I have watched about five or six similar videos on how to build a Moxon Vise. Yours is a no-fuss, no-nonsense presentation that beginners can feel confident about following. Thank you! I bought my hardware from Taylor Toolworks for approx $50, but regular wing nuts and bolts will work fine, too, as you point out.

@@Crowhollowwoodworks It was. One of the ways in which this was helpful was the (almost) no machinery approach. As for myself, I work exclusively with hand tools. Partly because hand tools and methods is what I inherited from my 96-year-old cabinet maker father and from four generations of cabinet makers before him in my family. And partly because I need to protect my hands from injury. All the other videos I watched on making this vise (often the first for many) used expensive tools.

Glad to see the high degree of hand tools in this video. Most woodworking videos are
feature extensive use of high priced power tool, of every description, yet this one demonstrates hand tools, with only a palm sander and a table saw falling into the power tool category. Applause for use of brace and bit, a tool from before the 1800's.

@@BRUCELAN168 The way it was done increases the risk of kickback. Granted, the off-cuts from this project were small, thin strips, so kickback wouldn't have been as dangerous, but cutting so your off-cuts aren't trapped between blade and the fence is a good habit to get into.

I like liked most of this video, especially your use of hand tools. But I have few suggestions/criticisms. Four clamps doesn’t seem sufficient to laminate two large boards, you leave many areas without clamping pressure. Running rough glued edge surfaces against a fence to trim the edge can cause kickback on the table saw unless that edge has been scraped smooth and flat. And if it is smooth and flat the it is better used to trim the opposite edge. Also, if you leave the outer vise face wider then you can make it lower so it can easily butt against the bench edge giving extra support to a long clamped board. Just my 2¢.
