Thank you
Watched yall since college 😊 25 now love your shit
Just now getting into you guys, I like the philosophy, mission and idea of your platform; much respect.
How do I participate? 3-2 AM MMA record. 6'4" 300lbs currently in Salt Lake City, Utah. Clean blood work. Started hitting the bottle and need a vacation.
Can we appreciate the dexterity that dude has in his legs?! His ability to control his kicks is insane
na he is fighting like in a movie
Unfortunately his kicks are too slow and have very little power.
Very little power, hips isn’t twisting enough, heel never towards the opponent on the high kicks, dropping both arms when kicking, and, he’s legs are slow as fcuk…
@@salaciousBastard u dont need much power from the leg for a knock out. Look at sean o malley
@@BufanMuayThai I never said anything about his power, only commented on his dexterity.
Wing Chun Master was fun to watch. I liked how he used his forms, but also adjusted to the situation with a boxer's guard instead of trying to trap hands, or parry. True Mixed Martial arts.
I'm concerned he didn't follow through with his kicks. He was just flicking them to get space, not to dish out major damage.
That's good in point fighting, but another opponent could power through.
It's really incredibly rare to see Wing Chung in a real fight and still be able to recognise something of the techniques. Most of the time WT'ers end up in senseless fidgeting and really bad kickboxing. Here you could see that he really tried to apply techniques and sometimes they even came through. Really rare
Which is because they don't spar. All combat systems woukd suck without sparring.
@@konradgin6214 jepp, so true.
@konradgin6214 couldn't agree more. I remember seeing an MMA match where the guy used WC effectively and won. He trained MMA not only WC
@@cam6202 Kevin Holland found great success using freestyle WC in UFC. WC has one huge advantage that I feel like only s few fighters have utilized. They can generate some SERIOUS close range power.
Xiao long said that his master is Robert White.
Basically his master mixed everything together. He’s mainly a karate guy who mixed Chinese martial art with Thai kickboxing.
So you see elements of long kicks to close the gab and some wing chung.
This xiao long guy must be a beginner because he forgot to guard up after closing the gap and after punching.
He probably hasn’t spar that much. Mostly doing drills from what I see.
He got the form down but no real power in his punches and kick.
He’s just lucky that the other guy have no real training in boxing. Otherwise xiao long would have been knock out in the first round!

at 4:57 was that an elbow? looks like he punched but im not for sure and you know better than i do.
There is no success in only one discipline. Even the wing stop master attempts a choke. Impressed so far
Its hard to judge Wing Chun in this rule set because elbows are a major finishing tool for Wing Chun after you get into that close trapping range. I give the kid all kinds of props for putting himself out there though.
Let him have elbow and knee pads
not to mention the throat strikes, eye gouges, and oblique kicks
Wing Chung isn’t for sparring it’s for eliminating a threat by any means
Long seemed to be more concerned with looking stylized than actually fighting. His punches and kicks didn't look to have much power behind them. He's lucky the 'brawler' has crap cardio. Kudos to both for stepping in the ring though.
Despite what you see in the movies Wing Chun like anything else gets messy especially when a stranger is trying to knock your head off. I love that he clearly had training in other ranges because it's not enough to realistically maintain that close of a range especially when your opponent doesn't want to. Though subtle I saw the techniques were there. Great fight.
That’s so great. Homey let brawler tire himself out in round 1 and took him out in round 2 😂😂
Best even handed commentary on one of these videos I’ve seen/heard. Keep up the good work. 🎉
In certain situations, it is. My old mma trainer was a wing chun practitioner. It mostly focuses on gripping, wrist conditioning and joint hits
Both fighters had some skill and showed real toughness. The brawler had a good simple aggressive hand-heavy style, throwing hard crosses but staying on balance, just lacked stamina and good defense. The Wing Chun guy had a good flow and an awkward style that worked pretty well for him, showed some Thai clinch and obviously a smidgen of the Jitsu. He was getting a little too cute and flowy at times which could have cost him him consciousness, but he had a chin and rolled with a lot of the strikes so most probably looked worse then they were. Overall, a pretty decent showing for Streetbeefs, which are like 85% garbage fights.
