I remember once when asking a vendor what are the prices for his records. He clearly said that the ones in the cardboard boxes are $1.00 each and the rest in plastic crates are $5.00 each. I went through them with no one around and ended up with about 30 albums. I waited til the end to ask if I can get an empty box to put them in and possibly a discount. He puts the dozen psych albums aside and tells me that they're $25.00 each?? I was pissed so I said what he told me the prices he quoted. Nothing doing so I just walked away. Glad you scored.
Yeah that's some BS! He should have had them priced then!!!
@@VinylHunter alot of dealers dont price records. They look at how hungry you are and make up a number in their head on the day, depending how they feel. This practice is terrible, I usually walk out with nothing. Its just the principles of it. Ill take my cash elsewhere.
if they were psych records you wanted why didn't you pay the measley $25 ? new records are $40.
@@allpraiseduetogod it's true.. or they decide to hold onto them (for online sales) when you bring them up from the basement after 3 hours of on your hands and knees.
@@SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 This was more than 15 years ago! The same records at the record shows were between $10.00 to $15.00 back then.
Sorry about that rotten experience at the Parish store. That's enough to make me walk out on them, posting a price and then charging something different. What's that Primus song..."Here Come the Bastards" or something. Wow, talk about being at the right place at the right time. That find at the next store more than makes up for it. Those Funkadelic records alone would have caused my knees to buckle. Wow, excellent haul!
Yeah, I was swallowing my pride as I was paying for the (wrong) records! 😂
That's the best rush to my vinyl brain.. when they say... " I have some records in the back..would you like to see them" ? Bonanza !!!! Love those early Chet LP's.
Yeah! Like asking at a garage sale "do you have any records"...because, if they have to go in the house to get them...bingo!
@@VinylHunter Right !!! That's the way I roll too ! I become friendly with everyone where I go.. it really pays off. I had a guy from a thrift store call me yesterday, cause I got to know him.. he had an old Victrola.. which I didn't want..but, he will call when records get dropped off !!!
Dooood....that first Spike Jones LP you pulled out...the red one...I think Mark Mothersbaugh owns that suit Spike is wearing! I woulda bought that one! Great video, as usual, Tuco.
As in Spike's actual suit??!! Or it's twin?
@@VinylHunter - Actual suit!!
Wow! Great Funcadelic records. It is hard to do vinyl scores, but easier in CDs. Just bought bunch of CDs 1€ each. All were listed in Discogs starting from 5€ to 48€!
Yeah! NOW is the time to be buying CDs!
I subscribed to ur channel. 🙂👍✌You got some great videos. You look like a cool guy.I like how you go out to find hidden vinyl gems.🙂👍Keep hunting them vinyls.🙂👍✌
Thank you!!! Yeah, one of my tricks is looking in places where other people don't think to look!
Cool Funkadelic! You just wonder how they got to Nebraska!
Yeah...some really small town too!
You dont look like a guy that would like classical music , but that's why we should never judge that's the bueaty of music . Great find my brither
So true!
In fact, i used to have an intro to my videos that showed the diverse variety of music i show on my channel, because people tended to pigeonhole me as "just a metalhead"
Was watching and thinking click bait and standard thrift store finds....then was getting ready to turn off and then the record hit my tv screen....the mother of all OG's..... Maggot Brain.....wow.....nicely done sir! I am still walking around in the wild trying to find one of these🤔
Yeah! Crazy find! And Free Your Mind...!
Wow. Super cool on the Funkadelic
Crazy find, huh!!!
At first I thought that watching those videos would make me jealous... But finally, I think it's so cool for another collector fellow that I love watching them ! Good score, "Maggot Brain" FFS !!!!
Thank you!!! Yeah! Never dreamt I'd ever have an OG of that!!! Crazy find!!! Plus Free Your Mind!!!
Love all the space age stuff!!
Not next week, but the week after that is the Estate Sale that you need to see!!!
My favorite Honey Hole just went to 2.50 Tuco.. whatever. At least a few stores are still .25 cents and .99 cents for who k ows how much longer..
There's still some remote pockets that don't know that vinyl is a "thing" now....i still find lots of people who are surprised when i buy (or ask about) records
@@VinylHunter I know.. its crazy, that some don't know.. so we keep on digging, while the pickings good !!
Cool video Tuco. All that hunting paid off eventually. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!!!
Thanks Rich! Yeah good thing i didn't just get discouraged and quit looking after that first blunder!!!
WoW!!!! Congratulations!! You deserve to get this treasure for your perseverance. Greetings from Spain.
Thank you! Such a lucky score!!! 🍻
Oh, Tuco, we’ll stay subd alright just to see you rectify your slip ups!
Ha! And i keep messing up! I missed a good record on my most recent video, and I've got no practical way to go back and see if it's still there!
That TIME album is quite a find.
I didn't know what it was... but I knew I had to grab it! Kind of a no-brainer blind buy!
