"Rule #4 - draft Saquon Barkley with a late round flyer.." wow thanks so much
IndieAir Thanks for taking my job. I was going to say the same thing. (Don't you think he'll be gone in top 5 analyst?)
He also said to draft players early in their careers because every season guys like kamara and thielin become stars. That’s why Saquon was up there.
You should be happy now
Stack players from same team....then says watch your bye weeks...
B L Exactly...
Bye weeks are just 1 week out of 16 and if you draft smartly, you will have other players that can fill those roles. Last year I had Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill and Devontae Freeman and Julio Jones. Won my league. This year (I drafted 9th overall), got Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce (even Pat Mahomes and Harrison Butker in later rounds), and Dalvin Cook and Stefon Diggs. Those were my Top 4 Picks. I also have Theo Riddick and Kerryon Johnson (Lions; as insurance) and Chris Hogan, Edelman, and James White (fuck the Patriots though). These were later round picks so basically BPA and if one RB or WR emerges over the other, I can drop one (and pick up someone else in FA).
to me riddick is so underrated i may be biased because im a lions fan but riddick does not get yards but he is dangerous in the red zone. one thing about him is that he knows how to get past the line for the 2 extra yards
I don't think you can roll your dice on Barkley in the late rounds cuz he will probably be a top 5 pick lol
Craig Eshelman lmao
Saquon Barkley... going late. You just said RB is priority number one and you think Saquon would be there later on. Come on, guy. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Always sucks when someone takes the guy you really wanted right before your pick and then you have to decide who you’re taking instead.
It happens to me every year. It sucks harder when your best player gets put on IR early in the year.
Mock drafts prepare you for this
Rule # 1 Start drinking after the draft.
Bro I know right lol! Last few years I didn't drink (or smoke live in WA), you need a clear head when drafting especially if money is on the line. But.... You SHOULD encourage others to drink lol (as long as they aren't getting ready to drive). It's a competition and you should try to take advantage any way you can.
Nice...
3kidsnwifey but did you win
Oh Dell two 2nd place finishes, one 3rd place finish, one 11th, 12 team league past 4 years. Still got my money back plus more. Last year my first 3 picks were lost for the year (Johnson, Rodgers, Cooks) so I came in 11th, too much to overcome, had Watson (ACL), Chris Thompson (Broken Leg) too lol so last year was just one of those years.
Ray W more like before 😂😂
Rule #10 - In the last round, draft the worst player on your favorite team, just for laughs from the league.
Ro G kaepaernick
yea dont take jacksonville D like my friend did last year, take a joke pick that will be totally useless. Nice advice
Keep your eye on Greg Zurlein in the draft. He ended up winning me a couple games last year. You all probably know this, but I just thought I’d remind you.
same for me. if he's on the board i'll take him before D/ST. they love to trot him out for chances on long kicks. greg the leg! plus streaming defenses has always worked well for me.
I don't do kickers for that reason, games shouldn't be won or loss by kickers, ruins the fun
Legatron
RelievedBigfoot I had him last year too and he was a secret weapon. He finished the season with more fantasy points than a bunch of big name receivers. However, don’t reach for him! Yeah, he may have another great year, but it’s still a kicker. He seized the kicking opportunities given to him by an offense that struggled with finishing drives with a score. All it takes is them converting a little bit more this season and Zuerlein will fall back down to the average kicker line. If you can get him when the late rounds approach, awesome! Just don’t go mid-rounds because that’ll be a wasted pick.
Creed Bratton In what way do they ruin the fun? Honestly curious, because they’re just one player and it’s a vital part of the game. Games are won or lost far more often by all the other positions. Last season Zuerlien was a statistical outlier.
You forgot one rule. Play the waiver wire like a champ!
nemesisbreakz this is my first fantasy draft, what’s a waiver wire?? I accidentally took Melvin Gordon bc he was up high and didn’t realize till after that he is going to prolly hold out most of the season.
Hey everyone - swing for the fences and use a late round flyer on Barkley! Genius
My team. Opinions welcome 😉
QB: Russell Wilson
RB: Kareem Hunt
RB: Jerick McKinnon
WR: Julio Jones
WR: Larry Fitzgerald
TE: Evan Engram
Flex: Brandin Cooks
Def: Eagles
Kicker: Robbie Gould
Bench: Dak Prescott
Bench: Rashaad Penny
Bench: Chris Carson
Bench: Jonathan Stewart
Bench: Allen Robinson
Bench: Tyler Eifert
Bench: George Kittle
Well done Field, i was drafting QBs too early, also drafting a QB backup seems to be a a wasted choice, now if i'm not choosing a backup QB, what should i draft instead?