I discovered streetbeef from your channel and now I've watched quite a few. I watched this one recently and it's a good one!
Kevin Lee recently did a Wing Chun video with Erik Paulson I'd love to see you break that down
SSP's commentary makes all these fights even better! LOL
Skinny Solo should have used his special move. The "I'm not looking at y... SHAPOW!"
Really nice talk about his self control. Nice video 😊
Got to give it up for both of them hell of a good fight
Good guys having a close scrap with contrasting styles. Nice
Great video! Would love to see more reaction content going forward
100% correct, Steve! Tuck your chin in, tense your abs and remember: "your elbows are your shield, your fists and feets are your sword" 😉😉👍😎😎💪😎😎👏👏👏
Peanut, All day. And calling his kid Nutella, which is made from nuts, is funny af.
Round 1 Peanut 8 Wingchun 4
Round 2 Wingchun WINS? Rear naked exhausted choke.
Was a good match!
Great fight to showcase! 👍 Love watching 2 very different stylists put it to the test. TBH I thought kung ku guy was goint to get KO'd. Respect to both warriors.
Wing Chun works best in fights that start close in chest to chest and only last seconds but in sparring range in a prolonged match it's a disadvantage
props to both of you guys! you did well and handled it like men.
I fucking love your channel mate! Thanks for the fire content 🔥
Next up.....Wing Chun vs Chicken Wing style. The epic battle of the Wings!
His kicks almost look like he is sparring not fighting
The problem is Wing Chung uses lots of elbows in close range, and if those are illegal, half of your arsenal is gone. If you look at the last sequence he takes his head off the centerline and correctly raises the elbow but, he can't use it, so finds himself in no man's land. Kudos to him for adding kicks to his Wing Chun, making his combat style more effective.
So there are a few guys at my gym that was on a fight team that started off in Wing Chun but basically abandoned it once they started training Muay Thai and basically MMA but the thing with this guy is he doesn't really fight like a Wing Chun fighter. He does none of the close range hand trapping backhand attacks and vertical punches. He has good dexterity and easily throw the kicks out but he doesn't seem to land with very good accuracy. And if you're a person who's getting punched in the face and you start spinning around and turning your back you clearly are not skilled enough to be fighting yet
Love the channel, love streetbeefs, but if that is a Wing Chun Master, and that's a Brawler, then I'm both.
Yooooo Bro, I didn't know that Prince William could fight!!!
Wing Chun guy definitely got that round
lol. I LOVED The Last Dragon. Sho Nuff!
That was awesome, that roll was some dark souls level shit. lol
I dont sell you deodorants ahaha😂 amazing review of the match.
The brawler was gassing. He did well in the first round. I agree that he should have used more hand work at the end. The Wing Chun guy needs to make his kicks count and not allow himself to be stuck in the corner but move around and use good foot work. At the end of the first round, he should have capitalized on the take down with some ground work but I'm not sure if he has any wrestling background.
If Wing Chung fighters want a good unintentional example, and the only one I know of being effective, watch some Roberto Duran fights where he is fighting on the inside, looks like he is fighting the wooden dummy.
Wing Chun almost always looks too linear with not enough head movement. Major props to him though
In my personal humbe opinion, I believe the wing chung guy did really well, but could have done better. The brawler guy stood strong in R1 but gassed out in R2. The wing chun guy used a lot more styles than that lol. Respect to the brawler for showing heart.
I wish this type of matchup was available when I used to work out.
IMO, both fighters lacked commitment to strike,,, they were both reluctant to strike because they lacked confidence. On the other hand, they showed up & took their chances. Next time, if there is a next time, they'll be that much more confident.
a Wing Man is all I need it in a fight😂
I would love to see an analysis of Sambo against other MMAs
That's an insult to Wing Chung Masters everywhere
I love the Ip man movies especially the first two… but in real life I don’t know…. I don’t see that dude screaming 10 bags…
I feel like even in movies the wing chin guys stands straight up. The way striking is in wing chin doesn’t pair well with having a tucked chin. The blocks and strikes almost have to be done standing up.
