One of my favorites. 19 years of Chevelle being my all time favorite band. You did an excellent job. Wish I knew what to buy to get Pete’s sound.
Chevelle has always been compared to Tool, i think Chevelle has their own sound that is unique and if not a little more heavy than Tool 🤘 Great job!
I totally don’t get these comparisons to Tool. Every new band that has some slow passages and uses some effects gets the “sounds like Tool”-stamp. Even bands like Chevelle that are around forever happen to be compard to them. Personally, when I’m analysing the songs, I often don’t see any similarities. And thanks bud! :)
Yeah plus the different drop tunings. They are very bass heavy compared to tool.
@@MaxNiessl I agree. Chevelle is nothing like Tool outside of using the same instruments.
@trafficking2596 gonna have to disagree here. Yes the music is very different, much heavier and less prog. However I feel at least specifically the way the guitar is orchestrated is very similar to Adam Jones' playstyle. It's not necessarily that they're doing the same thing, but the overall feel towards the song is very comparable. Both guitarists have a way of writing simpler riffs that when played add so much to the song. You can hear the tension building, the placement of strategic deadnotes for rhythm, and the solos for sure are tension builders and service the song rather than other bands where the guitar solo is more like "Hey look at me and what I can do.
@@jakerohrer5Going to agree somewhat. While Chevelle overall has their own thing going, there are a lot of times where I listen to a song I've heard literally hundreds of times and it pops out at me and I think "ooooh, that's so Adam Jones". There are similarities, but I more often find myself saying "ooooh, that's so Pete" when listening to Chevelle.
Interestingly though, very rarely do I find the vocals particularly comparable, nor do I find Sam's drumming to be very Tool-esque.

Excellent work, as usual!! Tool and Chevelle are two of my favorite bands! How about a live concert where Chevelle opens up for Tool?....many others have suggested this. In regards to overall music, both bands are amazing! The difference is in their live sound. Tool is consistent with delivering a "huge" live sound. Chevelle delivers when they play large festivals. When Chevelle headlines their shows at smaller gigs, they lack in a "big" live sound. It takes nothing away from the band, but they need to hire badass sound engineers.....if they did this, they would easily fill large venues, like Tool does. Chevelle is one of my top three bands....love these guys!!

Love these guys! Show some love. They got totally screwed by their record label Epic. Wish they had more to show for all their effort over the last 20 years but the music is and has always been amazing.
Yes, such a shame that record labels are allowed to do something like that. But now they are free and I hope they get a better deal with a better label :)

Chevelle is definitely awesome! New Gojira stuff looks promising, but chances are that a lot of other people will already hop on the train of covering it, so we’ll see. Don’t see a point to cover it, if I have nothing to add. I would really love to cover something off the new Wheel album, though...

@@MaxNiessl No worries man that song is wild... I feel like it will require lots of work to decipher. Do you need that vibrator thing Cam used lol? Do you have any tips on recording? I have tried plugging my guitar into an interface but I couldn't get a good tone compared to my marshal amp... I got me a mic to try and record the amp and it still doesn't do it justice. What is your setup like?
Yeah... I think I need that. I use the Kemper directly into my interface, but that’s a processed signal. I don’t really have experience in micing up cabinets or using DIs for plugins. But you can definitely get some nice tones with plugins these days :)