He must define value as total season value. The problem with that is FF is a weekly H2H game. Your best value is drafting players that get consistent points in positions where consistent points are harder to come by. I've almost always drafted WRs first, then a RB or a TE depending on how it's going, then filling the rest in. Its much harder to come by consistent WR and TE points outside the top tier players in those positions than it is at RB. You can always pick RBs that still get around 10pts a game easily and ride TEs and WRs that are getting 15-20 most games.
For me 10 person ppr League my strategy is to draft the best WR in the 1st 3 rounds then try to hoard WRs once you are done making your team, I decided to trade Josh Gordon and Derrick Henry for Dalvin Cook because a guy was so desperate for a WR. I did that and with some trades my team is
QB- Wilson
RB- Dalvin Cook
RB- Joe Mixon
WR- Julio
WR- Odell
TE- Jordan Reed
Flex- T.Y. Hilton
Defense- Eagles
Kicker- Chris Boswell
The tip about byes is stupid. By week 8 or whatever your team will look very different than the one you drafted so why care???
Jackson LeMessurier Because if your three best players all have the same bye week, you probably have a loss that week when you could get very similar players with different byes
Not if you draft well, it won't.
Jackson LeMessurier I agree. The only time I worry about bye weeks is to make sure my Defense and Kicker don't have the same bye week.
Devin Gross That also means that you'll have your 3 best players for the rest of the season and there's no guarantee you'll lose said week anyways. Bye weeks are not important.
I’m using ESPN fantasy draft and it doesn’t have a number by the player for their bye week?? And it has a red like square, like a message icon what’s that mean?
i got my qb waaay too early this year, i am just not great at drafting, i picked up Brees maybe around 70th pick in a 10 team ppr league, i just wanted to finish out my roster but then i goth Roethlisberger at like the 13th round and they are really not that big of a gab, i could have picked up another strong RB because right now i have R Freeman and Bell and i would like a replacement for Freeman in case that does not pan out.
Just Drafted:
QB: Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes
RB: Kareem Hunt, Dalvin Cook, James White, Theo Riddick, Kerryon Johnson, Marlon Mack
WR: Jarvis Landry, Stefon Diggs, Chris Hogan, Randall Cobb, Julian Edelman
TE: Travis Kelce
Defense: Jacksonvillie
Kicker: Harrison Butker
Thoughts? Got an A+ NFL.com Fantasy rating.
I like that you picked up Cobb not even a Texans fan and I feel like he’ll step up a little bit for the absence of dhop on that offense
I think he's right about taking RB first but after that do whatever you want
My 5 Rules: Get a Stud Running Back, Wait on QBs, Draft Defense & Kickers Last, Look at the Bye Weeks, and must importantly have fun and remember this is called "Fantasy" for a reason.
I draft kickers as my second to last round so I can get a justin tucker or legatron and then go defense last and play off of matchups
Rule #10: Don't take your favorite team's players in favor of another rival's players. I'm a Broncos fan and went unbiased last year and ended up taking Travis Kelce, in spite of my obvious hatred for the Chiefs and I went to the championship. Having Adam Thielen on my squad didn't hurt either
Rule # 1 - Do not take advice Fantasy Football advice from Field Yates
great host, but he is still learning the game of fantasy football. This was a sweet video though!
He's catching on.. I like him better than Matthew Berry anyway
925 Sports this video really wasn’t that bad for those just learning how to play imo, the only rule I’d contest is actively looking to stack, because that goes against his value rule
but he beat zac efron for the championship in the espn league last year!!!
What's a bye week?
There are many dymanics in FF. My team gets .5 per carry. Picking running style QB early is ideal..or maybe just Jackson.
What happens if you run out of bidding money
Can't wait until kickoff...
so when is the right time to draft the Jags D? because I know my room.. and the last 3 rounds aint gonna cut it.
Shane J how big is your league? I’m dealing with the same issue. They are the clear cut best plus they have an easy strength of schedule
Shane J just don't draft them then, if someone is stupid enough to draft a defense before the last two rounds let them.
Bradford Ross 10 man. i need those 20 points they were putting up every week.
SageKStroke52 ehh. i always draft a top defense earlier than the 13th round. and its always been a big boost for my team and my decision making on sundays.