My only complaint is no power behind anything wing chun throws
They’re trained to stop before they hit 😂 his technique and endurance was so solid he won an mma match via two rounds of light sparring
Yeah they definitely went out and that's for sure but not everybody can do that
Bruce Leeroy was from The Last Dragon an 80s classic
I wouldn't call the Wing Chun guy a master. He has studied maybe.
I'm surprised the wing stop guy has surpassed my expectations.
Wing chun does not use high kicks. Saying this to say there are modifications that need to be made to cover holes in traditional MA. I am a CLF practitioner, but I fill out my kit with boxing and some grappling techniques.
The worst places to take a swing at are the liver area (right side of abdomen) and collarbone.
You can literally see the wing chun guy pulling his punches because he was trained to stop before he lands the hit. Shows a big flaw in the way they train.
No you can't. What drugs are you on mate? Pull your conditioned bias out of your arse and try again.
THAT WAS FUN TO WATCH!!!! I bet if that dude got some MMA training he would be good.
Wingchun kid needed to capitalize on the takedown
But the dude hold back a lot 💯I respect he didn't put a ,💯 percent. Bro keep it chill 💯
Bru saw that short came out here fast AF. I'ma eat edibles and watch this
“He’s eating a lotta shots, Xiao Long is…”
D Force was strong on dis line!
*peace out
i want some streetpork. im trying to cut weight
Wow
That was a bad joke on soooo many levels.
Here in Florida we love the chase and fur missiles
The supposed "Wing Chun" guy displayed few Wing Chun techniques. As you know, Steven, it's not the art itself, but rather the skill level of the person using it. Bruce Lee combined Jun Fan and Wing Chun Gung Fu to make Jeet Kun Do. He refined the wasted movement, took out the ineffective moves, and created a very effective form of combat. I was lucky enough to have studied under 3 first generation Bruce Lee students. One of them, Pete Salgot, was my boxing coach. I also got to study under Jesse Glover (Bruce Lee's first student, lived with Bruce for 7 years) and Ed Hart, who was also a former professional boxer. Both of these guys in the video have decent skills, but neither one has obviously had a lot of training. The "Wing Chun" guy has some good kicks, though none of them were anything taught in Wing Chun. They seemed more like Karate or Tae Kwon Do kicks. Kudos to them for having the courage to step in there and fight. Not everyone has the balls to fight. Anyway, love your videos, Steven!
Afternoon
Great fight. Dude in white had power
The brawler landed way more effective shots. Wingchun man is stylisticly superior but only won because his opponent gassed out.
All those complex moves yet couldn't do something as simple and basic as "protect your chin."
You're normally so on point and knowledgeable, I'm amazed you didn't catch no, rather call a spade a spade. So wing chun has like 3 kicks, none of which was shown, the quick back hands, yes wing chun, but there were tons of Muay Thai kicks, clinches, defense postures and even a sweep. I'll admit there was a lets say, wing chun filter over the camera bc he did try to control his center line and I did see him default back to the 3 point defensive stance which is wing chun 101 but like you said his push kicks were really helping him dictate were and when the fight would ignite again & he abandoned wing chun all in all. All that said there are some truly insightful things wing chun will teach you, do I come out in a Gi? No I kick box at Duke Rufus's gym, but "adding"wing chun to your boxing ( not replacing it) has the same benefits as adding BJJ on top of your years & years of wrestling for example.Or Sambo.
Wing Chun works on someone with zero fight experience and drunk people.. sometimes
I trained in Wing Chun for over 6 years, before switching over to MMA for about the same length of time. I left because I could look great in controlled environments and techniques, I really felt I couldn't maintain the style discipline when it became real - which actually means you can't really fight! Ability is always relevant to the task, so sure, I could beat some people, but so can anyone. Taking away his elbows definitely limits a lot of what is trained a lot, as when you work to get close, the elbow is the go-to weapon. However, there's always a limit. He never threw a single chain punch, which I think in this fight might have actually worked, but that is what I also found - I could never really use them in a fight either! I learned some good things that helped me in MMA, but I know where my time would have been better served if I was starting again.
You need more real fight experience to practice wing chun. So in other words you get too many nerves and can't control it.
