Only Oh Canada, especially the dual English/French version, is the only other National Anthem to move this Minnesotan to watery eyes. Such a great anthem. Solid.
LoL...21yrs of not singing this, and even the french comes back to me like it was just yesterday😃Awesome! God I miss it... 🇨🇦Happy Canada Day🇨🇦 I hope everyone had a blast!🤘🏼✌🏼
Probably one of the best renditions of both anthems together by an awesome pop rock singer I loved listening to growing up in the 90's. You rock Alanis, well done!!! :-D
Beautiful rendition of both the US and Canadian anthems by Alanis! What a terrific way to represent her dual citizenship. I'm proud to be an American by birth! Although, I adore O Canada when sung in French and English.
the Canadian Anthem is so beatifull, alanis morisette singing still more beatifull, i woul like to make a travel to canada, hope one day, Greetings from Brazil
I am just south of BC but i love Canada day because around here we combine it with our 4th of July, it is like a week long celebration of fire works and festivities. Both Anthems are so beautiful. Thank you for posting this video.
AS A HUGE ICE HOCKEY FAN FOR MANY YEARS 😂 I WOULD LIKE TO SAY HOW WONDERFUL IT WAS TO HEAR THE CANADIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM. GOD BLESS 💕 TO ALL ICE HOCKEY FANS. YOU ARE THE BEST.👍💯⭐🏒⛸️
The US anthem has an air of blood thirst as it was written during a time of war. O Canada is a beautiful song that ignores any of that and is written with love in the heart not disdain.
Then type in "Meatloaf National Anthem" in the search bar. Meatloaf's version at a baseball all star game is FAR FAR superior to this weird sounding stuff by Alanis. (Odd adding of syllables, weird vocals, strange pronunciation, etc etc etc). Alanis is weird and so is her singing.
Please don't get me wrong. I love Alanis. Her version wasn't bad at all. But I wouldn't call it the best I've heard - no goosebumps here. And to each his own - if this is your favorite, great! But to say that she sings it better than we can? Huh? Completely disagree.
I wish more would sing our anthem. People look down on singing the anthem here for some reason, but I would guaruntee that no one would forget the words, like they have in recent years.
before our high school basketball games, the student section put their arms around each other during the national anthem and sing the last the last few lines. it's like how Kansas sings their alma mater. the idea my school does is amazing, and we all love doing it.
@BrownBrother27 YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim Corneilsen's awesome at the UC. The UC erupts when the National Anthems being played. Even when a team from up North's visiting us, they still have respect for O Canada as well.
The lady can carry a tune! I like the way she sings it purely, without the unnecessary fluctuations that another Canadian singer (who shall remain Celine Dion) can't seem to sing without.
Wtf. Celine is a vocalist and sings much better vocally. Alannis is amazing as well but different. You can’t compare them. Two different types of singers.
Part 2: I thought that was weird that they didn't listen to the anthem every day in the states. In Canada, we know the national anthem in both languages very early and especially in school when we're young, everyone sings it at the end of morning announcements. In highschool we mostly just listen to it unless there's an assembly or something (or one guy just feels like belting it out one day and the rest of the class joins him...lol).
tune is from "To Anacreon in Heaven", which was famous enough in London in its time. And it was meant to sing with as many voices as possible; praising wine and entertainment is certainly not a passive business... ;)
@BrownBrother27 Try going to the United Center to a Hawks game............ It is THE loudest arena when Jim Corneilsen songs the National Anthem. Even when a Canadien NHL teams visitin.,,,, the fans still sing O Canada and sing along with ours as well.
@hwllll Canada has TWO official languages: English and French. It is often sung in both languages. Ottawa is on the border with Quebec, the French-speaking part of Canada. Lots of the Sens fans are French.
It actually surprises me how few Americans know their national anthem, that's not an insult, or me saying, HAHAHAHAHAHA WE KNOW OURS LOLZ! But considering how much it is played, and how much it does mean to the average American, or so it is shown too. I really rarely hear my country's national anthem get played, but Americans, its like every single sports game. Although I think they do it for football in the UK, I shant lie, I don't watch.
Or maybe that English and French are each legal and national languages Canada! She's just being respectful... Ottawa may be the team on the ice but the whole country is behind any Canadian team in the playoffs.
As an American, many of us grew up being taught to listen to it in silence, to give our respect to the anthem and the flag. I mean, I would love for us to be like the Canadians, but I think both reactions are respectful and patriotic. And I agree, it is very difficult to sing our anthem.
I love when she holds the mic out and the entire stadium sings! Beautiful moment
Tears me up EVERYTIME and it makes me so GD mad that Trump has RUINED our country and it's standing in the World.
Only Oh Canada, especially the dual English/French version, is the only other National Anthem to move this Minnesotan to watery eyes. Such a great anthem. Solid.
I dunno why, but same here.
LoL...21yrs of not singing this, and even the french comes back to me like it was just yesterday😃Awesome! God I miss it... 🇨🇦Happy Canada Day🇨🇦 I hope everyone had a blast!🤘🏼✌🏼
this never gets old...
So proud to be Canadian!
The American National anthem is really really hard to sing and stay in tune well done Alanis.
Canada is a great country, the people are very nice and friendly and i really like the canadian national anthem, greetings from Germany
Probably one of the best renditions of both anthems together by an awesome pop rock singer I loved listening to growing up in the 90's. You rock Alanis, well done!!! :-D
Wow. Gave me goose bumps
Well done, Alanis! Such a beautiful performance of both anthems
🇺🇸❤🇨🇦