Shane J really? I just stream. Granted it has come back to bite me in the ass before, but I can't pass up a pick that could go to a high upside player or maybe my QB.
So I shouldn’t draft Mark Sanchez or Gino Smith first?????
Sanchez and Smith should be selected 1st round this year.
Nathan Peterman or Colon Kaepernick are also good first choices
*geno
Connor Boyle I second that. Gems like them have gotten me far in fantasy.
Get dan bailey
Rule # 1 don't listen to a thing Matthew Berry says...Terrelle Pryor
Austin Stark I always say go opppo of Matt. Usually works out for the best. You gotta think too these guys might be putting misinformation out there to fuck with there friends lol
He said draft based on value and wait on quarterbacks although this year I drafted Lamar first overall and I had a pretty good draft in a 20 man league
This My Team
QB: Jimmy Garoppolo
RB: Alvin Kamara
RB: Jerrick McKinnon
WR: Michael Thomas
WR: Doug Baldwin
TE: Kyle Rudolph
Flex: Alex Collins
D: Chiefs
K: Robbie Gould
Bench: Rashaad Penny
Bench: Will Fuller
Bench: Matthew Stafford
Bench: Carlos Hyde
Bench: Marquise Goodwin
Bench: Jack Doyle
Bench: Robert Kelly
Good minus McKinnon i watched every game of his career and know there is no chance of him being a top 20 back he is awful based on where he is being drafted this season......i guess a lot of backs figure it out in their fifth season....
Sounds like you are in a 6 team league my friend. Or a 12 team full of idiots
I am glad you are alive Tupac!
Good squad
😂
I am taking defense first this year
Doesn't Rule 6 contradict Rule 5?
At pick 5 would you take Antonio brown or Saquon Barkley
cj kinsey Brown, almost every year he finishes as the top WR
AB definitely
Barkley.
Brown, without thinking twice.
Tough
Who gets a QB early these days? Maybe people still do. I've been getting Rivers in the 8th-9th for years!!! Hasn't let me down
Silas Leeks only 2-3 players worth getting early if all good players are taken imo. Rogers, Brady, and Brees
Draft early for Rogers or Wilson otherwise it ain't worth it.
Barkley as a lye round flier? Yeah... no. Also, stacking has minimal value in season long fantasy leagues. It’s more important to get the best value instead of holding out to stack a QB and WR. Daily fantasy is different. In daily stacking is almost essential.
Bye weeks should NEVER factor into your decision to draft a player or not. Value and talent are all that matter, letting one week determine whether you draft someone or not is absolutely stupid.
Defenses are now going in rounds 8, 9 &10 not 13, 14 &15
This didn’t talk about DE or LB
You draft whole defenses. Those positions don't matter
Rule #1 don’t listen to other peoples rules
Wait... this isn't FPL!*closes-tab* >:(
shoot. Accidentally took Janikowski in the first round
Agree with everything single "rule". How I draft as well. I'm the lebron james of my league
I thought u actually meant fantasy 'football' lol
This year I drafted David Johnson 1st round and Leonard Fournette third round, not realizing BOTH their bye weeks are week 9 😂😂
Still worth it, not sure how you got fournette in the 3rd round. He usually doesnt make it out the second.
@@drej1015 so tired 😂
@@ElChapoEP ??
Yh Barkley late in the draft right
Rule #10 pick Greg Zuerlein first
Rip rule 9
My room not gonna have def and kickers left after round 10
I don’t see the reasoning in drafting a defense or a kicker. You can almost always stream those positions. I think it’s better to rack up on RBs and WR.
BweezyM after I select a beast QB at 6th round. I load up on wr and rbs
Agreed. Unless you have Jags or Rams.
AIR LEBRON Beast QBs are still available for you at round 6? Damn lol, in my leagues they typically go rounds 1-4.
You should be racking up on talent if people in your league are drafting that idiotically.
Barkley 😂😂😂
I know the people in my draft room, they are redskins fans and take quarterbacks and defenses early. But what exactly do I do with that information? Draft Redskins players for trade value? somebody please help
The Goblin Gang If they're drafting quarterbacks and defenses early that means there is probably going to be higher value picks available to you. Find those picks and build yourself a nice team.
Draft RBs and WRs for the first 8 rounds. Then trade for what you need.
He's wrong about tight ends. After the 32 starters, there's really nothing of value at all, so you might as well hoard them.
