  • In the middle of a DELUGE of rain, We moved the Sheep to Canton Apples Where the owner, Joel Howie has invited us to help mow and fertilize his young orchards. Everybody seems to be settling in nicely and there are plenty of forbs (aka "Weeds") to eat as well as a salad bar of grasses & wildflowers to suit the particular nutritional needs of sheep.
It started pouring just as we started loading the ewe's and lambs and it continued to pour as we unloaded them and then headed back to Anne's farm to get the "boys," the wethers and rams...
In fact it was pouring so hard that we did not notice that the 3 rams were left behind to wander around loose... but we figured it out eventually and went back to get 'em.
No harm done. And yet ANOTHER lesson learned. "Check the pasture to make sure all the animals are on the trailer..." DEFINITELY NEXT TIME! ;o)
Because it has been raining SO MUCH, this week's featured song is "RUNNING IN RAIN" Which I wrote back in June of 1977 when I was only 16. So I'm glad I recorded it back in 2018 before I had even a decent microphone or any clue about recording sound. It sounds pretty good...
the bottom line is that we are gathering a "portfolio" of land that needs us to be stewards and healers of the soil and the soul. By having multiple farms available we can pick and choose where to put the animals based on prevailing conditions. This particular spot is pretty wet in places so it is ideal for the drier summer months... So in spite of all the rain, we are totally ready for a drought! :o)
Thanks so much for joining us on this adventure!
    Peace! Love & Groovyness!

Thank you for all the time you put into recording and editing your videos. I get so much out of each one. The song was another surprise that I had not ever heard before -- what a gem! Thank you for sharing your dad's story, and yours as well. Great reminders that it's never too late to start something new! Love the community you've built, and the portfolio of farms. What a smorgasbord for the sheep! So funny watching Splits fighting to stay in the trailer out of the rain! Thank you for the reminders to take care of our health, and that we can choose today to start making healthier choices if we haven't made such great choices in the past. Just had the healthiest dinner I've had in a long time! 😃

I also want to add that the visuals that accompany the song remind us that experiencing the rain is subjective -- love to see the kids thoroughly enjoying it!

The love and respect and honor you have for your dad are evident in the way you speak of him. So beautiful and heartwarming to see!

You look so happy on that rainy day! Mr. Snappy Turtle was coming to see you... cute little guy (or gal). But no where near as cute as those baby lambs, jumping through the grass. Looks like they're having so much fun there. Very nice song I never heard before...🙂 So that was an appropriate sermon for me. I can identify with your dad. Never lost a limb, but have a close friend who lost a leg like your dad. Very very traumatic to go through. I did spend 4 yrs on crutches and in and out of a wheel chair at times. Its quite an eye opener dealing with infirmities and pain that drains what energy you have, but when one is finally back together the focus does become on health... for myself always and I hope for others as well. I totally get it! It's most important for our lives. Speaking of that, a great and short (only 15 min) film on youtube is a good view... "Down To Earth" and the longer version is "The Earthing Movie". Dr Mercola's in both of them. And it's AMAZING! I can testify to it... gotta watch it, please.... 😊 The best road to health is right under our feet! Blessings and thank you for all the Fun Farm Footage! Love it!
