  • A Randstad survey of almost 760 respondents aged between 18 and 67 has found work flexibility -- in terms of hours and location -- to be a critical deciding factor for jobseekers in Singapore. It found that two in five would not accept a job that is too inflexible. Some 95% placed work-life balance at a higher priority than pay, in terms of importance of current and future jobs. Firms that aren't going green or improving diversity and inclusivity may also find it difficult to attract millennials and Gen Zs. Ms Archana Srinivasan from the Institute for Human Resource Professionals discussed the findings.

I was made redundant earlier in the year and looked for another job . Had one that actually paid more than my last job but it was in the office only. Took a another job with a pay cut of 10k where I can work from home 3 days a week . It was totally worth it and have not regretted it

Am a single who have to look after aged parents at home and cant afford to employer a dosmetic helper. If there is a regulatory work from home 3 days a week, it will really help to maximise my time arrangement for instance start work at home at 6 am, instead working late in office or bringing work home after office hours. Employees often work longer hours when work from home.

This policies actually disrupts company's policies and make things difficult for company and workers also . The government encouragering company to bring in partime or foreigners if company not enough workers that stays in offices? Many will lose jobs ..

1:28 Working is about delivering outcome according to KPI set instead of showing face in office by physically being present in office building. It’s about trust being professional. Heck, sales people can work from Geylang or Changi beach as long as they can meet sales quota target and maintain customer experience top notch.
No one should ever be surprised by a poor performance evaluation either work in office or WFA (work from anywhere doh!). If that happens, then that is a failure by a manager that did not periodically check in and give direction throughout the year and effectively communicate their expectations. Yes, some people just brag of his or her title of being manager or director but know f*cks about being a leader. #LeaderNOTtitle

Flexible work is popular, but some worry it might make Singaporean workers less competitive. This could be true for jobs with tight deadlines where companies might prefer someone always in the office.Possible downsides of flexible work on competitiveness:
Foreign worker appeal: MNCs might see foreign workers with more rigid work schedules as a better fit, especially if short-term project deadlines are involved.

Why interfere with current work-pay balanced? Those who wants to have flexible working hour deserve average pay and those who work regular working hour alongside with customers, suppliers and bosses etc making things accessible and reliable for everyone deserve to be rewarded handsomely. We are SME who only have 1-2 employees, you are forcing all of us in this category to close down because your rule forced us to bag on employees mercy knowing that we are small and already have great difficulties in hiring talents, now any cats and dogs can forced us to compromise because they know the law is at their advantage. Have you ever interview SMEs owners on our views?
Singapore will soon lost our worldwide workforce competitiveness to the world market. What natural resources do we have? Nothing, accept air, sky and Human Resources. We came from a generation of hardworking culture raised by our super hardworking parents, now you forced us to raise weak children?