But theres usually only 10 or 12 teams in a fantasy league, not 32
Rule #7 Draft 3 quarterbacks from the same team, so if they get injured, you have a replacement.
Hb te wr qb
Rule #1: There are no rules
Rule #1 - Don't listen to a guy named 'Field'
Why? Pretty good name for football related profession dont you think?
Zeke or Gurley
bennyhaha19 gurley, defenses are gonna stack the box on zeke
Like there not going to do it for Gurley......
Multi Alumni no because rams actually have GOOD “Wide receiver” either you guard gurley or you guard the wr😐 cowboys are all running game this yr
Who has a better team, who has a better coach ? Even if they box gurley they will find a way to use him
hmong Xiong sure buddy sleep all you want on the cowboys wr core someone will step up each time for us. So on that note " Lets Go Cowboys"
Step 1. Only do auction drafts. Way more fun to be had.
Bro, wtf is this? What has happened to you ESPN?
Wtf are you talking about?
You should always Draft Backup QB because of Bye weeks no matter how good you Starting QB is
Nah, you can get a serviceable backup on the waiver wire if you have to
Uhhh no you shouldn't
Nathan Adams shit advice
I drafted Watson in the last round in both my leagues last year...too bad they aren't keeper leagues lol
Agreed. I always take a backup if the value is there towards the end. Someone will get desperate and will want to make a trade. Be smart.
Couldn’t make it an even 10
most of these rules if u didnt know them u were never going to be good at fantasy football.
It’s pretty simple, don’t draft like an idiot and you will win!
100% works every time
not when u draft david johnson 1st overall
Parker MacDonald I did last year almost won the Damn thing. I also drafted Zeke too lol
nik obrenic I won last year after drafting Johnson at #2 or 3 overall, but I also made some savvy moves to get Kamara and Ingram and they both had a crazy year
@@parkermacdonald1784 yeah but you can't control injuries
Hey forget this let's go to the strip club :)
There are some really bad rules in this lol
Rounds 1-4: RB, RB, WR, RB. I GUARANTEE you will win your league
Ct. Wiffle definitely RB's first but going 2 and 2 is also great. Receivers have much more depth in talent so if you can snag Ertz or Kelce they are the only worth it TE's
RB, RB, WR, WR, RB then whatever
I like it
I feel sorry for whoeva does what this guy says lls
I'm guessing you never won a fantasy title
Do the exact opposite of what he says and you will win
Rule number one don’t listen to this... smh
Rule number 11: Anyone who watched this already plays and already knows all these things
lmao I like how ignorant old people were whining about Esports content on ESPN, but Fantasy Football..? XD
Umm fantasy football is related to football, which is an actual sport
Foreals keep video games out of it and I’m 18
Robert Penn What about Madden thats related to football 🤔
Well fantasy football has increased the NFL's popularity and viewership so....
Just get rid of kickers already
Top QB will get you 20-30 points a week. I hate hearing these guys say wait 6th or later for a QB. The chances of getting a baller 6th or later isnt always likely. Just remember if you wait on your QB your probably losing a ton of points majority of weeks.
Nah you can’t wait, it’s super see this season. I wouldn’t suggest choosing a QB before round 8-9
I drafted brees 5th round last year, and he got out performed by many QBs drafted in the late rounds or even undrafted ones....This year QB is even deeper, I would def wait. I rather have Matt Ryan in the 11th round than Wilson in the 5th round.
I know that anecdotes usually aren't useful to back up broad claims, so you might still be right and I'm not saying you're wrong, but in 2015 I drafted Cam Newton in the 14th round. Also, Matt Ryan in 2016 I don't even think was drafted in my league.
I think that it's a matter of correctly knowing who is over and under valued. For example, Newton in 2016 was QB1 in our draft, taken in the 3rd round, but I never would've taken him nearly that early because I knew he was likely to regress from his stellar 2015 numbers. Meanwhile, Carson Wentz showed signs of being a good QB in his rookie year, so he was a really good choice to potentially be a late round steal last year, and he ultimately was.
The backup Colts QB will play more games than Luck. Worth a spot. Mandatory handcuff for the injury prone one year wonder....
President Trump >>>>>>>>>leBum
#RapistKobe admitted he was Shaq's sidekick. trumps a bafoon
TRUMP in 2020.
fuck donald trump. you dumbasses would beg for him to shit in your mouth just so liberals could smell it. enjoy being conned
