes sense with the blatant cat's cradle. I didn't watch the show only her review and I thought she looked like Semirhage. I don't think the spider would have the guts to capture lanfear. This really feels more like a Semirahage story.

@@Seomus in the books ALL the male Forsaken were stronger than all the women, with Lanfear and Semirhage both being the strongest women, but Lanfear always had an an'greal in her possession the entire time to make her appear stronger. That an'greal is the one that Moiraine got when she was rescued from the 'Finns. Moghedien was the WEAKEST of all 13 of the Forsaken.
But for Rafezemon's show, we cant show that ANY woman is weaker than a man, Oh heaven's no!

Season 1 was bad, but season 2 was just a different beast. Almost a whole cloth new creation, inconsistent, ugly, and befuddling. Wow this was bad.

These are hilarious! I did think this season was vastly improved just because they toned down the virtue signaling and just started to tell an actual story. The female characters actually faced setbacks and were not all powerful and had defeats and weaknesses. The magic though is still as powerful as the plot demands. (How many times is rand silenced? Isn't the dragon supposed to be the most powerful person in this world?) And now the things that are bad are just some of the actual plot points instead of the whole show. As someone else said, if you can accept this as being "based on the Wheel of Time" instead of it being an adaption of TOT, it makes it easier to take.
idk about story, but I certainly thought the production value improved in season 2, the costumes were less cheap and strange, the lighting was better and more flattering, etc.

@brianlinden3042 ha well I did watch season 1 but I was waiting on the verdict for season 2. Can't trust a lot of people. I remember Daniel Greene was saying how good it was in s1. So seeing this reassures me I'm not missing much