Canada's national anthem is beautiful!
she is amazing! :-)
she's so gorgeous... what a voice...
Good job Alanis and good job Ottawa.
Canada's anthem is such a kumbaya moment 💘
Love Her, Love It, Love Them.
America and Canada forever!!
North, Central, or South America? Yay Canada!
I like her version! So deep and serene!
I kept on waiting for her to break out into 'You Oughta Know'
the Canadian Anthem is so beatifull, alanis morisette singing still more beatifull, i woul like to make a travel to canada, hope one day, Greetings from Brazil
BRILLIANT my favourite version of both anthems. What a sweetheart!
I'm American but I love that Canadian anthem so much! Really gets you in the mood for hockey
Woo America! Woo Canada!
Ya go both
Your 👍🏻
Both anthems are way better than the Australian one (where I'm from) but I would definitely pick the Canadian one over them all. Great song!
We Canadians are proud and lucky to have your United States next door. All the best.
Of course, I love Canada's anthem in French and English, but I also like the USA anthem. They're both beautiful.
In the voice of Alannis Morissette everything sounds beautiful but you are right the US anthem sounds great!
The Canadian Anthem sounds more and more sweet to me now on 11/10/2016.
love the Canadian anthem :)
+sweetlikez It is so much more patriotic than my nation (Britain's) anthem.
It's nice but I prefer our old anthem "The Maple leaf Forever".
I am just south of BC but i love Canada day because around here we combine it with our 4th of July, it is like a week long celebration of fire works and festivities.
Both Anthems are so beautiful.

Greetings. From England
Her version of O Canada on Opening Night back in 92 was just amazing. Unfortunately it's nowhere to be found on CZcams.
Here you go, friend. czcams.com/video/HXHop5bJFdE/video.html
Here it is czcams.com/video/HXHop5bJFdE/video.html
Love Alanis and love "Oh Canada". I wish the U.S. had such a cool national anthem.
God bless our American and Canadian friends. 🇫🇷
That said, you Canadians sure seem to love your National Anthem, (and hockey, too), and I guess that's cool.
Just beautiful
Nicely done
It was really cool to hear the US anthem!!! :)
Too bad the '92 version isn't on CZcams! DAMN THAT WAS GREAT!!!
Here it is czcams.com/video/HXHop5bJFdE/video.html

amazing anthems. acapella too soo good
Hockey will keep this country together ❤️
7 years later...still my favorite version of "The Star Bangled Banner" ever. Leave it to a Canadian to sing our song better than we can.
Seriously? Never heard of Whitney Houston's version, I'm sure. No? Try Marvin Gayes version.
Please don't get me wrong. I love Alanis. Her version wasn't bad at all. But I wouldn't call it the best I've heard - no goosebumps here. And to each his own - if this is your favorite, great! But to say that she sings it better than we can? Huh? Completely disagree.
Jim Cornelison that is all
sakeporo Whitney's lip synched version? No thanks
perfect.
Our countries are oh so proud nations. Let our countrys live as family FOREVER!
I'd love to see the video of her singing O Canada in 1992.
czcams.com/video/HXHop5bJFdE/video.html
Who's here in 2021 wishing that the nation and the world was as united as we once were!
I wish more would sing our anthem. People look down on singing the anthem here for some reason, but I would guaruntee that no one would forget the words, like they have in recent years.
True Canadian pride
CANADA

@BrownBrother27 Sounders and US Soccer games you can hear the anthem loud and proud
That's pretty cool. I've never seen that at any sporting event.
Agree....
The lady can carry a tune! I like the way she sings it purely, without the unnecessary fluctuations that another Canadian singer (who shall remain Celine Dion) can't seem to sing without.

it may be because the usa anthem is hard to sing ,,,, also ,, the canada national anthem is the most beautiful and heart wrenching in all the world
One thing especially in these days their is a respect for both and only Hockey has that

Sounds like a blast. I'll join in with the chorus, haha.
Or maybe that English and French are each legal and national languages Canada!

Oh dude, god have an incredible voice, in this god I believe, long live to canada¡¡¡¡
Lol nice Dogma reference.
I'm American and found Canada's national anthem really beautiful. Ours is really beautiful too but harder to sing
