9km radar on a T8 DD, the same as on the US T8-T10 CL's. Seems fair.

I do really want to build a full gunbuild on the EU DDs, but I got the Split and put my Ragnar captain on and he had CE and SI, no BFT, no FB.
Now this actually really worked nice on Split. It's a total stealth radar, so you can trap a DD 2km in your radar, but that's not OP, because by the time is ends only you really have got any shots on them. It's great at denying a cap because of that radar and how quickly it reloads. But I found I use 2-3 radars to kill a DD and win a cap.
I really like having 5 charges of it through SI.
She is a monster and I wouldn't put IFHE on tbh. You want that fire damage.
Also, one thing, the Torps are so weak that you can't yolo a BB, so it doesn't have that advantage over many DD lines including French.
It also hasn't got enough speed to dive a cap like a French DD - think of Hotspot.
So I actually think it's a beautifully strong DD with everything in the right places, but it's not WG has been crazy OP.
Having 3 KM stealth radar that can be up 1/2 of the time is just nuts. There's no chance for a stealth/hybrid DD. And that's before the smoke. If you took the smoke off and just had the radar/that concealment it would still be powerful. This has to get major nerfs before it's out of EA.
I mean it's only against other DDs do they have that power while you may get a single salvo as a member of their team. The smoke removal only impacts against CVs while. They may need a reload nerf but that's about it.
The will wai5 a year to let everyone invest then nerf once they have milked it. That’s the plan, why it exists.
Clan Battles this week: 4 BBs, variety of DDs including the Asashio
Clan Battles after the 1st week: 2 DDs per team, both of them Splits, some teams with Mogador/Split or Black/Split.
With the Tier V and VI DDs in this line I set up the captain as full torp build - in Tier VI this got me 79 knot speed torps, 2 x 4 torps with 67 second reload with 7.5K range - and with concealment captain skill I have a margin of error with 6.3K concealment. However, the torps do not do a ton of damage (max 7533) - I got 12 torp hits in my last game and 69K damage (and no kills!). Now these two tiers have smoke, speed boost, HE only shells but NO radar. PQ - why not try out the Tier VI Stord VII Grom (which also does not have radar) and see how you like a Torp or Combo build?
The only shortcoming I see is the lack of AP on such large caliber guns, which would have dumpster CA like that Helena. Everything else seems very strong.
And slow turret traverse. Poor AA too.

Man they nerfed the hell out of this pretty quick haha. I think it was warranted, but now I feel like you can die very quickly in this ship. I've only played it a handful of times and am still trying to figure out the right play style. I mostly was placed in up tier battles so that didn't help.
I think a long range short duration radar is great for team play; you have to give warning before and ready up the team for a salvo, if you want anybody else to shoot. I think, the short duration long range radar is also a great way of doing something differently. Great way for people to learn something new.

Yet another OP line... of course they are fun. When you play them... now. After a while all that remains will be either a massive power creep or yet another line nerfed after early access.
I think this line is going to be the first REAL bait and switch nerf after early access to liberate fools out of their gold.

The European DD split brought us Split which is namesake of Split
I like the new EU premium DDs too, and the Split radar is very handy. They all have good guns and above average torp speeds per tier.
The radar duration is short, at 10 seconds.
I got the T9 as first reward for the 1k dubs mystery prize, have say it does good work. Get spotted smoke and radar and you get the jump on other dd's. Does eat damage though easily.
I got the t9 in the first bundle. I would like to see some gameplay for sure.

Gdansk, it can be said that it is the strongest of all, surpassing Smaland, this line went through several tests, so I hope they don't modify it anymore

@@oniichan4909Bullshit. The thing is huge and easy to hit. It is strong but not broken. If they nerf it they need to nerf Kleber and Daring as well, because they are perfect at what they do and a Daring even murder a Gdansk in CQB. So either buff the old DDs like Gearing or nerf the majority of the new lines. This one is very much in line with the french and british. No new meta defining ship. Especially russian cruisers counter them hard.