Awesome. I found a Parliament - Funkentelechy with 2 posters for $1 at the Goodwill off Blondo not long ago. Not as rare as your two funk finds though.
Wow!!! Great score!!!!
FunkaFreakingDelic!!!
Funkadelic!!
Crazy huh!!!!
Hi Tuco!! cool one my friend.... i guess your heart was beating real fast when the owner told you about the records in the backroom!!! killer scores, cheers
Yeah that's pretty exciting! Another similar scenario happened at a garage sale a few days ago, but it was just a 'tease' that didn't pan out!...I asked if he had any records...he said he had a bunch in the basement, but hasn't processed them, and so wasn't ready to sell them yet! I'd love to know we he had!
I did buy all his 45s though. He sold me all of them for $5. Some of them, unfamiliar to me, looked like they might be something worth some money! Haven't had time to go through them yet though.
Nice finds Tuco! We live for days like that, cheers.
Oh man! Such a crazy score!!!
Yeah,I have the other Time album, not bad, some good scores
You just never know when or where you're going to hit!
Good haul on those back room records. I have a few Kermit Schafer blooper records, they're a fun listen. But, there is some controversy with them. It is now believed some of the bloopers are actually recreations, and they were never presented as such on the records. Oh well, they're still a good picture of old-time radio.
Ha! Doesn't surprise me! Like many "live" albums that were actually made in a studio!
I miss the 80s and 90s for hunting for vinyl - glory days before feebay and disc-cogs inflations - oh well ! just material
It's sickening to think of the price of used records in the late 80s early 90s! I got Voivod Killing Technology for $5!
Forget the 80s and 90s...I miss vinyl digging even 5-6 years ago lol. I'm shocked at the current prices especially 80s hair metal...I got a near mint OG of Skid Rows self titled lp for $5 at a record show probably 6 years ago, 7 at the most. Now they go for close to $100. I saw a copy of VH women and children first at a show for $40?? Insane
@@tumbleweedconnection7906 well yeah there is a luck / timing factor with everything. Anything 80s now has been priced crazy while languishing as kind of a joke in bins for 2 decades. My Generation is hitting mid life crisis and the Stranger THings kids get lulled into an 80s trance.
Nice Funkadelic finds. I NEVER see those ANYWHERE. Those old ladies at the first store were running a hustle on you. "We ain't getting paid shit, so we might as well jack up the price and keep the profits." When we play war games, my nephew will play what he calls "War Music" that annoys me so to pressure me in making bad moves such as "Gloria! I think they got your ALIAS! That You've been living under!" As always great to be there thrifting with you.
You can't use Gloria AGAINST me! It will work MY favor! (insert maniacal laughter here)
@@VinylHunter HA HA!
Those Funkadelic LPs.. Wondering if they have the Process Church ad inside the gatefold of your copies..? - The Joshua Tree LP was pressed on Quietex.
Maggot Brain mentions Process Church, but i don't know that i would call it an ad? So I'm not sure what you're talking about.
My copy is PRC first pressing
@@VinylHunter yeah that's the one.. they had a larger ad with them promoting the Process Church in a trade mag at the same time.. there exists some promo copies with the insert. Process Church is a Satanic organization from the UK with connections to 'celebrities' and other influential characters.
Dang! Mine don't have that unfortunately!!!
13:19 I'm a big fan of David Carroll's albums too and my favourite one is 'Percussion Orientale' with a lot of exotic tunes by famous composers.
YES!!! Percussion Orientale is great!!!!
I found a nice copy of that Bongos record last time I went out. Haven't listened yet...
I haven't listened yet either! I just moved into my new house...haven't had my stereo set up for months...I've got probably 400 recent arrivals i need to listen to!
Can’t get maggot Brain here under two hundred bucks
Yeah, soooo crazy to find that in an antique store for $5!!!
Tuco, how many archive LP's do you consider essential? Funkadelic Gold, mate! : )
Thanks! One of my craziest hauls ever!
I don't know if i consider any archive records "essential"...but I'm sure some people may.
@@VinylHunter Donated albums I rarely played. Majority never pressed or released. Happy digging, mate.
@@VinylHunter Found Rolling Stones High Tide Etc, LP Gatefold with color booklet. $2.00 USD Worth digging in a hot side room at Florida thrift shop.
Yeah, I'll suffer any conditions to dig through records!
Your video thumbnail was very scary. Please don't do that because i don't like crying early in the AM.
My bad!
Storing lps stacked flat on top of each other is not a good idea! Was any of them warped?
No warping on any of the records i bought, but the covers were slightly smooshed
@@VinylHunter at least the LPs were ok!
That record from the Clopines (2:32)
Does anybody know anything from this band?
I know nothing of them...it's funny though because i paused on them a while, clearly mesmerized by their 'look'!
That's false advertising! They MUST sell it to you by law if the sign says it!
I made a very minor stink about it...but i didn't want to push it because it was elderly ladies and it was for charity
