After watching this match, it's crazy to think that the USA team didn't qualified for the playoffs, and the french team won the gold medal. It really shows how intense was Tokyo olympics for mens volleyball.
When the USA are in system they play beautiful volleyball. Sander on that pipe attack is unmatched, his ability to not only evade the block but also hit away from the back court defenders into space is something that has always mesmerized me. I wish he'd stayed playing indoors longer to form perhaps the hardest hitting outside duo in international volleyball with Defalco.
Micah is just incredible with facilitating the offense. This camera angle really shows it too
@@michaelmitterholzer9411 true. He's definitely the best setter in the world for me, especially considering how many top 4 finishes the USA have got in competitions over the last 5 or so years with a squad which I'd say is less star-studded than the likes of Poland, Brazil or even this French team.

2:36 France is always cheating and because it s a big volleyball nation, referees don't say anything... The rule is very strict welhen you're leaving your position : as soon as the server is touching!!! the ball the players can be in the wrong position.... As you can see... This blue guy is running 2 seconds before...
as soon as the server move you can switch
@@pimentolebento8589 not at all... It s just tolerate for a few milliseconds before but a real referee would never ever give 2 sec !! They have to change their position system : it s that easy. This rule is very strict and it s written in the referee's book... That is THE basic rule of volleyball.