@@Fackeldackel I didn't say it was OP nor do i want it nerfed, just radar is the bane of a fair few DD's who just really can't do much against them hence the: other DD's will hate them, it was more of a groan than a wish for the line to be nerfed.
Also 4 radars is crazy much with such a quick cooldown

Taking away the radar would break this line and render it obsolete. Their weakness is their squishiness while being huge targets. Tier for Tier they are among the biggest DDs in the game. No heal, no french saturation while at the same time for example a Daring can beat a Gdansk in CQB. So no, dont nerf them. If the enemy is stupid they feel broken. But so does any other gunboat. But the moment the enemy has a brain and simply tanks the short radar the line is fucked unless there is a radar cruiser close by. If the enemy DD shoots while radared he dies. But that's on them.
Can't wait for the new British super battleships Devastations and new TX German submarine that have a high speed while submerged with 10 torps tube lol
I wonder if the Black is worth it with the release of these beasts.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but these DD's have much shorter duration radars than the Black.

They are marked as _special_ and can trade commanders like premium while the early access event is active, but they are still tech tree ships.

I still think the Cossack or the Kidd with their 5.4km conceal are just as good as a gunboat. The Cuniberti with its SAP is also really strong against DDs. I believe this new line will play quite similar to the French DDs.
The radar essentially negates Cossack or Kidd's concealment, they have SIGNIFICANTLY better shell velocity with nearly the same DPM, AND better torpedo power than both of those ships. I think this line will also replace French DDs; while its similar is also nothing like them in many respects in that they have better conceal with smoke/radar and longer range faster reloading torps similar to Halland line. French DDs especially T9/10 don't really function in a torpedo role unless its kamikaze charging a battleship. These DDs can play like gunboats or go dark playing a stealth role if needed.

Italian DDs were supposed to be DD hunters and they sacrifice everything for that. Why would you ever take them over these that can hunt DDs and farm dmg?
Because as the SUPPORT destroyer the Regolo is the best in the entire game.

That's why smoke now is useless, i never use smoke if my area are having radar ship, and keeping my engine boost for retreat
I'm NOT saying this game is FAKE but it is pretty unusual.
First, the enemy team were total potatoes. They sunk 1 ship TOTAL. A double CV, double sub game where neither sub nor the CV Ranger made any effort to SPOT or sink the DD Split.
Second, the CV Pobeda attacked 5 times which was shown and an unknown number of times during the skip ahead at 8:24 for ZERO Damage. None of the 5 times shown when Pobeda attacked did he drop a fighter or make any attempt to keep Split spotted for his team. 3 of the 5 times shown he attacked the DD Split with torpedo bombers, 2 times with Skip Bombers and 0 times with Rockets. CV Ranger didn't attack or use fighters on DD Split that was shown.
Again, I'm not saying the game is FAKE but I don't have matches like this in my DDs. CV Pobeda drivers in my games land their Skip Bombs on my deck without a single bounce and take 1/4 of my health each time. While I do have games where the CV ignores me for parts of the game, once I've been located they tend to harass me with fighters, skip bombers and rockets until I'm sunk especially in a ship with marginal AA like DD Split.
Edit: Also, I don't believe this game took place on the live NA Server as that profile, PotatoQualityCC, has only 32 Random matches on the NA live server and none of them are in a DD Split.
I have this ship, actually hate it. It's massive so other DDs won't miss, it's a turkey on turning/stopping so your smoke won't save you. The radar lasts 10s so you'll get like 2-3 salvos off once you are concealed. It's pretty useless vs another DD.

@@Angel-PerCe its only OP against torpedo boats & non secondary BB which will likely influence the game. She can't toe to toe against any pure gunboat like Khaba, Ragnar or Kleber even German BB or BC eat him quickly.
@@abdinata9273 smaland is OP doing DD things (2 Highest HE DPM, steal radar, heal, 30% Engine boost)... Yes maybe she can't penetrate Khaba or Ragnar side plating and kleber has the MBRB but after a Fight against smaland they need to hide behind islands for the rest of the match. Smaland still can fight with 12km torps without problem if she is 1 HP, but Khaba? Ragnar?

the radar is pretty useless - it lasts 10 seconds. I just played in my grom against split. didn't seem strong at all. radar is not a factor. too short to be useful
more toxic shit like this needs to be added to the game. It makes the game so much more fun to play. WG is so smart
all this does is make you want to not play any DD that doesn't have radar. DD radar is very powerful.

These boats are great if your 5 and like to kill from invis, These dd are the worst thing in this game. But 1 good thing is you can do the misses at the same time as playing a dd