@@symbolsarenotreality4595 I trained a hell of a lot more 'real' than most wc students do, fought in tournaments while studying wc, and then continued in mma. Nerves were not the issue.
@@cadmus777 Mate anyone can make up bs anecdotes. Learn how to STFU more instead of being some western sell out.
@@cadmus777so would you have stayed in WC?
He wing chun dude was trying to get them to call him Xiao Lung/Long which means Little Dragon..Bruce Lee was called Lee Xiao Lung in Cantonese...Lee the Little Dragon. Wing Chun dude had decent basics. It appears that he has never really sparred or fought much with anyone outside of Wing Chun. His center kick in the vicinity of his opponents dantian was standard wing chun. He stayed in the "upright " stance as Steve pointed out. That, I think comes from not having fought anyone much other other wing chum stylists. Interesting fight overall. 8:01
In my unprofessional opinion, I thought that the Wing Chun guy went in there not knowing what the rules were ... so he was just "testing the waters", then he got into it :D
The brawler wasted a lot of his energy pushing WC without causing any damage. He should have saved it for punches.
Great fight but as you said he tapped out because of being tired. But great warriors!!
Dude coming at you looking like Kevin Rooney
i think the wing chun is a beautiful looking art... you never see people do those double high kicks
Very awesome fight, but i think it looked more pretty than it did effective... It's not practical to use in a fight unless you can land some hard shots
If it were Ian Garry landing those double high kicks dude would have been slept real quick, i think he just needs to put more meat into those attacks
I think he was good at what he did, and i would be interested in seeing a high level wing chun fighter
somehow amateur style vs style fights are kinda interesting
Weak kicks with no follow through. Respect to both.
Aw fuck no! I was rear-strangled before! The way I got out of it was back-kicking at knees and head-butting the nose with the back of my head.
C'mon, dude! Half of fighting is knowing how to NOT to! - rolls eyes- can't believe the guy tapped out over a chokehold. Remember: when they're using THIER arms, use YOUR legs and when they're using THEIR legs, use your arms.
Hes the best wing chun fighter ive seen in a real fight
Guard up😂
i never saw any wing chun techniques in here
I think the wing chun guy was a little to Passive, but I guess that's part of Sino martial arts.
*He must be self taught* 😂
WING CHUN GUY HAD MUCH BETTER CONDITIONING. THE BRAWLER COULD PUNCH
Doesn't look like Wing Chun but fun to watch whatever it was.
That was alot of attacking for Wing Chun..
Cardio, cardio, cardio.
Thats a gas tap
Why nobody asks: is Muay Thai effective, is Western Boxing effective? BJJ, wrestling, judo? Nobody asks this. Why? Because the whole debate was settled quarter century ago.
I think the wing Chung guy is not fastenings and not applying full force to win it
Took a few Wing Chun classes years ago. Some of those hand traps could be implemented into your stand-up. They lost me when the Sifu paired a 90 lb woman with me. Told her that he could teach her to defeat me. Unrealistic expectations will get you hurt. I'm not saying there isn't a way she could win, but not using that. Teach that lady to get away alive...
The brawler has a right hand where you're like this band is pretty shitty but that bass player is amazing. He's Rancid, basically.
Is that guy a student of the Famed Martial Artist Master Steven Segal ?
Most Asian-based martial arts are more about defense instead of offense. What he's doing resembles Muay Thai, too but...to the best man is 🍻 in my book.
He's not a wing Chun master first of all. Last any fighting style can be affective. Just depends on how long and how it is used. Basically it's down to the individual.👍
Winner by age difference. 27 I was splitting ass like firewood till 2am. 37 I’m splitting my own ass on the toilet at 2am because I had two measly pieces of cake after dinner.
Is it legal to kick to the opponent’s knees in this mma setting?
In a straight forward fight it is just as much luck as much as technique i learned kendo for weapons training i learned judo and karate from a few books Muay Thai and BJJ from 2 of my best friends one who passed away the dude who showed me your channel learned Taekwondo from my cousins around my age both were striped belt black belts if I wasn't as durable as I am i would have broken bones instead of dislocated shoulders and sprained ankle
Their fighters are the best in the business
I didn't see alot of wing chun in the fight.
